Bob Pelletier Toyota of Sunnyvale Director of Service uses profanity over warranty work 8/16/2015

Terrible experience. Brought my 2015 Toyota and Bob Pelletier cussed me out and escorted me out. I spoke to Toyota USA and Toyota of Sunnyvale then called me back 2 days later and fixed the car, but they never apologized for Bob's language. Who cusses at customers? Apparently Toyota of Sunnyvale's employees do. They are not worth the hassle, embarassment and verbal abuse. Bob Pelletier should be reprimanded for his behavior. Please don't let this happen to you, stay away from Toyota of sunnyvale. more

Bad customer service 12/23/2013

I really feel Sunnyvale Toyota doesn't provide customer service that is acceptable by any means. I first bought my Toyota in 2010 The sales person wanted me to come in the next day to complete paperwork. I had told him that I had a family event in the afternoon, but he assured me that he would have everything ready and I wouldn't be there for over an hour & would make my event on time. This was not the case, & after arriving around 9:00 am, it took another 4 hours before I was able to leave. The entire time, he kept stalling me that it would only take another 15-30 min (repeatedly). After a year, the radio started to have problems. It would eject CDs on it's own & turn off. I reported this every time I brought the car in for maintenance, but they repeatedly said that they couldn't reproduce the problem. On the first maintenance after the warranty expired, they concluded that I was right & it did have a problem, but that I would have to pay for the replacement since the warranty had expired. About the same time, the key-fobs started to not work. Both had started to fail at the same time. We replaced the batteries every 3 months for a 9-month period. Toyota Sunnyvale wouldn't troubleshoot the issue, but made me spend over $600 & labor on new key fobs. Soon after this, the stock tires had worn down. My gas mileage on my hybrid had started to decline (from 26-27 mpg to about 25 mpg) so my initial thought was that it was the low tread on the tires. A service department read: "keep moving forward on tires MATCHED EXACTLY to your Toyota." I bought new tires that the service technician recommended. My gas mileage went down to 23-24 mpg. They recommended changing the tires back to the stock model. I did some research & learned that the new tires were discontinued & were not low-rolling resistance tires, (preferred tires for hybrids according to my internet research). In order to move back to the old model tires, I had to pay for labor & $100 for the difference between the two tires. My gas mileage is now 24-25 mpg. more

Professional buying experience... 6/18/2012

Recently, I purchased as new prius from Toyota Sunnyvale and was surprise how different the experience was versus the last time I bought a car. Pricing was upfront and the process was straightforward. I didn't have to jump through hoops or anything. When buying a car, definitely check out Toyota Sunnyvale. more

Prius 2010 10/13/2009

I had a great time to purchase my car. Prius was always out of stock, but I finally could see the Prius in stock at there. I had just moved in CA and I really wanted the car immediately. Sales person try to understand my situation and best interest, and try to give me the best option for me. I liked the way the sales person explain the all of the function of the car, and answer to the every little question I had asked. Their feed back was also very well. more

HORRID service dept 8/19/2009

Broke my windshield & refused to pay more than $60 towards the replacement even though they admitted breaking it (once I filed a claim with the BBB). Didnt do the majority of the tune-up I paid for saying later that they do not have a checksheet for a Scion tune-up, a Scion is a Toyota with another name on it (like Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti, etc) & they do not disclose this nor will they offer you a refund when you find out that they didnt do anything but change your oil for $100. Arrogant, irresponsible & lazy. more

Good selection, but not very good price 9/24/2005

Toyota Sunnyvale is a good toyota dealer. The have a big selection of cars. The salesman has good attitude and didn't push us to buy the car. However, the price they give me is not as good as other dealer. I went to there twice but still decided to buy my car from another dealer because they give me a lower price. more

My husband and I were impressed with the non pushy salesman and big selection at Sunnyvale's dealership. Unfortunately when it came time to buy things got ugly, we found the manager/ salesman good cop bad cop technique even more unappealing when the manager's megaphone voice blasted his disgust with our finances across the showroom everytime our salesman went over to him to discuss things. Needless to say we may be young first time buyers but we ain't stupid we took our business elsewhere! more

Good selection 9/9/2005

Good selection of Toyota vehicles, however we didn't like the customer service. The salesperson and manager mocked us after we tried to get a bigger discount and the salesperson seemed really cocky. They do have good policies - we actually returned the car after having it for a day (they give you a three day refund policy) but only because we found the exact same car for 1000 less at another dealership. more

Sunnyvale Toyota is a great local dealership. I bought my car from them and it was a very pleasant experience. I found the vehicle I was interested in, took it for a test drive, and negotiated with the salesman for a short time. It took a few hours after the sale to get the financing and then for them to wash and prep it. Their after sales service is efficient and fast. Prices are good. Warranty work is handled quickly. more
