Sic Semper. THE ORCHARD IS CLOSED. This is what you get for thinking you can go from lazy corp. catering & a shot & beer bar to ""fine dining."" While the hard working chefs did the best they could, and I give them respect. (Some at least) But to Robbie & Char, good luck, stick with what you know. Pull your heads out & see the light for once. My wife is a gifted cook and we consider ourselves very hard to impress. When we want a special meal, we usually make it ourselves. However, my parents love to go out to eat and they wanted to treat us for my wife's birthday. Everything was wonderful from the smoked trout salad to the vanilla bean creme brulee. Even our two picky teenagers found entrees they liked. We had the pork chops, pasta with marinara sauce and chicken, ahi tuna with cilantro, halibut with mango salsa, broiled scallops and lamb chops. I had a bite of almost everything (allergic to scallops >:-() ) and it was all superb. For dessert, I had the creme brulee, Mom and Dad split the espresso cheesecake and the birthday girl had the chocolate torte (the teenagers went to the bar to watch a soccer game on TV). The atmosphere was lovely and charming. We were in a small private room off the main dining room that just improved the experience. The service was excellent and overall we had a wonderful experience. Both the owner and the manager came to our table to see if everything was satisfactory. Being a do-it-yourself foodie I always get sticker shock when the check comes, but in this case I think it was definitely worth it. Pros: Varied and creative menu, excellent food and service more

Glad I did not take nanocooks's advice - reason being I see they trash a lot of great restaurants. Anyway, though I would agree they had some rough spots with service early on, BUT the staff at The Orchard has improved by leaps and bounds - they have truly weeded out the poorer servers and have taken their customer service to the next level. The food is top quality, the prices are extremely reasonable and there is HUGE variety in the price range to satisfy anyone's budget. I don't understand the wisecrack about the internet menu - I constantly talk to other diners who cannot say enough about the originality of the menu, and the welcome return to a rounded full meal that includes 2 sides and huge portions! It really is a wonderful diverse menu that does not attempt Asian fusion, or French cuisine - It is basic, high quality food prepared in creative and innovative ways. Every restaurant does not suit every person, ,but The Orchard is what they say they are - upscale dining in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. more

This is somthing special for the lehigh valley. A upscale eatery with top of the line food and unpretentious service.You have many choices of places to go along these lines when travling to Philly or NewYork city. But this little (140 seat) eatery , bar , and cocktail lounge is situated on the fringe of a beautiful apple orchard . All hand made furniture and decorations harkens to a day where things were simpler , you know a real meat and potatos place. It just so happens that the orchard specilizes in the best meat (usda prime beef and fresh seafood). A trip just outside Allentowns west end will not come up short on food , drink , or service. Service was horrable. Everything was over priced. The chef that created the menu should be shot. The atmosphere was ok. The porterhouse was good, but not worth the money. It will be a cold day in hell if I step foot in there again. Pros: The drinks were made well Cons: I bet someone pretending to be a chef stole the menu off of the internet more
