Love the Chicken Tika Massala and Kabobs here. more

Excellent Indian 3/9/2011

I like checking out the Indian restaurants with my girlfriends in the U district. Tandoor has been very good and consistent. It's a tiny place so all of us hotties fill it up nicely! Check it and us out. more

Good Drinks 2/4/2011

Strong drinks and nice staff. I live in Wa so I was happy to find a great Indian rest. down the street. Food was excellent very spicy. more

good enough 7/12/2010

Only ate here once with a friend for dinner. I order some lamb dish and it is OK, a bit watery in my opinion. Forgot what it is called. My friend had butter chicken which I tried and man, that was good. We both had mango lassi which is always my favorite and it was very good. So no complains. Would try it again. Pros: close on the border of U-dist., decent food Cons: not sure. more

Indian food 12/8/2008

Classic Indian food conveniently lcoated in the heart of the University District on "The Ave". Offers a variety of Indian dishes. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. more

What an awful place to go 11/5/2008

They pretended to serve us chicken tikka masala... and either it was the worst version I have ever tasted or they were too lazy and decided to serve us the chicken scraps from the floor. Pros: makes every other indian restaurant look amazing Cons: it's just all around awful more

Pretty good, fairly cheap, but portions are small. Service is OK. Pretty standard Ave. Indian food. more

Editorial review from GrubHub 5/20/2008

The food was quite good but the delivery guy didn't bring any change even though I had indicated I was paying with cash and I ended up having to tip over 5 dollars on a 15 dollar bill because he couldn't break a 20. more

Great Indian food! 2/4/2008

Excellent food and friendly service! We enjoyed their lunch buffet and happily stuffed ourselves on all the fantastic options they had. Especially good were the butter chicken, the rice pudding, the naan and a fried chicken dish the name of which I've forgotten. The chai was delicious and not too sweet, and they offered me multiple refills, too. They were very friendly and efficient, and the price is excellent. Loved it! Pros: food, service Cons: parking is always a drag in the U district more

Amazing Food and Service 4/1/2007

Tandoor is a little off the main part of the ave, but the trip up there was well worth it. We had a coupon and presented it right away so the staff was nice & clear, because we weren't paying attention and didn't see it was supposed to be for delivery only. We ordered the vegetable pakora, channa masala, Veggie Vindaloo, mango juice, and garlic naan (the meal came with rice). The food was brought out in good time and everything was TERRIFIC. The spices were nicely balanced (the vindaloo was wonderfully tangy) and the Naan was to die for. The rice portions were beyond generous, and the channa masala was as good as any we'd tasted in the Pacific Northwest. Seriously. Our waitress (very cute!) couldn't have been sweeter. OVERALL, THIS MEAL WAS EXCELLENT AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!! THANK YOU TANDOOR! Pros: service, food, food, food Cons: could use even more vegan options more

small portions, burnt nan, doesn't honor promotions, too pricey even with coupon! 3/21/2007

The coupon stated: Pros: butter chicken Cons: portion sizes, price more

Good indian food 8/6/2006

Nice place. Worth a visit. Good indian food made with the right amount of spices (which is so important in indian delicacies!). A family owns this and has made it so successful. The food taste makes me go again and again! PROS: Good tasty food, well maintained CONS: None more

A bit disappointing 7/18/2006

I ate here once or twice a few years ago, and again just recently. I don't think I will eat here again, because the food just wasn't that great. The chutneys didn't seem fresh, the samosas were just ok, and the entrees were too salty! The best part of the meal was the na'an. Even the chai tea lacked flavor, basically it just tasted like black tea with milk. Maybe they deserve another chance, but why bother with so many other options? Cons: flavor more

Great food at good prices! 7/22/2005

My boyfriend introduced me to the Tandoor over two years ago. We've been going on a regular basis ever since. The menu is varied and the food is always excellent. Lots of flavor in interesting combinations. Nice selection of beers and homemade desserts. Run by a local family, the service has been nothing short of excellent. They recognize us when we arrive and always try to give us a table by the window. I never thought I would enjoy being like "Norm" on the TV show Cheers. I love that they know us and always take a little extra time to chat. They had a new addition to their family recently. The last time we were there they asked us if we wanted to go in the back and see their new daughter. Proud Grandpa was taking care of her. It made us feel special and even better about our dining choice. PROS: Varied menu, fantastic food, great service and family owned & operated CONS: Can't think of any! more

Tasty but small entrees; good Nan and desserts 3/8/2005

This spot has a bright, cozy feel, cute yellow walls, and vibrant, somewhat cartoon-ish tapestries. We were seated immediately at 8pm on a Friday night. The wait-staff was generally quite attentive with refills, etc (but dont expect much ice in your water). Chicken Tikka Masala was good with its smooth, complex flavor, while the Chicken Jafrazie was just okay; both were small portions and I wish they offered a white meat option. The Onion Kulcha was good, crisp at the edges, soft in the center (although a bit oily to me). The Potato Nan was even better: the excellent blend of spiced potato inside made it a surprising treat. I also had a great mango lassi: rich, tangy, and not overbearingly sweet. We paid $35 for two, but had enough leftover for a third person. Average value overall (about $15/person, unless you stick to the cheaper Nan & desserts). Pros: Parking in nearby lot, Service, Quality Cons: Small portions more

The Best Indian Food I've had!!! 2/2/2005

I have to say that this is the best Indian restaurant in Seattle. The food is excellent and the restaurant is immaculate. The servers are pleasant and attentive, while not being too overbearing. You can have both an intimate meal and delicious food. I come here just for the butter chicken... it's sooooo good!!! Pros: Delicious food more

One of the best daily buffets 8/15/2003

Tandoor has easily one of the best daily lunch buffets in the city; the butter chicken is not to be missed. Unlike other buffets, they make your naan fresh to order when you arrive. Parking is very difficult, but worth the effort. The palak paneer is perfect and wide array of salads makes a nice addition. The restaurant looks tiny, but there's a large room in the back for big groups. Pros: Buffet, Butter Chicken, Fresh naan Cons: Parking more

Just like mom used to make. 2/9/2003

The food here is fantastic. Especailly the Chicken Vinbdalu (sp) and Eggplant Bharta. Try all the different breads as well. Tandoor is owned and run by a family and they treat their customers like their children. Even my friend from India said it was just like his mom used to make. Note, if you like spice, make a point to emphasize HOT! more

Mmmmm.....yummy! 11/20/2002

This place is absolutely excellent - you owe it to yourself to try the pompadon w/ the spicy lime pickle - the coconut shrimp entree is EXCELLENT - the rice is fluffy and light - just right.....and my favorite is the rice pudding dessert - and they DELIVER!!!! (not to mention send out coupons!) more
