hardware at your convenience 5/17/2006

The service here seems to be a bit sporadic, with ladies on the first floor chasing me around to offer help and guys in the basement being nonexistent as soon as I need something. Nonetheless, the selection here is good, ranging from standard hardware items to kitchen, household, and season accoutrements, and if you've got the time to chase down the help you need, the convenient location makes it the perfect place to stop for your household needs. more

Overpriced but Convenient 5/13/2006

If you go downstairs at Tags, you can find the basics you need from a hardware store: nails, screws, tools, cleaning supplies, pest management, gardening tools. It's upstairs you've got to be careful, because everything there is pretty marked up. Having said that, it's convenient to be able to get bathroom fixtures or kitchen utensils in a shopping center. However, when we're also so close to Target, I'd rather leave Tags with my potted plant needs and head to Target for my crockpot. Students, show your ID and get a 10% discount! more

Convenient 5/3/2006

Though this isn't the jumbo type of hardware store that has everything, they are a nice and basic shop that can satisfy basic needs. The staff upstairs is a mixed bag and of helpful and friendly to mad to be there and anxious to get you out of there. The staff downstairs in the hardware area can be very helpful (if you can find one of them). Their prices on most items are pretty comparable to other shops. Upstairs they do carry a lot of home decorative items, kitchen things, and a random assortment of different things. I've never tried to get paint there, so I'm not sure what brands they carry or how that service is. They've been friendly for cutting keys for me. It's much more fun to browse around than most other shops of this type. more

great place to pick up something quick 3/22/2006

I shop at Tags mostly for one or two items that I have to have quickly - for whatever reason. If I don't want to drive out to the nearest Home Depot - Tags is where I go. Their prices are definitely higher than the big-box stores, especially for non hardware stuff. But, their items and service make it a great neighborhood indie type store. If you sign up for their mailing list, they often send out great coupons and sales flyers! more

mixed staff 9/12/2005

This family-owned hardware store has a mixed bag of employees. While some employees are very knowledgeable about their products or good at answering questions, some seem to be apathetic. The stores carries alot of household things, not just hardware. They have kitchen appliances and other random household items. The store is in a good location right of the subway. If you drive, it can be difficult to find parking on weekend afternoons and after work. more

Good selection and service, but high prices. 9/2/2005

Tags has a very good selection of housewares and hardware. There are tons of shower curtains, storage bins, kitchen gadgets, etc but the prices are quite high -- I've seen the same exact items elsewhere for half the price. I do appreciate their staff in hardware though -- very patient and helpful. One word of advice though: DO NOT use their key copying service -- twice the keys I had made didn't work. more
