The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Plano

We ate at the Keg Saturday night for the first time. It was a great experience. Our food was great, staff was pleasent. We will go back there. more

With a name like The Keg one would expect this to be a bad fraternity bar. And while part of the retaurant is a bar that's been sectioned off from the rest, that's not the section I'm writing about. I made reservations for a monday near Valentine's day, and the waitress asked me if it was an anniversary. I said yes, so they reserved us the most romantic spot in the entire restaurant, right in front of the fireplace. Over the speakers the soft sound of Nina Simone was heard. The atmosphere was casual, yet intimate, with an upscale 1930's feel. We had an appetizer of freshly-grilled escargot, which may sound disgusting, but they were delicious. While we had caesar salads, a staple of Texas restaurants, they were still delicious. When ordering our steaks I had initially asked for well-done, however the waiter persuaded me to try it cooked to medium and he was right in doing so. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant, and the waiters try to give you a personal touch. Pros: Excellent steaks for a reasonable price more

The service at The Keg does NOT reflect the prices. You would think you were dining at a MUCH more expensive restaurant! Our hosts and waiters have consistently gone above and beyond and shown us nothing but great outstanding service. The atmosphere is mildly romantic, although it can get awfully crowded for dinner on the weekends and holidays so it's wise to make reservations ahead of time! Recently, we went for a nice romantic date and were a bit surprised to find a lot of kids there. I love kids - just NOT at any restaurant I like. However, the professionalism of the staff distracted me enough to not care as much as I usually would.\r \r The food is the best part, though. From the baseball sirloin to the delicious prime rib to the wonderfully tender lobster, there isn't anything on the menu that we haven't loved. My favorite dish is the ""Keg-sized"" prime rib (22oz) with the lobster tail in butter and a twice-baked potato($35). My wife loves the baseball sirloin, which is so thick it can only be cooked to medium rare before burning. They obviously know what they are doing in the kitchen! \r \r The Keg also offers a birthday members program. If you register with them, you should receive a gift certificate that is redeemable for a steak and a lobster tail - how's THAT for gaining customer loyalty? With three locations in Ft. Worth, Willow Bend, and Las Colinas, there's no reason why anyone shouldn't be able to experience this excellent example of a fine steakhouse. With The Keg, the standard of excellence has been set very high. Between the name and the proximity to a mall, we were not expecting too much from this restaurant. We were more than pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent - steaks cooked to our exact spefications and seasoned perfectly. We had the chocolate pyramid for dessert and it was both beautiful and delicious. Because we signed up for their mailing list, we each received a coupon for a free steak and lobster dinner during our birthday month. The steak was delicious and the lobster tail was both large and succulent. We recommend this restuarant to everyone!
