Stephanie has been doing my cut and color for about 3 years now. I am CONSTANTLY getting compliments, even weeks after its been done. I have red hair and struggled to find a stylist that could make my color look good even after it started to fade. I have certainly found that stylist! I have this annoying half wavy-half straight but all frizzy hair. So I have to spend time blow drying it and then flat ironing it every time I wash it. Before my vacation recently Stephanie suggested that i get a Brazilian Blowout so that I could spend more time enjoying my trip, and less time working on my hair. It was the best decision i ever made!! It takes me hardly any time to blow dry, I no longer have to use the flat iron on my hair, and when we got caught in unexpected rain on my trip, I didn't have to worry about my hair getting all crazy frizzy!! I would highly recommend Stephanie for all services, and when you go, expect not only great quality but great conversation!! more

I've been going to Tangles to see my stylist ISABEL for a little over a year now. I love the way she listens to what I want-she also makes great suggestions and recommendations for face shape and color. I love the way she thins my hair out along with the layers- she does what is known as ""balayage"" for those natural looking highlights. It always looks so awesome!! \r \r Isabel is very easy to talk to and get along with and she has a positive attitude. At Tangles, the staff will make you feel right at home-everyone is so helpful and nice. My favorite part about getting my hair washed is the amazing head massage given by Isabel and/or the assistants. OMG! :)\r \r Although I live in Corona I drive to Pasadena to get my hair done because that's how much I love how my hair looks.\r Every time I leave the salon I feel refreshed and satisfied with my hair. \r \r I love Tangles! I've gone to Tangles to see Lyn Nakamura for eyelash extensions twice now and her work is absolutely flawless. The customer service at Tangles is always wonderful and Lyn especially makes the effort to make you feel welcomed and at home.\r \r My eyelashes lasted a good two weeks. I think I went back to Lyn on my third week to get a touch up and about a week later they still look great. (Note that the ""lifespan"" of the extensions depends mostly on how well you take care of them. Lyn gave good tips.)\r \r I also recently got an updo by Lyn for a wedding and she took what I wanted and incorporated it with what looked best on me. I found Tangles online and read lots of great things about them so i decided to set up an appt. for my girlfriend to get her hair done there. I wanted her to have fun and enjoy her day off ( and of course look good ) so i trusted Tangles to do that for her. She said the people that work there were very nice and her stylist was very sweet. My girlfriend got the works done and cant figure out which she likes the most because everything she got done looks wonderful. It wasnt until i got a thank you card in the mail from them that i felt compelled to write this review. Thank You Tangles. You and your stylist did a great job. Pros: great service more

Based on the great reviews on Citysearch, I made a haircut appointment with Isabelle (?) last February. I have been meaning to write a review for awhile now, but since I have never ever posted a review before, it has taken me some time...Anyway, I cannot even describe how horrible my haircut turned out. I am still recovering from it. My hair was well past my shoulders when I got it cut (trying to grow it out), I asked for long layers and bangs...Well, I've never had such ridiculous looking bangs, and the layers were her ""own style"" which I hope she never uses on anyone else. It is 7 months later and my hair is chin-length and my bangs are just down to my nose, since I've had to get 4 or 5 haircuts to try to get to a point where I'm not embarrassed to leave the house without a hat. Seriously, save yourself...there are plenty of other salons in Pasadena around the same price!! I am still in shock that I got this bad of a haircut in Old Town Pasadena. I wanted to give it negative stars. more

Despite being afraid to chance another bad haircut, I tried Tangles on Green St. in Pasadena for the first time. I got an appt quickly (and EARLY in the morning), and I was escorted to the shampoo chair at the exact time of my appt. The front-desk person was super friendly and helpful (esp with hair tips), and my stylist, Isabelle, listened to everything I asked for and delivered my request and MORE. She was not obnoxiously chatty but fun and easy to talk to; in one hour, she gave me an amazing haircut. I haven't felt this good about myself in years! I've never felt all that faithful to a stylist (again, previous disasters), but this woman, though young, really knows her stuff! I'll be sticking with her and with Tangles. As a first-time customer; I was very pleased with the warm welcome I received from Jeannie, who helped me with making a same-day appointment and greeted me when I arrived at the salon. These are genuinely nice people at Tangles who want you to be happy. I received great service from Carrie who gave me a cut and color. I am especially happy with the color she used, which is an organic, non-toxic hair color product that results in soft, pretty shades; and there was no burning or stinging from the product. That was vital to me as I have a sensitive scalp and have avoided allover color in the past for this reason. I am so pleased to have found Tangles Salon and will definitely return. more

I have been going to Tangles for over 16 years and I have had the same stylist for that many years, Lyn! She is wonderful. She knows how to make you feel comfortable and also helps you make decisions about the syle of cut and of color you should have. Never pushy. Always agreeable and always willing to work with hours and timeframe. I have lots of people always telling me that I spend to much for my cut and color etc.. but I tell them that it is all worth it to me and that I would never change because I don't trust anybody with my hair except for Lyn. My daughter got her first perm with Lyn when she was a youngster and now is 23 and also will not trust anybody with her hair. Although I dont go as often as I should, when I do I dont stress about anything because I know that I will love my hair when I am done. My husband doesn't care to much for me spending money in general, but when I tell him I am going to Tangles for my hair day, he smiles because he knows that he will just love my look. I have a hard time getting my haircut, I usually break out into hives. This was the first time that I felt like a stylist actually listened to what I was saying and used my body language to make sure that I was comfortable and pleased with my cut. The owner is fabulous and her apprentice that she was working with was great as well. I will definitely be going back for years to come!!!!! Highly recomended!\r Pros: all around great! I have a very busy schedule and have little time for myself (yikes).I run a production company and work with plenty of stylist that are very talented I must say. Why go somewhere else you ask? Well, My bosses wife got her hair done at Tangles and it looked fab!!!!! So I asked and she told and I booked an appt. with Danielle. A young thing she is which I must say made me quite nervous but she is VERY talented. Beautiful personality and very catering to my time and comfort while I was there. One thing I cant stand is a late sylist and she was right on time and I was out on time. Perfect! Well lets just say when I got back to work I think my hair made my stylist want to step up there game. Love love love it. Pros: Great location. I never have to worry that my cut or color will leave me feeling less than fabulous, and that is a great feeling to have! Years ago I had a haircut so bad that I cried...while still in the salon! \r The owner, Kathy cuts my hair, doles out the expert advise on color and even helped me with my flat-iron (it also curls/makes waves and was damn hard to master!) Easy, relaxed atmosphere, just adds to an already ""no worries"" experience. I love that I never feel anxiety about the outcome, because it is always amazing. Professional and perfect. We all have those times where you need to be and feel preety for whatever reason it may be. Maybe its because you might actually have the time or maybe there is a someone u want to look good for but for whatever reason it is, the feeling of confidence in how we look is important. I had pictures to take for the place i work at this week and those pictures were going to be in magazines, online, and in many of the flyers for our company. I could have put myself together but for this occasion it was important that I leave it to the pros. Many people i work with have always talked about Tangles so I scheduled a style and make- up appt. There were two girls , one who did my hair and the other who did my make up. They came in early in the morning for me because i had pictures early that day. I left looking great and even better in my photos!!!!!!!! I cant explain how relieved i am to finally have found a salon with a great staff who are very talented. I was looking for a stylist and got a referral to go to Tangles, and LOVED it. I live in Woodland Hills and work in Studio City and will continue to drive to Pasadena to get my hair done by Dana! The salon is run really well. There is a friendly and fun vibe and they are comitted to make sure their customers are comfortable. I get so many compliments on my hair and I tell them all where to go =) Thank you Dana and Tangles!!!! I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time--this is the first time I have been compelled to write a review. I recently moved to South Pasadena from out of state and have been looking for a good salon. I tried Tangles in December 2007. The stylist and receptionist were both very friendly. My cut was ok--nothing special. However, my highlights were horrible. I have light brown hair and she turned my hair bright orange. I had to pay serious money for a corrective color treatment because of my experience at this salon. I would not recomend this salon. Pros: Pleasant Staff Cons: Inexperienced more

My first experience at Tangles was at the end of April and I have since received many compliments on my hair. I had been going to another salon for the past two years, but became unsatisfied with the quality and prices. After hearing great things about Tangles, I made an appt and had my color done by Dana - she did a great job! The entire experience was fabulous - everyone was friendly and made sure that your comfort and satisfaction was their number one priority. I would recommend Tangles to anyone, and will be going back to have my color touched up this month! more

This salon is AMAZING! All the people that work there are super sweet and are very professional. There is a young, hip vibe to the salon and when you walk in you feel their welcoming and warm atmosphere. Although you leave feeling (And looking) like a rock star --you don't have to deal with any diva attitudes! The owner and her assistant are amazing!! But, in all honesty, everyone there adds their own unique flavor and the salon benefits from all of the talents that each individual brings. \r \r I LOOOOOVE ME SOME TANGLES, what else can I say??\r \r You know that saying...you get what you pay for? I came out to Los Angeles to go to school this spring semester and after having seen the same hairdresser for over 6 years was at a complete loss for what to do about getting my hair done. I frequently get color (currently going lighter with highlights, but have also been darker and everywhere in between) and need cuts often to maintain split ends on my fine hair. So naturally there was no waiting until I went home. My roommate lives in Pasadena and recommended a couple salons. Tangles was where I ended up and I could not be happier about that! I have been twice and each time Carrie has done my hair and done an amazing job. I naturally have medium to dark brown hair and after coming to her with hair already highlighted she picked up from where my previous hairdresser had left off and perfected my highlights even better than I could have imagined! After two sets of highlights my hair is more of a golden brown to dark blonde and I absolutely love how natural it looks. Her careful application and attention to what I asked for was amazing. I hate to say it for the sake of my hairdresser at home, but I'm happier with my hair now than ever! The cut is amazing as well! I have a spunky kind of style and like the chunky layers, side swept bangs, layers around the face sort of deal and Carrie paid attention to every last bit of hair making sure the cut was perfect! She really listened and responded to what I asked for. It's not particularly inexpensive, but if you're like me and are willing to pay a little more for a fabulous job as opposed to mediocre, don't hesitate! It's absolutely worth it. this is my second time that i go to tangles and leave with a smile! my hair stylist isabel never lets me down, she cares more about my hair than i do. i love that atmosphere in the salon the people are great and now i have a salon and a hair stylist i can depend on. more

Im not from California but visit Pasadena often for work. Where im from we use CitySearch all the time to find places and read the reviews. I went to Tangles to get my hair colored and it turned out beautiful. It felt great afterwards and it looked great for months. The girl i saw was a cute little red head with a beaming personality. She recomended shampoo and product for me to use to help retain my color and they work like a charm. Last time i was here i went to a salon i found on CitySearch and it turned out to be awful. The color was bad and the cut was uneven. So read your reviews!!!! more
