Sushi Ray Japanese Restaurant

I have been eating here for years and tonight was the most disappointing experience. They are normally very consistent, as far as there sushi is concerned. Beware if it's not up to par they won't take it off your receipt and your forced to pay for an awful meal that you didn't even touch. They do however offer to make you another roll, at that point you are so turned off that you don't even want it. more

Although the food was good, I was very dissapointed by the fact that we were asked to leave. We were told to go outside and talk that they needed the table. The restaurant had plenty of empty tables at the time and there was nobody waiting to be seated. We had barely paid the bill at the time of being asked to leave. more

I just had valentines dinner here and I was not the best. Got the smallest portion of rice, no silver wear, and the waiters were hard to understand and very confusing. I probably Never return. But it was worth the try. more

12 year customer. Will never return. Hibachi chef and waiters are unable to communicate with each other. I was served my hibachi meal after the other group at the table was finished, given a check and walked out and the others in my party finished their meals. Ray refused to buy me a drink for the inconvenience abd mistakes. Just bad business. more

OK, I'm picky and I've eaten at all of them! This place is consistently excellent. The sushi is top quality, the place is spotless, and the service is friendly and helpful. People love their favorite place and try telling me the Japanese place they eat is better...but I try them and it never is. Try all the S rolls - especially the triple S!! They have no rice, are rolled on soy paper and have an outstanding sweet and salty sauce. I love the house ginger salad too. My one complaint is that the salad dressing can be a bit inconsistent - thick on some days, and more watery on others, but it is still very good. One of the reasons I keep going back is this place is consistently neat and clean with all the tables wiped down and a friendly greeting at the door. The service people are nicely and neatly dressed and have a smile for all their customers - like they actually appreciate us being there. Imagine that in this day and age!! I love the tuna tower too - spicy tuna served with crispy chips. Oh yeah, and Starbucks is right next door so I get my coffee after lunch! :-) big bonus! more

Just had lunch (5/17) here and oh my goodness the sushi was super fresh. I sat at the sushi bar (which has a lovely atmosphere) and had chiraso prepared by Jimmy. Not only was the presentation fun to watch and beautiful at the end but also really good. It's hard to find sustainable FRESH sushi. But they've got it! more

The food here is alright but the service isn't so hot. I wouldn't sit to eat but carry out is good.! more

WOW. I had my eye on this place for quite some time. My boyfriend and I ended up settling to eat here the other night due to the long wait everywhere else and it was definitely the most lousy, tasteless Japanese food I have ever had in my life. Not to mention it was a rip off. The sodas come out in not even close to 8 oz glass bottles, they didn't even fill up the whole glass when emptied, and if you want another one you get charged. There was no ice in the glass either. Talk about penny pinching and lukewarm soda. I had the chicken with mixed vegetables and it came out with the cheapest medley of wilted vegetables I've ever seen. Wilted soggy spinach, cabbage/bok choy, 4 whole mushrooms total on my plate, and the chicken was in chunks, not seasoned at all and tasted extremely bland, old, rubbery, and gamey. I threw the leftovers out immediately when I got home. I was completely beyond turned OFF and grossed out. Thank God I didn't have to pay for this meal, I will never be back. And the service was abrupt and seemed rushed and nerve-wracking. Now I know exactly why this place only had a 20 minute wait on a Saturday evening when every other restaurant was over an hour wait. I had the worst restaurant experience of my entire life at this g-dforsaken hell hole. I had booked a party of 12 weeks in advance over the xmas holiday; my son in law was coming home from out of town school and was pining for sushi. I booked the hibachi tables and explained to the person who took the reservation that not eveyone in the party liked sushi and would order hibachi for everyone. When I arrived, there was an hour wait. After the hour, they tried to seat us at a table on the floor. We objected and they said that ther ewould be a short wait for another table. We waited another hour. That is 2 hours waiting. Then we were told that we could not have sushi at a hibachi table. They were EXTREMELY RUDE, ESPECIALLY THE MANAGER AND HIS TWO ASIAN FEMALE COHORTS, and ruined our family dinner- we left without eating. I have never been so insulted and angry at any establishment in my entire life. AVOID these rude jerks at all costs. Blue Fin has better sushi anyway and they more

I enjoy Sushi Ray, but the menu has limited combinations. Nice rolls. Never had a bad piece of Sushi here. more

Great place to bring a date. The tepanyaki set-up (hibatchi tables) provide entertainment and conversation. The décor has nice stone details and interesting lighting. Sushi is consistently fresh. -Also check out the owner's car--ka-ching! more

They have good food but the prices are outrageous. I guess they can pull it off due to the location and the type of customers that the area pulls. If you want to spend a lot of money then this is the place to go. more

Sushi Ray serves the americanized version of sushi. We ordered some sake which was great, edamame and tuna jalapeno as appetizers. The tuna jalapeno was like a ceviche with a small slice of jalapeno that made is citrusy and spicy, a great combination. The spider roll and spicy tuna roll were good but were huge portions that I could not finish. Each came with ten slices that was way too much food. The waitress was very friendly and provided us great service, one of the best I have experienced. Overall, the restaurant is expensive, the food is average but the service is great. more

Sushi Ray has some of the best sushi in town! They are a bit on the high end in pricing, but the atmosphere, food and service are all great! You can even call there or walk in, order and pick up to take with you. The fish is fresh and the employees always are helpful in explaining what something is if you have a question. more
