Excellent Sushi! 4/30/2012

Excellent sushi. Wonderful environment. Fabulous service. Also, very, very expensive. Its a great place for a ""once and a while"" splurge, but there are other places that are just as good for less cash. more

Best Sushi in The West 5/4/2011

I don't even know where to start with Takashi, it is hands-down the best. Best atmosphere, best fresh fish (they get fresh shipments daily, a lot of local restaurants only get shipments twice a week), best waitstaff, aaahhhh. You won't regret it. Glass noodle salad is fantastic, the vegan stir fry is delightful even if you are a meat-eater, all the rolls are incredible. Plan to make a night out of it- you'll likely have to pay for parking and then wait 30 minutes +, but you can go next door to Kristauf's and have a martini while you're waiting. With the hip, elegant atmosphere you'd expect prices to be higher but they are right on par with all the other sushi restaurants around. I always take friends here when they are visiting from out of town. Nowhere else even compares to Takashi. more

Best Sushi in Utah 1/4/2011

This is my favorite place for sushi in Utah. The Fish (as well as everything else) has always been really fresh and great tasting! It would be a waste of your time and money to go anywhere else. Any other places I have been to have been more expensive and poor quality. I have had bad service may 2 times in all the times I have been there and is was by the same person. We started requesting to set in their section and now they no longer work there. So, now in my opinion the place is perfect. It it totally worth the wait for a table. Just go next door to Kristoph's and have a martinin while you wait. The hostess will come get you when you table is ready if you let her know. more

Sushi with great vibe! 8/18/2010

Takashi is worth trying, and afterwards you'd love it! I went with my brother and we couldn't get over how great it tasted and how fast they served things. The place is great! It also has great prices its not over priced like most sushi places. I recommend going there for sure! more

My Idea of Heaven 10/28/2009

When I'm looking to celebrate something special or if I just want to treat myself, this is the place I go. The sushi is always fresh and the chef does some innovative things with sauces and flavor combos. Pros: This is the best sushi I've ever had. Cons: None. more

Worth the hype 6/20/2009

While the Sushi is expensive and you have to wait to get a table (during normal business hours), Takashi is worth it. It is the best Sushi in SLC and has a good wine list to boot. Pros: best Sushi in town Cons: very high prices, wait to get seated more

Great food really bad service. 5/25/2009

I went with my mom for her birthday, everyone else at our table had their food, but the birthday girl was without. Upon asking the server about her food they said it was coming. 25 minutes later she still had no food and we where all ready to finish up and pay. The server acted like it was our problem that the sushi was taking ages. They did not offer to pick up her meal or do anything for u.s. Eventually we got her food to go and left. The food was great and really fresh. The service was stale. For what we paid for the meal I expected much more. I will likely not be back. Pros: Very fresh fish. Cons: The service. more

For high quality, fresh Sushi - this is the place in SLC 5/21/2008

You may not find a parking space close by, but if you are serious about eating fresh, high-quality Sushi that will guarantee to please, this is the place. I recommend the Ceviche roll as well as the Easy Rider. I've only tried about seven menu items but everything I've eaten at Takashi is fantasitc. Pros: Fresh and delicious sushi Cons: Parking and crowds more

Great food, awful service. 5/3/2008

Earlier this week, I went in for dinner right when they opened. I wanted to get there early to avoid a crazy crowd. Food was great- of what I recieved, that is. Server forgot half of the order and had an AWFUL attitude the entire time. I, too, am a waitress. It's not what I would call a dream job, but I am smart enough not to approach a table with the attitude that I hate my job, hate my life, and don't give a flying f about the customers... this girl, not so smart. It wasn't busy, so she can't ride on that excuse. And my friend and I never once inquired as to why our sushi was taking an hour and a half, giving the girl the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was new, maybe they were working on the world's biggest to-go order, and when the food finally arrived, she slammed it on the table as though we were a pain in her, well, you know. Never checked back to see how it was, never asked if we would like to order anything else. Generally, I leave a 30% tip for great service, 20% for not-so-great... this girl wins the award for my first EVER 8% tip, which was still about 7.5% too much. The sushi was fantastic, but sadly, I will not be returning. Service is everything, and Takashi seriously lacks it. Get it together and put a smile on your face, even if you are faking it. And as a side note, I saw a gentlemen who was also sitting in this girl's section approach the sushi bar, ask if the platter which had been sitting there for God knows how long was his, and take it himself to his table. Not acceptable. Since I only got half of my order and was still starving, I went to Ichiban. Had a wonderful server, wonderful sashimi, and I was even lucky enough for this server to refill my water and offer another beer when I had finished mine! What a concept... more

Wonderful! 4/6/2008

I'm usually not the most adventurous sushi eater but the Takashi kitchen puts their incredibly inventive rolls together in such a way that no matter what you order and no matter how outlandish the combinations seem, it's all delicious. My only complaint it that it's such a scene it's hard to get a table, and so noisy you can't converse after you get one. But there's a good reason people put up with that -- the sushi. Pros: The sushi is fantastic Cons: Competition for tables more
