I would have to disagree with the previous post. I have been to this restaurant 3 times now and have been pleased every time with the food and service. The Pad Thai is very good as is the Panang curry. I also thought the Tom Yom soup was good. I have vacationed in Thailand twice and would have to say that the dishes are not as spicy as you will find in Bangkok or Chaing Mai but the flavors are pretty authentic. I plan to eat here again soon. more

Spicy Basil Leave Chicken is the best thing I've ever eaten 6/13/2007

Taste of Thai is one of the two ""must go to"" restuarants I take out of town friends when they visit Atlanta. I used to work around the Jimmy Carter area, and a friend turned me onto the place back in 1998. From 1999-2000, I ate there at least once a week, sometimes more. I have only had one dish - the Spicy Basil Leave Chicken. I'm sure the whole menu is great, but the Spicy Basil Leave Chicken is so phenomenal that I can't take a chance on ordering something else off the menu that might merely be good. I always order it with a fried egg on top. I don't know if this is on the menu, but that's the way my friend ordered it the first time I ate there, so that's the way I've always ordered it. I also ask for it spicy, but be warned, ordering it spicy means you will need a second caraffe of water on the table - it's that spicy. As for the guy who wrote the negative review about the rude girl at the counter, I would be willing to bet he's the one with the problem. The girls who work there are among the friendliest servers I've ever encountered. I moved to New Orleans from Atlanta around 2001, and didn't get back to Taste of Thai for several years. When I finally was able to return, the young lady who waited on me was one of the daughters who worked there back when I was a regular. She came right to the table and said, ""Spicy Basil Leave Chicken with Egg, right?"" Yup. She remembered what I order three years after the fact. If that's not great service, I don't know what is. If there's one dish you must eat before you die, The Spicy Basil Leave Chicken with an egg on top is it. Pros: Best Thai food in the city Cons: Atmosphere is a bit generic, but the food more than makes up for it. more

reply to hydrenalins review 10/15/2006

I was the cashier at Taste of Thai.. I am actually the daughter of the owner there... we've been there since 1989... business is still good... once in a while we will come across difficult customers...and we will try to do our best to correct the problem.. but this guy hydrenalin was being terribly rude from the beginning... he ordered something and decided he didn't want it and ordered something else... we changed it for him, he wanted me to fix his bill.. and i asked him if he'd like me to show him how i'm calculating it.. he said ""NO, you do it, you did it so you fix it"" I was not asking him to fix it... i was just trying to show him what i was doing and what i was charging him for.. i even gave him the calculator since he thought i was cheating but this guy did not want to cooperate.. he crossed his arms and said no once again and said the same thing... i even told him gratuity is added... after 5 minutes of just listening to his rudeness i had to let my mom handle it cuz theres only so much you can do when someone speaks to you with such utter disrespect... so i was in the back room crying to myself b/c this guy was being so mean and rude.. never have i been talked to like that.. i mean this guy was REALLY MEAN... and he said his friends don't come back... but i still see every one of them except him... and I'm glad! Really...all our customers are regulars and we know them well and know what they like to order everytime they come in... so please don't listen to this guy because HE GAVE HIMSELF an unpleasant time here. more

Below average food followed by even worse service. 9/11/2006

Best Lunch Value in Norcross! 2/22/2006

It started off small back in the days and it expanded but the food has not changed and the service is very friendly. Its definitely a family run business - they are all very nice! I usually do lunch and what a deal..a whole plate of basil fried chicken or drunken noodles fills you up. It accompanies the soup of the day either lemon grass or coconut chicken soup or you can opt out of soup and get a spring roll or both if you ask. My favorite is the coconut chicken, its probably best soup i have ever had, it just isn't coconut milk with chicken thrown in. Its got the right blend of tang and sweetness. I hae to stop myself from eating here everyday for lunch. The best Thai in ATL! Pros: Large portions, service Cons: Restroom, location more

Best Basil Chicken since 1995! 12/3/2005

I lived/worked just of off Jimmy Carter Blvd (the JCB) and our office would always get Taste of Thai's ""Basil Chicken"". All who have the opportunity to savor this dish, will be in for a wonderful treat. I've sinced moved away, and have eaten at many different Thai restaurants from one coast of the United States & Canada to the other. I can honestly say, that Taste of Thai's Basil Chicken is a unique dish in and of itself, and every time I visit Atlanta for business or pleasure, I always make sure I ""check in"" and get at least one Basil Chicken order to go. :) Also, order a glass of Thai Iced Tea. I've ordered Thai Iced Tea from Vancouver to Manhattan, and all major cities in between. Taste of Thai's Thai Iced Tea has no match, as far as I have been able to tell. :-) Peace. more

My favorite Thai 1/13/2003

I don't get outside the perimeter much anymore, but when I do, I always stop at Taste of Thai. I order 2 meals each time so I can enjoy it the next day. Lunch is the best time to go - very good pricing for a lot of food. Their Taste of Thai Squid is my favorite. Highly recommended! more
