I use to live on Oahu back in the late 70's thru the early 80's.This shop was there then & still there now. What I found nice is that the ambiance is the same now as then. I went back in 2001, 2003, & just last week in 2008. The people are different but the same surfer laid back easy going "come on in and hang out for a while" attitude was still there. My girlfriend and I went to this place and loved it. We went on a few dives, one of which was a wreck dive and it was amazing and perfectly organized, we both felt safe and well taken care of the whole time.\r \r The dive store is fully stocked and although we weren't planning to buy the amount of things that we did, there were so many good deals that we got a little too carried away. \r \r The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the whole shop provides for a very chilled out and relaxed atmosphere, you almost feel like you could hang out there, we certainly spent a little time there after each dive.\r \r Highly recommended to any divers who want to have a near as perfect diving experience as possible. I have been to many dive centers throughout the world and this one seems like the one that best meets my strict criteria of being relaxed and professional. more

Surf & Sea has become a well established one stop shop for any thing ocean adventure on the North Shore in Haleiwa Town. The down side is that the store has become so overly dependant on tourism, that prices are amazingly steep.\r \r Diving for instance, every other major dive shop on island charges $3 to $4 a tank; with dive club rentals at $10 for unlimited air every month. Surf & Sea however, charges about $8.50 a tank. The mark up's dont end there. Reef brand sandles normaly pricing at arround $30.00 at almost any other store, is priced at $49.99 a pair.\r \r The staff in the store is realy only knowlageable about swisuits and surfboards. When picking up a set of tanks at the store (out of convenience and poor planning), I soon discovered that they have untrained and uncertified staff handeling dive equipment. This shop is an excellent place to buy anything related to ocean sports. They have a lot of items that are on clearance at any given time so you may find it an excellent deal. They specialize in scuba repair and selling surf boards. more
