Great Food! 1/2/2009

8 of us went to Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Square for dinner and had such a great time. The waiters and the bartenders were so nice to us. They have a very nice variety of food and there is something for everyone. All of us enjoyed our meals and everyone had something different. We had no complaints! Next time I am in Cambridge again I plan to go back as I loved the people there. The prices are so reasonable for such a nice meal. We also had a few in our party from out of town and they really enjoyed themselves! more

not the place to be 5/10/2007

I used to go to this place often- it had great bartenders and the waitstaff were pretty good- unfortunately, the place has started to go downhill-noticed almost all the waistaff i knew have now left, never a good sign...also, this site wont let me post website addresses, but, there was an article online today from the cambridge chronicle about an unsightly insect found in this place in a persons food, amoungst numerous other health code violations..needless to say, i think i may start heading elsewhere to grab drinks after work, more

They're at it again!! 12/30/2006

So, after reading the obviously self-written Tommy Doyle's posts on the Harvard Square location, I checked out the location closer to my job. And imagine what I found- the same posts. TD's managers - let the customers do the talking! That being said, I often frequent the Kendall Square location with my coworkers and have pretty much a swell time each time. My favorite waitresses are Katie and Vinti. I had Jen once - she was pretty much horrible and abrasive. Are you that hard-strapped for waitresses? And... do you really charge $2 for BREAD!? Jen does. I could buy a whole loaf for half that. Ok I'll stop now... Pros: yummy food, cheese Cons: I won't mention her name again, but... see above. more

Avoid lunchtimes! 12/20/2006

I made a 12 noon reservation for 5 people and we got seated promptly. After looking for service on numerous occasions a server came back to us 40 mintues later with a string of apologies. Before this she had seated and taken orders from multiple other tables who came in after us. At 1 pm, a whole hour after sitting we got glasses of water... she forgot the beer! The food finally came after another bit of waiting: appetizers and entrees all together. More apologies. We won't be going back there for lunch in the future. Its completely understaffed and all the waitresses wear their long hair down, which, looks nice yeah, but in the food industry is kinda gross. "Sorry!" Pros: food is good Cons: service is brutal more

Great place for lunch, afterwork drinks 1/17/2006

Working right in the area at a biotech, I've had the pleasure of frequenting this place for three years now. Never have I been disappointed. The lunches are served fast, and the place has a great busy atmosphere. The patio during the summertime is the best in Cambridge. Afterwork, my friends and I stay to the bar mostly where delicious pints are served by some of the friendliest bartenders I know. Overall, a great pub. Pros: good service, weekend brunch, outdoor dining more

Irish Gem in the Heart of Kendall Sq. Cambridge 4/13/2005

This bar is truly a gem in the heart of Kendall Sq. The bar scene is really fun, the bartenders are all really fun. And the food is great for the price point. The seafood pasta is full of mussles, scallops, salmon and calamari. My girlfriend had the sheapards pie and love it reminded it of the one her mother used to bake. I would highly recomend if you are going to Kendall Cinema hit Tommy Doyle's first. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Really Fun Cons: Lighting, Volume more

Irish Bar and Restaurant 6/8/2003

This is a good place to catch a quick meal before going to the Kendall theatre, or to have a bite after work. Its too noisy for a "meaningful date," but great if you are with a group of friends. There is a good selection of food and moderate price. The outdoor seating is super for people watching. The bar is lots of fun, "real" Irish atmosphere. The staff seem to all have Irish accents and are friendly. Pros: moderate price, good food, some outdoor tables Cons: noisy more

Irish Warmth at One Kendall Square 6/7/2003

Tommy Doyle's is not about shamrocks and green stuff, its an Irish owned bar and restaurant that exudes Irish friendliness and warmth. Those who disparage "Irish cuisine" are wise to try the Irish menu items before digging in their heels. The Bangers and Mash is tasty; the corned beef and cabbage is excellent -- with al dente cabbage (a nod to Cambridge tastes?); and the Irish stew is like your grandma used to make. The daily specials are reasonably priced and often outstanding. (The wood-grilled pork chops are one such offering.) The menu also offers typical pub grub (burgers, sandwiches, nachos) and assorted salads. Of course, the bar is the heart and soul of Tommy Doyle's. Bring a friend and enjoy a pint of Guinness or your favorite brew. Don't have a friend with you? Smile. You will have one in a twinkle. Its that friendly of a place. Sláinte! Pros: Friendly, fun atmosphere, outdoor patio Cons: needs more room more

It's a pub 6/5/2003

The restaurant is pretty average for food (not bad for the price but not amazing either); nothing outstanding except they do a decent lobster special on Thursday nights for $9.99 that's hard to beat. The small bar is a true Irish pub, and Guinness is poured nicely although a bit on the cooler side for anyone from the northern half of Ireland. If you've been to Ireland, you'll think this is the perfect place to hang out; if not, you'll probably think it sucks but that's your problem. Pros: authentic, Irish Cons: average food more

  • In Short
Thanks to its location in the One Kendall Square courtyard, this comfortable restaurant attracts area tecchies for lunch and after-work drinks. The bar area hosts live music (most weekends), and friendly waitresses deliver a steady stream of Guinness. Come summertime, open tables on the breezy outdoor patio can be hard to come by. Popular menu items include "ploughman's" potato skins (melted cheddar, smoked bacon and sharp green onions), juicy beef burgers and sizzling fajita platters.
