Editorial review from Citysearch 8/1/2012

My family and I have been coming to Teru sushi for a long time. It isn't fancy, but it is delicious, fresh, well made Japanese food. Also, the sushi selection is pretty good, and from the rolls I have ordered - the knifework is great and the materials are fresh. Delicious sashimi, too. \r \r They put a lot of attention into the little details of making the food well (e.g. the lettuce in the salad has been chopped up to remove those crap center parts). \r \r Also, the place is run by a Japanese family who obviously cares about making you happy. It is a good place to keep in your back pocket for the times you just want delicious, affordable Japanese food and you don't want the hooplah of many of the other sushi restaurants like the Happy Sumo and the like. more

Hidden Gem 11/14/2009

I love this place. Its the little hidden gem in my neighborhood. Please don't go, I'd like to keep it to myself. I love how much of a family business it is. Teru is close to my heart. Casual, good eats, incredibly clean and easy on the wallet. Pros: Food, prices Cons: nada more

Fried Utahan Roll! 3/12/2008

I have been to Teru Sushi 2 x already. The 1st time I ordered take out on a busy Friday night. But it was well worth the wait. It was delicous and they where huge at the bacherlotte party that I grabbed them for. \r Today I really wanted the Utahan roll again I have tried many things but this is my favorite, I quickly placed my order and it took only 10 minutes to order, pay, and wait for it to get ready. I was back at work before my lunch break was even over.SIMPLY DELICOUS! Pros: QUICKER TAKE OUT SERVICE Cons: NOT MANY TABLES TO SIT AT DURING PEAK TIMES more

Best Sushi in Utah Hands Down!!! 8/7/2007

Teru Sushi definately has the best and freshest sushi in Utah. I am from Los Angeles and I am used to the best in Sushi. This place really is great, and it is affordable. The place can get packed during the prime lunch rush and prime dinner hour especially on weekends. If you are in a hurry you are best to go at an off hour or simply express that to the sushi chef or server they have always been good about accomadating if you tell them ahead of time. All of their rolls are unbelievable but the sunset and the charlie are ridicously yummy! more

BEst Sushi in Salt Lake 5/6/2007

I have eaten at most if not all sushi places in Salt Lake and I find the food here is simply the best. A real bonus is the cleanliness of the place. I think you could eat off the floor. I am a regular at several sushi bars in Salt Lake but I have yet to find one better than Teru Sushi.\r \r The service has usually been good for me. The staff has been freindly and only a little slow when busy. The food has always been worth the wait.\r I am skeptical that the chef would ever send out bad fish. He is a true expert and very knowledgable. Sit at the sushi bar and ask questions. Few no more about the art in Salt Lake.\r \r \r Pros: food cleanliness Cons: all is good more

Excellent Sushi, ok Service 10/27/2006

I recently at at Teru Sushi for the first time. I was a bit nervous trying a new place that was a bit off the beaten path, but it was highly recommended by my date. \r \r He knew the chef and the waitresses and they seemed friendly, but it took them a long time to take our order. Eventually my date just handed him the ticket instead. The waitress... I think her name was Sandy, was nice when she stopped by our table, but it wasn't often.\r \r On the up side, the food was absolutely amazing. We ordered a rainbow roll, a Mars roll, a spider roll, Saki and a squid salad. I think we had something else too, but it escapes me. \r \r All of the dishes were excellent and looked and smelled wonderful. I think our bill was just under $40. Which I thought was reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. We didn't even eat it all. My date let me take the leftovers home and they were quickly eaten! \r \r I suspected the poor service was not typical and they were keeping their distance because they knew this was a first date and didn't want to intrude. Even though the date didn't work out, the sushi was very memorable. I am planning on returning soon. Pros: Amazingly fresh Sushi Cons: Lack of service more

Worst Sushi Experience Ever 4/1/2006

I am always open to trying new sushi places, especially one that is obviously family owned, but our experience at Teru sushi was deplorable. The hostess seemed like it was an inconvenience to seat us, the waitress actually made a visible effort to ignore us, and we actually sent a roll back because the fish was bad. The rolls we did eat were sloppily made and overpriced, and I can't help but once again mention how terrible the service was. I understand that it could have been an off night, but our experience was so bad, we won't be back for a second try. Pros: Cheap Kirin Cons: Deplorable Service more

Best/Freshest Sushi in Utah - Great Price 3/20/2006

I am a sushi lover, I have eaten at sushi restaurants all over the west coast and Teru has some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. I am so tired of paying a ridiculous amount of money for ""ambience"" and bad sushi. Teru is a little family owned place that prides themselves on great sushi and good service. The chef there is a master. He will make you whatever you want, but the menu is awesome. You have to try the mussel shooters! WHOA. Don't fret when you have to ask for the check... they treat their customers like friends, they don't want to rush you. Pros: Excellent Sushi, Reasonable Price, Friendly Service more

Fresh Fish! 11/21/2004

I highly recommend Teru for the best sushi in town. The fish is always fresh and the service is great. It is nice to have a small family restaurant with such good food. I haven't gone anywhere else since trying Teru over a year ago! Try it, you will like it! Pros: FRESH SUSHI, SERVICE, LOCATION more
