Tasso's Greek Restaurant

I went here for a friends birthday. Our waiter came to our table to take our order, bring us our food, and then he never came back. He continued to wait on those that were really part of the greek family. The one time he did come back, he took my friends food before he was done eating. Speaking of food, the food we got was cold..not even cooked. Even after complaining about how badly we were treated here, still no compensation. more

We experianced great service and above all the food was outstanding!!!! The atmosphere was good.We will go again! more

We went on a saturday evening about 6pm and it was difficult to get the waitress to come by and get our drinks. We were about the only ones in the restraunt at that time. The food for the price was nothing spectacular, again, service staff very difficult to find and rude at that. It started to get a little busy about 7:30 and the staff was apparently in a hurry to move us out and started clearing and banging the plates. Very rude and we had not all finished our dinner since it took so long to get! They have a live band and a dance floor which they proudly mentioned when we made the reservations but apparently you are not allowed to dance as the staff was running into my granddaughter who was the only one having fun that evening. Band was wonderful!! But not enough to compensate for the lousy and rude service. Oh and because we were with a large group our waitress proudly added her 17% tip. Really, I would not recommend or go back. more

We had 9pm reservations. Not seated for about 45 minutes. Someone in our party said, we have reservations; the ""host"" said, everybody does, baby. Got our appetizers about 45 min later, then waited another half hour for salad. Our entrees were not served until 11:30p.m. The waiter never stopped by to explain the delay. Would have ordered more drinks, except he never came by for that either. We had to ask him to clear plates, beer bottles, etc. He walked out of our area several times empty-handied - an experienced person is always carrying something back to the kitchen. The whole fiasco cost $50 bucks per person, $110 with tax. I left a $15 dollar tip in the spirit of the holiday, but he was actually worth about a third of that. It was an awful way to start the new year and next year I'll stay home and eat frozen pizza before I spend my time and hard-earned money there. more

Very nice dim light atmosphere. They just might have the best gyro meat I have ever eaten before. The Shish Kabob was excellent, it was very tender and juicy. There was also a very funny musician that made our wait a little more barrible. The problem I had though was with the service. I went in a large party and since our gratuity was already added to our bill, we recieved the worst service. It took over 45 minutes to order and another 35-45 minutes to get the food, and this was on a Tuesday night. At one point all but one of the twelve or so people at my table had empty glasses and the waitress was nowhere to be found. It's a shame because the food .although a little overpriced, was so good but the service we recieved convinced me to not go back and not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. We just had our first night at Tassos and it was amazing. Great food and a fantastic atmosphere. The live music was really good and the musician doubled as a comedian, great family fun. The belly dancer was awesome. We went with our kids and they were made to feel very welcome. The kids had a blast and didn't want to leave. They danced and danced. We went out to Tasso's with some friends and I have a split opinion about this place. While we all agreed that we had a lot of fun- the atmosphere was great and the food was plain awesome- the service was really bad. Pros: The atmosphere and the food Cons: The service!!! more

Tasso is a great place for entertainment, but if you have been to Greece or know what real Greek food taste like then this place might not impress you. Service was slow and at times, we seem to be a burden to the server. Other than that, we really enjoyed the live entertainment. more

I had my doubts about taking 2 young girls (9 & 11) to a restaurant that boasted a belly dancer, but Tasso's has such a family atmosphere that it was like watching a girl friend on the dance floor. And the interaction with the patrons was so fun to watch. Our entire party agreed that we had a wonderful time, wonderful food, wonderful entertainment and the greatest service. Take the entire family and be ready for fun. Pros: Such a variety of entertainment - time sure flew. Cons: Only roses available. I would like to have had a carnation for my guy. more

My family has been going to Tasso's for over 25 years. The food is great and the portions are huge. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun. The belly dancer is fun for young children- who she dances with and often gives them a jewel for their forehead, or for 100 year old men and anyone inbetween. It is a classic in KC and a sure bet to get the whole group in a festive mood. The building is not stuffy or pretentious but top drawer patrons often can be seen. Arrived about 6:15 on Saturday evening. Was seated promptly but told that we'd need to vacate by 8:30 as a lot of reservations would be waiting. Thought this was a little strange as there were only 2 other tables occupied at the time. While the service was certainly acceptable by our waitress, when a issue arose that required Tasso's involvement, he chose not only to not address the issue but to berate his waitress for asking the question. I find this to be totally unacceptable behavior for someone in the service industry. As the host, I believe Tasso should try to make his guests feel welcome and to want to return. I found exactly the opposite and certainly would not recommend Tasso's to any of my friends nor do I plan to return myself. The sad part is, were it not for the behavior of the owner, I'd highly recommend the restaurant as the food was excellent. With so many other restaurants from which to choose, no one needs to patronize an establishment in which the owner shows such little regard for his customers. Our Bachelorette Party had more fun at Tasso's than anywhere else in KC, this weekend. Great entertainment!! The Staff is wonderful!! We'll definitely be back!! Thanks to everyone at Tasso's for an incredible evening!!! Pros: Great food, Entertaining, Ouzo!!! more

We went on a Saturday and were constantly entertained. The wait staff is fantastic, we never wanted for anything. The entertainment makes me want to go back often. Where else can you get smooched, throw plates, and see some amazing belly dancing. My hat is off to the entire staff of Tasso's! more

Besides the fact that the Greek food is absolutely fabulous, this cozy environment offers an exciting evening for those on a date or groups celebrating a special ocassion. Stop by on a Friday or Saturday for live music, dancing, and even a belly dancer! If you're lucky there might even be some plate throwing (an old Greek tradition for good luck)!
