Earlier this week, I went in for dinner right when they opened. I wanted to get there early to avoid a crazy crowd. Food was great- of what I recieved, that is. Server forgot half of the order and had an AWFUL attitude the entire time. I, too, am a waitress. It's not what I would call a dream job, but I am smart enough not to approach a table with the attitude that I hate my job, hate my life, and don't give a flying f about the customers... this girl, not so smart. It wasn't busy, so she can't ride on that excuse. And my friend and I never once inquired as to why our sushi was taking an hour and a half, giving the girl the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was new, maybe they were working on the world's biggest to-go order, and when the food finally arrived, she slammed it on the table as though we were a pain in her, well, you know. Never checked back to see how it was, never asked if we would like to order anything else. Generally, I leave a 30% tip for great service, 20% for not-so-great... this girl wins the award for my first EVER 8% tip, which was still about 7.5% too much. The sushi was fantastic, but sadly, I will not be returning. Service is everything, and Takashi seriously lacks it. Get it together and put a smile on your face, even if you are faking it. And as a side note, I saw a gentlemen who was also sitting in this girl's section approach the sushi bar, ask if the platter which had been sitting there for God knows how long was his, and take it himself to his table. Not acceptable. Since I only got half of my order and was still starving, I went to Ichiban. Had a wonderful server, wonderful sashimi, and I was even lucky enough for this server to refill my water and offer another beer when I had finished mine! What a concept...
