Trouble Getting a Table if Your a Lone Female Diner 8/30/2011

If you are a female, and dining alone at night, the restaurant manager will try to seat you back in the hinterlands in the bar instead of at a table. Looking around, you'll see all kinds of men dining alone at tables. It makes you wonder......... more

Zucchini fries 5/23/2011

I learned about Table 219 from their Groupon promotion which I finally used this past weekend. It is a fun little place on Broadway. The food and service were great. They have a selection of different sized plates which you can get for yourself or share with others. My wild boar enchiladas were totally amazing, and the bread salad was great too. There were quite a few things on the menu I would have tried as well, but alas I will save them for another time. The zucchini fries are awesome, btw more

WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG TO FIND THIS SPOT? 8/11/2010

A month ago my husband and I went on a walking date (we live on Capitol Hill) and strolled into Table 219 for the first time. We had such a GREAT meal and I was so pleasantly surprised by their menu. So many places these days feel like they have the exact same thing. The menu had creative offerings and everything we had was so tasty. Also really enjoyed Gary our host for the evening. Went back again this week for brunch with a friend and had an equally fantastic time. I'm hooked now. So great to find a new place in our neighborhood. Love it. more

219 was fantastic 6/6/2010

This was an amazing night with my wife. Truffle oil popcorn was so good. When I remarked on this to the server they brought us out another serving. I'm all about that. Deviled eggs were a surprise in there deliciousness but the duck confit nachos were just freakin' great. Round that out with a healthy pour into the wine glass and some of the better veal this world has to offer and we really had a great date night. We're taking friends back there. You should go. Pros: Mad delicious truffle oil popcorn more

What's not to Love? 11/22/2009

We went last night for my 42nd bday dinner before a night on the town and the staff was fantastic, handling our party of (get this) 16 without a sweat. Pros: food is divine, great specials, staff is great Cons: parking more

Great neighborhood spot 10/4/2009

Menu is interesting and the food well-prepared at this Broadway spot. Great people-watching from the tables by the windows, or the outdoor tables when the weather holds. The place closes pretty early though, making it a poor option for after-movie dining. Pros: Interesting menu Cons: Closes early more

Disappointed... 8/24/2009

My husband and I recently decided to try out a new breakfast spot for our anniversary. We arrived at Table 219 to have brunch last Saturday. We were seated fairly quickly by a grumpy waitress who didn?t say more than a couple of words to us. To say she was ?unpleasant? would be an understatement. We both ordered off the menu and sat on the outdoor patio. Our food arrived and we couldn?t have been more disappointed. My husband ordered a fried egg, bacon and French Toast. It seemed like a great deal for all the food you get. The egg was tiny with two small pieces of burnt bacon with what looked like fried sourdough bread (French toast). It was not appealing. I ordered the Greek Omelet which sounded great from the description in the menu. It consisted of underdone / slimy eggs mixed with feta cheese. The ?Greek? veggies was a tomato sauce with a few Kalamata olives and capers thrown in. It was cold and tasted like eggs drenched in cold salsa. It was disgusting. I would never go there again. Not sure where all the good ratings are coming from. Pros: No Wait, Outdoor & Indoor Seating Cons: Service, Food Quality, and Portion Size more

Example: great place for good bread 4/6/2009

4 of us went on Sunday for brunch. I was impressed by the choices on the menu, very creative and the combination of ingredients sound excellent (e.g. charizo + monchego or brie/apple/avocado omelets) The execution, however, wasn't as great as expected. We all thought our omelets were a bit too blend/dry, and the egg Benedict was just so-so. the yam fries were excellent, but everything else we ordered were just all right, 3-4 stars decent to good, but not 5-star ""wow"". would go back, but wouldn't consider in the same league as Cafe Besalu or 611 Supreme Pros: creative ideas, pleasant atomosphere, nice waiting staff Cons: food isn't as great as they sound/look more

very tasty food! smallish portions 1/18/2009

2 of us went for brunch on a saturday at noon, no wait which was great. service was attentive and we loitered for 2 hours after we finished without any type of complaint from the staff. Pros: great food Cons: smallish portions more

Worst Service I've ever seen 11/9/2008

We had read good reviews of this restaurant for Sunday brunch, so we were excited to give it a try. After we were seated, a server brought us water. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Not a single employee would make eye contact with us as we sat there and sat there, and sat there. As we sat there for almost 15 minutes without even getting menus, other people were seated, brought drinks, and ordered. In such a small place like this, it was just amazing - it was like we weren't there. Finally we just gave up and left. I don't support restaurants that have no respect for their customers. Cons: Horrible service more

The BEST bacon and French toast you'll ever eat... EVER!!! 9/21/2008

We can't afford to eat out much, but when we feel like splurging, we share the French toast with a side of bacon which is positively amazing! The bacon is thick-cut, not too smokey or fatty and cooked just right... not whimpy and not too crispy. The French toast is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, plus the toppings are always fresh. Our favorite is the vanilla poached pears and the mixed berries are also great, but nothing good can come from the lemony bananas so just skip those. The service is fast and friendly and we always feel right at home, but no dishes to clean up! So, even if you're not a meat eater, the menu is small but varied enough to accommodate even the pickiest eater, and the price is right on! Just GO! more

A reason to get up early after a late night on the Hill.... 8/22/2008

Cozy, fun brunch with wait staff that treats you like an old friend. Very welcoming atmosphere that's warm, friendly, and inviting. Instead of being treated like ""you're lucky to be here"" you actually feel like everyone is ""happy to see you"". Beyond the fab service, the food is AMAZING - orignal dishes with the best quality ingredients. I'm still dreaming about my egg and bacon sandwich with arugala....mmmmmm. Pros: Service, Menu, Ingredients, Ambience, Design more

Best brunch ever! 8/21/2008

We go here almost every weekend. The service is great and the food is delicious! Big bonus- they have breakfast and lunch available on their weekend brunch menu. The bread salad is amazing, as well as the chicken skewers and lamb burger w/ sweet potato fries. The french toast was some of the best I have had. They use high quality ingredients in everything they make and it truly makes a difference. This place is a gem on Broadway, I won't go anywhere else! more

Awesome breakfast! 3/9/2008

My wife and read about El Greco in Seattle Magazine and we've been making a point to try all the top-rated breakfast spots. I ordered the garlic sausage frittata and my wife ordered the french toast of the day (a specialty at El Greco). My frittata was made with egg whites (because I am allergic to egg yolks) and I was happy that I didn't have to order it with Egg Beaters. My fritatta, while not traditional, was great. It was coated in a light cheese (can't remember the type but it wasn't the typical Jack or Cheddar) and it had slices of this garlic-chicken sausage that is probably a local product (maybe Isernio's?). The toast was made from an Italian rustic bread (I think) and it too was awesome. Pros: food, creativity, service Cons: parking more

Fabulous Brunch! 11/29/2007

It's tradition for my coworkers and I to come up to El Greco on Fridays when they are open early for brunch (They are also open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday). I look forward to this day all week. The brunch here is amazing! My favorites are the el greco benedict, a unique spin on the traditional benedict, and the avocado & pepper jack omelette. You can always expect a new & delicious dish, as Stacey (one of the owners) promotes new specials weekly. And don't forget to come here for dinners Tuesday night for the 1/2 price bottles of wine! more

Great find! 2/12/2007

Went to El Greco for dinner Saturday because of a coupon in the Entertainment Book of all things. GREAT MEAL. We will definitely be back. The server was very nice, the menu was resonably priced, and the food was great. Fantastic mezze plate, wonderful lamb, great bottle of wine. A lovely place too (frankly surprised something that nice exists on that block of cap hill). more

Great Breakfast choices. Food was outstanding. Very reasonable prices 7/17/2006

Quality of the food was outstanding. Menu prices of the food choices was very reasonable or a (one $) on this sites rating scale. Definately will be back. Service was slightly better than average. The apparent popularity of the resturant kept the waiters very busy. Establishment was busy but we were seated fairly quickly. 16 year olds to 60 seemed to be the customers age range and that was sort nice not having very young children in the resturant. This made for a quiet enjoyable meal for adults. Single drawback to the business was parking availablity in the local area. Pros: Food, Food pricing, quiet enjoyable adult atmosphere Cons: Parking more

YES YES YES 2/5/2006

Editorial
  • The Scene
Local art adorns the aqua-blue walls, setting the informal Mediterranean mood somewhere between cafe and bistro. Service is very friendly, but servers can be a bit overwhelmed...
