Beers, Big Screens, B-Days and Karaoke OH MY!!!!! 1/28/2011

*****A MUST VISIT PDX DESTINATION*****\r \r Allie here ,, and oh what a time January of 2011 my birthday ,,,, and well i am still kicking. Potent Delicious cocktails were flowing with EXCELLENT smiley service! Not to mention the FISH and chips (they have HALIBUT.. the real stuff) yumm don't forget BBQ and CHEAP CHEAP yummy I drank to much and need BREAKFAST breakfast :) just like the ""greasy spoons"" we all secretly LOVE\r \r This location just west of Raleigh Hills is supremely located for the Portland and Beaverton metro areas. They have Pool tables... Trivia .. poker tournaments and BEER .. happy hour specials and TV's galore.. (they even show NASCAR.. a lot) .. but they show everything else too there are TV's everywhere! plus.. yes KARAOKE!!!! good bad and ugly .. you know you love it and so does table #5 :0 ... you know the ""special kids"". \r \r The atmosphere is friendly and humble.. GREAT service GREAT servers shout out to Laurel..Jaime.. Shaundra (sorry for wrong spelling?) and Roxanne and her RedLight after midnight shhhhh... you have to see for yourself!! Their entire staff is QUICK and KNOWLEDGEABLE .. no need for whipping out the bartender manual here .. they will help you with drinks and food choices... because you might need help with their extensive menu! and they are FAST!!! no downtown pdx lines or cover charges! COME ON IN! more

Best bar in Beaverton 1/28/2011

I love this place, always have.. always will. Great drink specials on Wednesday nights, great food, and an awesome atmosphere. Michelle, Nate, and the rest of the Pit Stop crew are super cool people and will make an effort to get to know you and make you feel welcome. I've thrown my last 2 birthday parties there and both of them were a blast. I always recommend the Pit Stop to my friends, and you should definitely check it out next time you go looking for some BBQ or a fun bar to hang out at. Five stars!! more

BBQ, THEMED PARTIES, KARAOKE, and FUN LOCALS! 1/26/2011

If there was just one thing I could change about this place, it would be it's location. It's just far enough out of Portland proper that I can't get my non-Pit Stop friends to come hang out.... Other than that? PERFECT!\r \r Great food, great people, fun atmosphere, and all the sports you want. They cover just about every major sports event. The staff makes you feel like an old friend. The drinks are fairly prices and the Karaoke rocks my mutha truck'n socks! I used to live across the street from this place and even though I had choices galore of where to spend my hard earned greenbacks, \r \r I choose to spend them in the place where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came, Don't you want to be where you can see our troubles are all the same? You WANT to be where everybody knows your name..... \r \r Trust me on this. If you're feeling funky, talk to Michelle, the Pit Stop party planner, she'll throw you a psychedelic funk'd out 70's party. Did you miss Prom because you were at that sweet KISS concert or home scrapbooking with gam-gam, just talk to Michelle, She'll throw you a Prom Night Party. Looking for an excuse to show off that mustache you had tattooed on the inside of your pointer finger because you went through a hipster phase and made some bad decisions? Well HELL! Talk to Michelle, she'll throw you a Mustache party! \r \r My point is this people.... If your throat is parched, lips chapped, and voice is shot? Pass on that quickie mart, sail by freddy's, skip over those fast food joints..... \r \r When you need a drink that's served with a smile and a wink, no place will treat you finer. When you want a bite that is down-right out of sight! You should have but one desire. Come watch your team kick butt on the big screen, while the karaoke sets the house on FIRE! Do like I do when I want to party with wreckless abandon, I stop in at the Pit Stop Bar and Grill on Canyon.\r \r - El Capitan more

Best BBQ around! 11/13/2010

Found this place almost by accident - was getting my tires rotated at Les Schwab across the street. Had a long wait, so decided to get some lunch and relax instead of waiting in the rubber smelling showroom. What a surprise! The bartender, Nancy, was friendly and helpful. She recommended the BBQ special, a pulled pork sandwich. It was divine! Lots of meat, tender and moist. The BBQ sauces were amazing - the hot one kicked my butt but was so good! I hear they do karaoke 4 nights a week - I'll be back to check that out. This is my new secret spot. more

OK for what it is 7/20/2009

Had lunch in the bar. The bartender worked hard on being friendly and had a nice smile. Her drinks were great, but her menu suggestion sounded forced for a classic Portland bar. The bar its self was very small and cosy with an amazing amount of tvs for such a small space. Perfectly dark and with about a quarter of the space taken up with video poker. The rest was about 12 bar seats. I ordered the ""famous"" Brisket sandwich with garlic fries. I liked the fries, but was very put off by the brisket. The sandwich was built like a burger (chopped green leaf, onion and tomato slice), which I felt was strange, but whatever. The brisket tasted way too much like boiled beef, almost wet cardboard. No brine, no rub, almost no smoke. Not BBQ. \r They offered two types of house BBQ sauce. A firey and normal. Both tasted like ketchup with some basic flavors add, the firey not hot enough. \r If I go back, maybe I'll try one of their ""Portland Best"" burgers. Pros: Nice strong drinks Cons: BBQ lacking in quality more

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL 1/27/2009

I am shocked that ANY would rate their food good. It is atrocious! I ordered the chicken and it looked like a poor little bird laying on it's side with it's head cut off. It was enough to make me a vegetarian. I'm not adverse to eating meat but I don't like it to look so much like it would have looked alive. So, trying to get past the look, the meat was pink and it had an overwhelming (as in too much) smokey taste to it. The poppers were adequate at best and the potato salad was a mustard potato salad, which may appeal to some was not what I was expected nor was it enjoyable. After 3 bites of the chicken I knew I could not continue with it. I took the rest home to my dog, who is less picky about his quality of food. Pretty expensive dog food though, unfortunately. Pros: Waitress was nice Cons: Food was terrible, waste of money more

Mmmm, yummy above average bar food! 10/20/2008

My boyfriend I recently ate at the Pit Stop and were both impressed with the food and atmosphere. I had the pulled pork and pineapple pizza which was very good (would have been slightlly better had the pulled pork been basted in bbque sauce) and my boyfriend had a bacon swiss burger with garlic fries which were out of this world! The service was also pretty good for a bar..(it wasn't very busy). Next time we go, I will totally try some of their bbque as the smoker smelled yummy as we were leaving. Next time we will also come a little earlier as they have happy hour 3-6 M-Sun! Pros: selection of food and price..very reasonable! Cons: smoke..lots of it! more

Food is great here! 6/3/2008

Well, I'm over 30 and I love this place. The food is incredible for the price, and the drinks.....well, let's just say I don't get up early the next morning! The karaoke is the best on this side of town, and the crowd is pleasant and fun to sing with/to. I like that they turn the game on I'm looking for if I ask. Pros: Food, price, staff Cons: Best neighborhood bar around! more

NO LONGER A CHEERFUL ESTABLISHMENT 5/3/2008

This business is no longer a Cheerful Establishment. Otherwise a great location, really like the BBQ and enjoy the new patio outside. Pros: TV'S Cons: Smoke more

WAY LOUD 4/27/2008

Smokey, extremely loud. Needed something to eat and a brew to wash it down with. It didn't happen. This was a Saturday, unfortunately the guy on the mike was so loud, we had to leave. This is not a place for people over 30 in my opinion. Pros: Easy to find Cons: smokey, loud more

Great Sports Bar 4/4/2008

This is heaven for a sports fan, lots of TV's, cheap drinks and reasonable food. The new management is really trying to move this place upscale and have made many improvements. I love it, Pros: Great Sports Bar Cons: Service could be a little better more

Great Ribs, Good Service 2/27/2008

For a local bar, the food is super. Ribs are great and breakfast is cheap great stop for College Footbal and Basketball. Service can a little slow, but everone is friendly. Beats the competition. Fun place to hang out. Good parking. Plenty of TV's Pros: Plenty of TV, for the sports fan Cons: Service can be off. more

Best neighborhood bar in town! 11/14/2007

The Cheerful Pit Stop is a great new destination in Beaverton off Canyon Road. They are the only bar I know with a custom wood smoker and authentic BBQ ribs, brisket, and smoked turkey. They also have huge burgers for about $5.00. I think they are better than any burger place in town. They also have non-smoking dining, which is important to me. I usually come in for breakfast or lunch. The selection on the menu is amazing and includes homemade soups, salads, daily specials, specialty sandwiches, burgers, all breakfast items except waffles, steaks, BBQ, and it is really cheap! Who serves a full breakfast for $1.99 anymore?? The staff and the customers are really friendly. It reminds me of ""Cheers"". Check it out! more

Good food but terrible service 9/28/2007

I have been here twice and the first time the service was REALLY slow but very friendly. It wasn't very crowded so I'm not sure why the service was so slow. I also was hoping to watch the NASCAR race, it was a Saturday evening so I figured there would be no problem. But no they had all of the tv's on college football and baseball. We finally found a spot in the corner where they would switch 1 tv to NASCAR. The second time I went on a Sunday to watch the NASCAR race, I figured it would be on since the bar is called the Cheerful Pit Stop. I went on the day the Jim Beam racecar was parked out front of the bar, I was so excited to watch the race and have some good food. But when I walked in all of the tv's had football on them, some were just duplicates since there are a lot of tv's there. After I sat down and waited 10 minutes to be helped I asked if they could change a tv to the race and the waitress said she would check. After awhile she came back and said so they are all on football. So we asked the bartender if one of the tv's could be switched but again she said no. We mentioned the fact that this was suppose to be a race bar and the Jim Beam car was there, but they did not care. Seriously, I understand there are a lot of football fans out there but the one bar you would think would have the race on didn't. They wouldn't even change one of the tv's that was a duplicate football game. The service is bad but the food is great. Pros: Good Food, Good if you want to watch football Cons: Slow service-even when its not busy, doesn't show NASCAR more

Best Ribs in town 7/26/2007

After getting a whiff of the smoker out front, I had to try the ribs - and what a treat! The flavor is wonderful, and the spicy BBQ sauce should be bottled and sold. The brisket is great too. I don't go in very often because of the smokers, but I get take out a lot. They package it very nicely with all the condiments. Try it you'll like it. Pros: Food, Service, Ribs Cons: Smoking more

Great food, good service 4/13/2007

Great food, good prices and the staff is AWESOME! Enjoyed my visit very much and recomment the Pit Stop to everyone. more

It really is ""The Best Deal In Town""! 4/12/2007

I love the breakfast and Bloody Marys on weekends after a long Friday or Saturday night. The atmosphere is comfortable and all the waitresses are super friendly. I went on a Friday night thinking it was going to be a ""Pit Stop"" before clubbing, but didn't leave until the bar almost closed! I like to shoot pool and they have 2 pool tables in addition to all the plasma screens. Lots of fun and great people! Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere, Pool Cons: Only one way out of parking lot more

Great sports bar in Beaverton with tasty food! 4/12/2007

The Cheerful Pit Stop is a sports bar on Canyon Road just west of the Walker Road intersection. This place is as good as any sports bar I've been to. They have at least 30 plasma screens located around the pub showing every sport you can imagine. I've asked to change the channel of a screen that I was watching and the staff was happy to do it. The food is excellent. They have a smoker in front of the building and they smoke their own baby back ribs, beef brisket, and turkey. I've tried them all and love them. My favorite is their fish and chips. They cut their own fresh halibut! Terrific! The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is fun. Overall it is just a great place to enjoy yourself! Pros: Prices, food, and lots of plasma screens more
