I don't recommend it 4/14/2014

The staff was polite, but impersonal. My daughter constantly complained about the class being disrupted by screaming or misbehaving kids. We finally pulled her out because she just didn't like it (apparently it was "boring"). We were paying month by month, but received a bill almost 5 months later for $245 along with a threat to turn us over to collections. So obviously, they never noticed that my daughter had quit, but they missed our money. I am currently trying to contact them about this, but they are (predictably) not making themselves availably. Overall, just a very poorly run business. more

quality of intruction?? 3/22/2012

I have been dancing here for quite sometime, and I am not happy. At the end of the year I plan on leaving for multiple reasons.\r \r Top Hat is a very welcoming and happy environment. Yes, everyone is nice and it's like a family, but the quality of instruction is not there. It does not seem like the teachers care, they do not push the dancers to their full potential.I see company (competition) dancers sitting around talking more than they are\r working. Attendance among the teachers is a problem, especially with competition classes. So if you want your child to be able to reach their full potential or even the quality of instruction to be worth your money, you'd be better off looking for somewhere else to take your child. I would NOT recomend this place. I definatley regret not leaving sooner. more

Great dance instructors and a fun Christian environment. If your daughter has a love of dance this is the place for her. The only drawback of this studio is some parents are either allowed to break the rules of the competitive team or they get away with lying to the instructors. To join the competitive team you must sign a contract that states your child will make the company their number one priority and will not participate in any other activities that conflict with the dance companies rehearsal and competition schedule. This year there is one parent in particular that has boasted to other parents that they are going to break as many rules as they can and this person has had her child fake illness, and family emergency?s in order to attend other similar mandatory rehearsals for a similar activity that to this day they deny belonging to. And what is even worse is this individual has now convinced a few other parents that they can get away with this behavior too. One bad apple more

THT ROCKS!!!!! 6/27/2011

you guys shouldn't be dissing top hat because it's like my second home. Yea, it might be a little expensive and such, but it's all worth it! that one chick that said that they yell at your children, heck no!!!! They would never do such a thing! They might get a little frustrated and stuff but that doesn't mean you should be rude about it!!!! You go try teaching three classes of two year olds in a row. Go try lady!!! All the people there are sooo nice!!! And the staff, they are SOO nice!!!! Yea, they might get a little frustrated with your child if they're in competition jazz or some other class and they're not working hard!!! SO WHAT?? tell your kid to get their rear in gear or tell them it's bye bye, dance!! Trust me!!! I've been Competing with Top Hat since i was 5!!!!!! FIVE YEARS OLD, PEOPLE!!!!! 5!!!!!!\r So, go try out top hat for yourself. Then, come back to insider pages, and tell ALL the people of the OKC area how; A) you love top hat; B) how WRONG those other people were. Thnx more

We LOVE Top Hat Talent!! 2/8/2011

My daughter has been in the Top Hat Talent family for almost 9 years. She began dance classes there when she was 2 years old. The team and dancers at this studio treat each other like family. In addition to technique and choreography--the Top Hat Talent team teaches values, integity, and teamwork. The owner is a Christian role model and cares very deeply for the well being of these young girls. I would never take my children anywhere else. We feel very blessed to be a part of the Top Hat Talent family! more

Good Studio! 8/18/2010

My child doesn't attend Top Hat but a cousin does. I do agree that its expensive, especially competitive dance but you don't have to do competitions. The studio my dd attends is a lot less expensive and she loves it there and they are just as good as Top Hat. We've gotten many 1st place overalls and grand champ awards, but so has Top Hat. I don't know anything about how they run their studio, but they wouldn't be in business this long if they didn't run a tight ship. As far as dress attire, I think they'd be like other studio's and have a dress code. It does cost around $40 per mo for 1 hour of class per week, but that's pretty common. As far as All That Dance...NO don't go there. It is correct that you child would not be challenged there. I know two ppl who left because of it. If Top Hat is too expensive then look around, there are others out there. more

Top hat is AMAZING 7/13/2010

Well I have gone through all sorts of dance studios trying to find the right one and Top Hat is it!!! I live in Norman and I drive 45 minuites to get to Top Hat 4 days a week and it is worth it!!!!!!! I have only gone to Top Hat for a year and I LOVE IT!!!Every day I walk into Top Hat I get a " hey how are you" or a " hey" and a hug.. Top Hat is so fun!!!! The teachers are so nice and they try to push you to your best.. more

Top Hat 3/6/2010

Reading a few of the other responses, it is evident some people are new to the dance world. The prices of Top Hat are very much normal. Look up other studios in the area and prices will be right around there. And if they happen to be significantly lower, take a look at the facitlity and the staff, big factors. Addressing that only former students of Top Hat teach there, normal of any studio. Students seem to love where they grew up dancing and it makes total sense that they would want to help make it batter by teaching. And I highly doubt any of the Top Hat teachers would ever yell at a child. Become agitated, yes. But have you ever tried to teach a room full of 3 year old to dance? Not the easiest task in the world. more

Top Hat is the bomb!!! 10/11/2009

I have been going to Top Hat since I was three and competition since I was ten.The teachers care enough there to push you to get better.I thought it was so hard at the time, but looking back, I am so glad they pushed me or else I would suck. The dances there are actually fun to do and watch.I feel like I am entertaining people instead of doing a job or a task. The person who said we dress bad is neither wrong nor right. She is not wrong because that is her persoanl opinion and she has the right to think that we dress bad. Still she isn't right because she isn't even up to date enough to realize we have a dress code. We also are a family and family doesn't let other members down. We all work hard and if it isn't good enough for.. sorry!Build a bridge and get over it!!! more

Top Hat Talent Performing Arts is the Best Dance Studio in OKC! 7/29/2009

My daughter has been dancing at Top Hat Talent for 8 years and I could not disagree more with some of the comments. It has been a wonderful experience with a great staff. We have been to two other studios and unless you have been somewhere else you cannot appreciate how organized and professional Top Hat Talent is. Someone said that it was expensive. Unless you are dancing in a city recreational program, any private dance studio in the metro has the same prices. Believe me I have called every one of them. The lessons range from $40-$45 a month. I found the costumes at Top Hat Talent to actually be a little cheaper than most studios. In all fairness, they were cheaper than my son's soccer and baseball uniforms.I feel lucky to have found such a positive environment for my daughter to take dance and have a group of people she feels like is her extended family. more

Top Hat Talent Performing Arts is my home, whats with the bad reviews? 7/24/2009

Top Hat Talent has been my home since i was 3 and WILL be my home until a graduating senior. The teachers are amazing and i really dont know what i could do without them. They don't just think of you as a dancer, when you come into top hat your apart of thier family. When somebody has thierfirst period and nobody was thier to talk to them they were thier support, boyfriend issues, they were there. They love you no matter illness or not, tall or short, skinny or fat, they love you for who you are and thats what matters. Not to mention 1st overall solos, national finalist, and great choreography.\r So quit with the whining and go to top hat talent performing arts studio. :) more

I'm a competitive dancer at Top Hat. 6/16/2009

I love top hat! Every one there is nice and very welcoming and loving. We are a family at top hat. Dance is not just a hobby, but very much a sport, so it does hurt, ALOT, but thats how you get better. We do have a dress code now, the teachers enforce very seriously. Some of our previous dancers now dance for the Thunder and Ou. Competitive dancing is expensive, but Top Hat offers recreational classes that are way less expensive. We have a workshop once a year with some of the best dance teachers in the country, so not all of our teachers are from Top Hat.My friend used to go to All That Dance and is now switching to Top Hat because they were not challenging enough for her and her dancing has not improved there, she's only spent at week at top hat and has gotten 10 times better. All That Dance is awful, I've been to their recital, and they can't even compete against us because they are not even close to our level, if that tells you anything. more

NOT A GOOD DANCE STUDIO 5/19/2009

My oldest daughter went to All That Dance when she was 3. I should have taken my youngest daughter there as well but thought I would try top hat. Apparently there is no dress code because the girls come to dance looking like hoochies in ripped tights. The dances are horrible and no one is together EVER. The teachers are way to young and do not know how to connect with the 3 year olds- it is just AWFUL. We are definitely changing in the fall -both of my girls will be going to ALL THAT DANCE! more

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE 1/11/2009

This dance studio is a real piece of work. The studio claims to run on Christian ideology and action-nothing could be further from the truth. The staff is verbally and emotionally abusive. Do not send your children here for the sake of their emotional/mental well-being. This studio is the truest form of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Beware. \r The instructors are all former students because no one else will work there. That alone should tell you something. more

Great Dance Studio 9/9/2008

We are not currently patrons of THT, but have been in the past for several years. The owners are wonderful, and all of the teachers and helpers are great too. They have a wide variety of classes for all age groups. It is expensive, but dance is expensive anywhere you go by the time you add in costumes, shoes, tuition competitions, and others costs.\r My kids loved it when we were there. They are very professional and have great choreography.\r Then end of the season recitals are always a blast, and everyone enjoys watching what the kids worked so hard for all year. more

TOP HAT IS THE BEST PLACE ALIVE. 9/23/2007

It kills me to hear bad things about top hat.\r Top hat is my home.\r I love it there,\r i don't know what you're talking about when you said that they don't allow you to cry, because my sister is now the three year old teacher and i've helped with the two year olds, and they most definitely cry, and we do nothing but try to cheer them up. The owners love every single kid that walks in those doors and care about them a lot. \r If you're considering putting your child into a dance class, i highly suggest top hat. it's the best thing that's happened to me, coming from one studio to the next, and now having danced at top hat for five years, my only regret was not going there from the beginning.\r I LOVE THT! more

Very expensive 7/20/2007

Top hat talent was very expensive. For just one class a week it's at least $40.00 per month but most of the girls participate in multiple classes as well as competitions which drives up the price even more. Seems like it's only the place for you if your willing to shell out big bucks. more

a little pricy 11/23/2005

We tried out Top Hats for my daughter. She has health issues that make it hard for her at times. She was told she could never ever cry while she was practicing. This normally would not be a problem. It became one when she had some pains in her legs. She cried and told them she needed a break. She was yelled at and told they dont allow cry babies there. This is when she was younger and we decided if it was a problem that a 3 yr old cried it was probley not the place for us. By the way she found out later she had a health issues with her feet. When she cried because she was hurting she was really hurting. The best thing we ever did was leave. PROS: none CONS: staff more
