The Queensborough

I moved here to The Queensborough a couple years ago. I love the building and location. I feel right at home here. The building is a quiet, safe and has security entry doors with a peep hole camera. I love my apartment, it looks out at the Puget Sound and The Space Needle. I am only a couple of blocks to Safeway, Easy Street Records, Subway, Bars and resturants. Where is my no star option? When I first moved in and did the walk through with the apartment manager there, I was informed and saw duly noted in the paperwork that the spots in the carpet would be not fall to my lot to deal with. Don't trust ANY APARTMENT MANAGERS ! My sister-in-law, who also had the misfortune of renting there, aptly called it The Hellsborough for a reasong.\r \r Reason 1: They are cheap. Meaning that they don't go to any great lengths to make the place look better. The rents are higher than moderate, yet you are lucky if you see any renovations within a particular year.\r \r Reason 2: They don't do good business. I asked maybe four times for paperwork related to my apartment, which I had the right to have. Only when I threatened to bring in outside help to get me my paperwork did the paperwork finally show up on my doorstep.\r \r Forget about getting ANY of your deposit back no matter how well you take care of the place. I have witnesses to attest to the fact that I made the place look BETTER than it had when I initially moved in. I took the spots that were there before I moved in out of the carpet and deep cleaned everything and got none of the deposit back.\r \r I made the mistake of double-paying the last month's rent there, and then realized I had already paid first and last. The management talked as if they would deliberate about whether or not they would refund me that money. I told them they had no choice, and they finally saw the light and reimbursed me. Shouldn't have had to fight with them about it, though. That's a no-brainer.\r \r Reason 3: there is no freedom of expression allowed. I know a former tenant who received harrassment due to her political beliefs. What a person believes and free expression does not stop at the doors of a public apartment building. When I left, I felt as if I were leaving Gestapo headquarters.\r \r Good riddance to that place ! And to tenants who are thinking or renting there, taking pictures of your place is not enough. They will get you in very insidious, unfair ways. Watch your back. more
