I've been a patient of Summit Medical since 1999. For the record, I'm a well-educated biologist specializing in immunology. Unfortunately, I've been plagued with multiple significant health problems since 1987. As such, I have, by necessity, learned to hold high standards for my medical care. The fact I've stayed with Summit this long says enough, but I'd like to give you more specifics.
I too, started of with Dr. Joshi, and am now usually seen by Todd Knauf, PA.c., who's always been both competent and compassionate. Occasionally I've been seen by others in that practice including Dr. Tesstori. I found him to be both interested in my medical problems and on top of the appropriate medical protocols and procedures for my care and comfort. He certainly was never rude in my presence. Perhaps some patients' skins are too thin, or they just don't understand biology or medicine well enough. There is nothing worse than a patient who relies on blogs and other many other online opinion sites for ""understanding"" of their medical conditions.
I certainly have little cause for complaint with Summit, though I've had physicians whose offices I will never step into again, for multiple reasons: This is most often due to incompetence of office staff (many MDs appear to be cheap, and hire from the bottom of the intellectual and educational barrels to increase their practices profits. This, however, may backfire as they loose customers, patients, that is). There are also a few Docs
who I have known to be either poorly trained, or not bright enough to ""get it.""
Also, please remember, those who barely graduate Med School... are still called ""Doctor!"" That said, and as in every field (by definition) the ""average"" doctor is just that: average. so, as always Caveat Emptor.
A few WORDS to the WISE: Even if you are totally lay to medical science, try to educate yourself about your medical conditions using a reputable resource such as Mayo Clinic Online, or WebMD, which are written for the average (non-medical) person. **DO NOT TRUST BLOGS; there is much more garbage, nonsense, and misinformation on them than reliable facts. This is especially true regarding rather nebulous conditions such as fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome.
Also, NEVER EVER trust a web source that is offering to sell you anything - and there are many, many out there. My sister has, and has always been sold an expensive load of ""self-help"" manuals and junk ""supplements"" that have been universally worthless or worse, damaging!
Pros: I am able to get appointments on short notice when needed, and I'm comfortable with the medical care I've received. I've always had my (too) many medical needs addressed, or have been referred to the appropriate specialist.
Cons: This is a busy practice and they can run behind schedule, though I've not experienced this in the past few years. And, like too may other practices, I suspect they try to economize on costs, thus seem to have a rather high turnover in ancillary-care staff. They ought raise wages and retain their help.
