Best Veggie Burger in Town 1/22/2011

My husband & I are regulars here. We love their veggie burger + pesto mayo. Fries are always delicious here, too. My husband has tried many of the other chicken/turkey sandwiches and wraps, but prefers the veggie.\r \r Good selection of beers. Great bloody Mary's!\r \r Casual setting with ample TVs. more

terrific Pub Food- great neighborhood bar 6/17/2009

one of my favorite G-Ho Hangouts. the food is amazing! the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. the beer selection is great too. we are here at least once every weekend! i highly recommend it! \r Pros: NACHOS! Cons: music is a little loud more

Convenient 5/7/2009

When Ten Stone opened the neighborhood was excited there was no looking back, no worries, a new beautiful, cozy, neighborhood bar was here and here to stay. The first year or two were great, the food and service was good, solid. Then it happened popularity overtook quality. Service and food started to slip and unfortunateley never came back. And that cool pool room...""reserved"" for groups during peak hours. Ten Stone we miss the old you. Pros: Beer, friends and outdoor seating Cons: Service, food, limited parking more

great beer list and good atmosphere 10/24/2008

we head over to tenstone to have a good glass of beer. As for their food, at times when it isn't too busy, the food has been great. Other times, not so much. But the place is chill the selection on tap is awesome and its a great place to go with your friends from work and throw some darts. more

BEER 12/5/2007

Go there for the beer. It is a great little local pub. The beer selection is large and frequently changing. I love beer, and if you love beer (Miller Lite drinkers stay home) and darts, go. The beer prices always leave me happy. Some pubs try to charge exorbitant amounts for local microbrews, but Ten Stone knows that this is heresy. Local should be affordable for the locals. They execute this well, and when paired with its food, the night is complete. Typical pub fare done right. Do not go for a gourmet meal. But if you like variety for a reasonable price and good beers to go along with it, this is the place. Pros: Beer menu is seasonal Cons: Dart board can get too crowded more

Decent beer selection with so-so food 10/2/2007

We've been here multiple times, each time thinking that maybe we came on a bad-food day. Not so. Everything we tried has been average or very disappointing, i.e. bland chicken sandwiches, Gordon's fish sticks are way better than their fish and chips - fish was overfried and dry (fries are ok), cold obvious-Gardenburger veggie burgers, etc. I haven't had their beef burgers, but they are the one thing that looks promising. Ordered Belgian beer from the tap and it came in an 8 oz. wine glass, which is very a-typical and cheap, considering you pay the same or less at Grace Tavern for similar beers and for a full serving. It's a shame that this places misses on a couple key things, since it's a nice inside and the outdoor seating is a plus. If you go here, I recommend sticking with regular food that's hard to screw up, like burgers and salads, and steering clear from Belgian beer on tap. more

Great variety of beer, relaxed atmosphere, friendly bartenders 3/8/2007

Four of us met up for beers and some food on a Tuesday night. I arrived first; both the bartenders as well as the other patrons were friendly and relaxed. This is a outstanding neighborhood bar. Pros: Friendly service, variety of beer, chill atmosphere Cons: Not close enough to my house (solution: move) more

Great hang 11/15/2006

It's like being at a great bar, with the option of great restaurant food. It's got the pub draw, with lots of beers on tap, pool table, darts, a large enough bar that you can usually find a stool to sit on and gab with the bartenders. And when you get hungry, you're not relegated to nachos and burgers. The fondue is worth a weekly visit. more

Cozy Place, great beer selection & great food 10/29/2006

I went to this bar for a hour hour event and was surprised at how much in the interior (especially ) had changed since the last time I was there. Back in the day, it was Cafe Limbo & then briefly a Copabanana. It is now a very cozy, inviting bar that I will definitely go back to. I noticed it also has outside seating as well. The food offered on the menu was a little outside the box which gives the bar a little of an eclectic feel. Not a negative as far as I'm concerned. Pros: Decor, service, beer selection more

Great Beer selection 10/16/2006

I am not a fan of beer but they have a GREAT selection and even something that I love! The food is also really good and the outdoor seating is great for people watching. \r \r Pros: Great food and Great beer Cons: the bartenders and waitresses are not the friendliest bunch more

Aloof Servers 10/1/2006

Food is generally really good, service usually below average. You could be one of two tables in there and it still takes a while for someone to come over- and to keep coming back. Friendliness is not something they specialize in, either.\r more

The place to call your own 12/2/2005

I found this pub one cold, winter day after visiting a friend in the city. What luck! I immediately felt refreshed and cozy. The wait staff was superbly attentive, the coffee was fresh and hot and the food was grand. I wasn't rushed along as I enjoyed the warm ambience and friendly conversations. The Sunday brunch is generous and relaxing. I've since introduced friends and family to Ten Stone. All have agreed - quality of food and drink and friendly atmosphere are worth the ride in from the burbs. Try the chicken chili, the banana bread pudding, or the quesadillas. What great treats, as well as values. The beer selection will satisfy anyone. I've convinced myself. I'm heading there now!! Pros: great pricing, great atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: parking more

Good value, good food, not-so-good service. 8/8/2005

Over an hour wait for lox & bagels on a Sunday morning?! I think I'll skip the brunch from now on, as it's gotten way too popular for its own good and the service staff can't seem to handle it. Still, any other time of the week, Ten Stone is a good choice for above-average bar food at reasonable prices. Great sandwiches and salads. Good mussels. Overall a welcome addition to the neighborhood, just showing some strains under the weight of its own popularity these days. Pros: atmosphere, good food, good portions Cons: service more

Everything but the service 8/1/2005

One of the few places I've been where the painfully subpar waitstaff attention is VASTLY outweighed by the ambiance, music, food/beer selection, price, incredible quality and overall enjoyability of the pub as a whole. It's like going to Monks... expect a wait, but expect it to be worth it. Especially if you order the brie/bleucheese/mushroom fondue, or the turkey/jalapeno reuben, or the steak/brie/onion/focaccia sandwich... And really, when you're in an atmosphere that rustic but urban, old school but trendy, with such fabulous adult alternative music, local and international beers, and food you could get addicted to, where's the harm in waiting a bit? Pros: Food/Beer, Atmosphere/Music, Price Cons: Promptness/service, first-come seating more

Great neighborhood bar 4/27/2005

Check it out. Much better than Highway 61 or Cloud 9 were. It's about time something cool got in that great location. more

User review by mtcc 4/17/2005

Good pub food, good selction of beer. Bartenders are friendly. Waitress service leaves a lot to be expected. The first time we were there, they forgot about our food, like completely forgot. They did nothing for us but a ""sorry"". The following times, was once for late lunch, which was fine because the bartender tended to us at our table. Another time, we waited a long time again, then we got our entrees before the appetizers. Otherrwise, they have a nice changing beer selction and daily dining specials. Pros: Beer Selection Cons: Poor Waitress service more

Very comfortable 1/2/2004

The best bar succeeds by doing nothing to excess: music cannot be too loud, dishes must not be too expensive, and it cannot be too crowded. Ten Stone succeeds in each of these ways, plus a few more: it has an excellent beer selection and its bar food is several notches above average, though the standard seems to be rising all the time in Philadelphia. This is probably the finest bar next to Standard Tap, and I actually prefer Ten stone because it is more comfortable (my stay at Standard Tap was drafty and food was over-salted). Pros: beer, food, comfort more

Great Spot 10/7/2003

It's rare to find ""pub food"" that you actually order for take-out, but the fare at Ten Stone is that good (relatively healthy, too!). The place is great -- it's extremely clean and not smoky for a bar, and it's one of the few bars in the neighborhood that has found the sweet spot between hole-in-the-wall (dump) and ""major production"" where drinks cost $10+ and guys wear ribbed shirts. We've been there on the weekends and haven't found it to be too noisy. Pros: ambience, great food more
