I'm in love with Sushi Avenue! 5/6/2010

Tradition is key! 12/6/2009

It's a good they take the effort to keep to tradition. Very hospitable and the environment and other patrons aren't bad at all. Being that this is an inland area the fish is frozen on ice an transported here. Usually fish caught fresh taste better. Pros: good price, good food, nice people Cons: imported fish more

great value 7/25/2009

A great little sushi place that serves very good quality Japanese food for very reasonable prices. Unlike a previous post, judging from my Chinese palate, the rice is nothing less than excellent. Also very family friendly. The freshness of its sashimi is on par with MF Sushi Bar which is three to four times more expensive. Pros: reasonable prices, really fresh sashimi, great tempura Cons: parking can be a hassle at times more

Consistently Great Hole in the Wall Sushi Joint 2/9/2009

Our favorite sushi place in Atlanta. Forget the places with hype and trendy names. Sushi Avenue is consistently great. The sushi is melt in your mouth fresh every time, and the staff is always friendly and courteous. more

Fresh and Authentic 7/1/2008

Sushi Avenue is a long time favorite. This little restaurant is hidden at the side of a building along east Ponce in downtown decatur. The restaurant is small, but the taste is big. The fish is very fresh and they even use real crab instead of krab. more

Great sushi, great service, relaxed atmosphere 2/18/2008

We've been going to Sushi avenue almost as long as we've lived in Decatur (since 1999), and it's been consistently excellent the entire time. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the environment is pleasant but not too formal, and the prices are quite reasonable given the quality.\r \r It may be possible to find better sushi elsewhere in Atlanta, but I've never been able to. I'd have to say it compares quite favorably with what I've had in San Francisco and Tokyo. more

what an sushi experience 1/7/2008

A friend told me about this place so I went to check it out. I was delighted to have found the sushi chef that I was searching for. Chef Jack is here at the Sushi Avenue!! The place was very nice and the food is beyond comparison. I have been a sushi lover for many years and even been to the MF sushi. But this is the place for me. The food is very reasonably priced. And the Chef is the greatest!! Just as I remembered it. When I opened the door and entered the bar, I felt a familiar feeling. A feeling of joy and happiness. What a great feeling. What really surprises me is that Chef Jack remembered who I'm and recreated a dinning experience for me and then shared some more new things with me. I was totally happy. I must say; however, with every great place, there's always room for improvement . The service is kind of slow. and under staffed. Other than that, ererything is great!! SUPER!!! Pros: GREAT SUSHI !! GREAT CHEF !! Cons: Parking, lazy service more

good sushi in Decatur 11/11/2007

We enjoy going to Sushi Avenue in Decatur. The sushi is always very fresh and very well presented. Prices are good and service is nothing less than prompt. The restaurant isn?t pretentious, but it is very nice. It could certainly be a nice date place. The last time we went we sat at the sushi bar which was entertaining, but if you prefer not to be that close to the action, there are plenty of well placed tables throughout the restaurant. I believe they have a shop on the square as well, but we have only gone to the West Ponce location, a few blocks away from the square. Pros: fresh sushi, well priced, good atmosphere Cons: none to speak of more

Great place for the price, good value 6/25/2007

I loved the atmosphere, i loved the food. It was an overall great experience. The menue was easy to understand, and the customer service was outstanding more

Earth Day Sushi & Cool Bento Boxes! Marta Construction Is Over! 4/14/2007

Yes today is Earth Day, and we are at the Square in Decatur To Celebrate! The Marta construction is over, the fence is down, and now everyone can see Sushi Ave., Birdies, and Sage. We came into this little shotgun gem, after listening to the bands on the square. So hip and cool, brick walls, sushi bar, and little tables for two. A little table for two was perfect, with hot tea. Luncheon Bento Boxes were for us. Each one comes with Miso Soup and a small salad with tangy Ginger Dressing. Next that cool Bento Box. Eight, yes I said eight, pieces of delicious California Roll w/Wasbi & Ginger, Tempura of Shrimp & Vegetables, and Rice. All this for the lowly price of $6.95. This is a bargain, and the service was pure royalty. Everytime I took a drink of water or tea, my server was at my table to refill. I was almost afraid to have a drink, but at the same time, I cannot remember service like this. One of the coolest little sushi bars in the metro. Pros: Great Sushi, Prices, and Terrific Service! Cons: Parking Can Be Tricky, If Driving! more

Fantastic! 11/1/2006

Great atmosphere, Friendly service, Fun music, and FANTASTIC sushi! More expensive than some, but the price is right for the quality. One of Decatur's jewels. Pros: Great, varied menu more

SLOW SERVICE!!!! 7/23/2005

Warning: The service is very slow, but grat food. This traditional sushi bar is not your trendy sushi bar that charges more because of the atmosphere and decor while skimping on quality food. Presentation is average, but taste is excellent. Spicy Tuna Crunch roll and Bluefin Crab Garlic roll are great. Go early as they seem to understaff the palce and are already slow to begin with. Pros: Sushi, Taste, Price Cons: Service, Parking more

Good sushi 6/12/2005

I enjoy the sushi--the Decatur rolls and Spicy Tuna especially. Negatives: We don't necessarily look for atmosphere but if you do, this isn't exactly the place; and servers can be neglectful even when it is not busy. Pros: Value more

Favorite 5/2/2004

This restaurant is wonderful! Having eaten at most of the sushi restaurants in town the quality of the food and service is unbelievable. A must try! more

Excellent sushi, service 8/24/2003

We went on a Wednesday night and it was pleasantly filled to about half capacity. The service was a little slow, but very cordial and accomodating. The food - excellent. Easily some of the best I've had. Don't miss the Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll.. great stuff! Pros: Great food, Lychee ice cream, Courteous staff Cons: A little pricey more

Decatur Sushi 3/25/2003

This might be the best sushi in Decatur, but NOT the best in Atlanta. The service is ok, but the place is not the cleanest in town. DON'T go on a date to this place !! more

Waaa-sabiii...bang for the buck! 8/7/2002

I've had sushi all over the country, from California to Albany, NY to Virginia and points inbetween...I've had sushi In London and Spain. For the money, I feel that the quality of the cuisine and the service at Sushi Avenue is consistently the best I've ever had the pleasure of indulging in. The service is sometimes a little slow, but my friends and I are never in a hurry to leave, anyway! I strongly recommend maknig reservations on the weekend; they fill up fast, with good reason. Pros: chefs are amicable, always fresh, never gotten sick! Cons: parking, loud customers, cellphone users more

Best Decatur Sushi 7/29/2002

Consistent and good. Kitchen is clean and service is prompt. more

Great Sushi at an Affordable Price 5/12/2002

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Atlanta. It can't be beat for the price. Though it can be crowded on weekends, I've never had to wait longer than 20-30 minutes, and it's always been worth the wait. There's no pretention here, just great tasting, fresh sushi. The seaweed salad is a personal favorite. Pros: Fresh sushi Cons: Can be crowded more
