Southern Feelin's 8/5/2010

The place is a southern charm. We have looked many places to find a warm, friendly, and helpful place and when the viewer says look no more believe it. This is a very old facility with a ranch resort feeling the place decor is amazing and this place stays cleaned there has never been a time when we have visited to experience the place not smelling unpleasant. The facility administrators are always so helpful and understanding. Please don't be turn off due to the age of this place it is really a hidden treasure. I would tell anyone who is looking for a nice, clean, and classy place were you will experience a professional administrative staff. We are very well pleased, it feel like being in our own home. The Rehab team is excellent and always follow up with us concerning our love ones health and progress. We have been here three weeks and it's has been an amazing experience. more

Hidden Diamond 12/7/2008

My mother has been at Sugarland for a short time, my family and I have been throughly pleased with the staff, from the administrator ( who has greeted us everytime we enter the building, and addresses us by name ) to housekeeping. We only wished we knew of this place last year when we placed her in W.O Rehab and Healthcare. She is happy, therefore we are really happy. Lots of activities for the residents, very family like feeling when you enter the building. By the way, the moment you enter the building it is very fresh smelling. My favorite is the courtyard and garden out back for the residents. Highly recommended if you can get a bed. Pros: Staff, Staff, Staff Cons: Small rooms more

Gold that's hidden 10/21/2008

My husband has been in this facility for about 5yrs and we have not received any of the treatment such as the viewer called"" the worst place to be ""i not even sure why anyone would have a love one in a place they feel so bad about it wouldn't matter how much he/she loves their roommate. When walking in the building at anytime of the day or weekend you will find this place is clean and smells odor free; and beside the food is great!!! The nurses are trained and greet you with a smile, walking through the building you will see how the administrator Mr. Washington interact with the residents very friendly walking and talking to family member asking them about 'how can they improve the facility and make it a better place ""for their love ones and this is with most of his devoted staff . I feel like this is a place away from home my husband who was a very successful business man is now confined to a bed with many health problems. i can't think of any other place to have him and very reasonable in price. Anyone looking for a clean, odor free, caring nursing facility look no more this is the place to be. I have showed up many times when no one expected and found the staff is devoted to their job. I am so impress the building is old in age but offer the "" Red Carpet"" treatment. The facility welcome group activity from local charities as well as within each time you visit you will find games and singing going forward. I can never thank these people enough but i can say this is a great place to have your love ones. Pros: Wonderful Team and great care. Cons: small rooms but very clean. more

Worst Health Care Center 8/22/2008

This place is the worst place to put a senior for care. The place smells. They are now doing a face lift by taking down the wallpaper and painting. The rooms are very small and the bathroom need a face lift also.\r \r Now to the care, there is no good care. The seniors that seem to be there on a permanent basis roam the hallways with no wone to watch them. The staff is never responsive to the needs. There is one lady that cries out for help everytime I am there. No one checks up on her. THe staff stay on break more then they work.\r \r The food , well there just is enough space to address it. The food is non eatible, but if it is all you have then you have to eat it. If you call the facility and is put on hold the recording talks about how they serve award winning food. NOT. I would not give that food to my dog. The drinks are always water down to be the weaks it can. The fruit rarely is fresh. The board of health needs to make a surprise visit. The feed seniors at 5PM for dinner, and nothing else after that. So the senior eat from the vending machine.\r \r I know all of this because my mother is there. I have asked several times to move her, but she says now cause she likes her roommate My mother cannot get out of bed by herself and wears adult diapers. The care not that she needs to be cleanes, i have been there and was told she had to wait until they come off their breaks. The nurses at the front station are like puppets. They only dispense the medicine. Ask them to do something, you will be told that you have to wait until the the person who works the unit come back. \r \r What hapen to customer service? My mother had had her clothes stolen. I say stolen cause I put her name in all her clothes and we dont get then back. I was albe to go tothe luandry room and look through the washed clothes, but they dont put them outside the room anymore. I have to keep replacing her clothes.\r \r I could go on but think twice before yoiu chose this place for care of your mother. Pros: there are no pros Cons: staff don't care about the residents more

Good nursing Home 5/3/2008

What is the past person reviewing The Sugar Land Health Care Center at 333 Matlege is a Nursing Home and a very good one. They are taking great care of my Mother at age 96. They call at the slightest incident. \r Quite please with the place. Got a good rating from the area Ombudsman. Pros: They take good care of the residents and keep the families involved Cons: Rooms are very small and no parking more

Massage therapists have high level of expertise; Great prices; Not your fancy spa, but a great place for when you need serious work done on your muscles! 2/23/2007

This place is a hidden treasure... I am a massage therapist (with my own business unrelated to SL Health Center) and this is where I come to get massages. The prices are really decent... about $60 per hour. However, prepare to write a check or pay cash, because some massage therapists don't always have their credit card machines with them. \r \r Though the appearance is sparse, the massage therapists (for the most part) usually have at least 5-7 years experience (pretty solid for RMTs). Most of them have taken a variety of extra massage courses and are schooled in all types of techniques. This is not the place to come for a frou-frou massage, but if you have a serious pain that needs acute attention, the RMTs here can handle it better than almost anyone else.\r \r I've patronized almost all of the therapists here, and there are a few points worth mentioning. \r \r Specifically, Tonja Samford is one of the best massage therapists I've ever known. Her extensive knowledge combined with her inquisitive and caring nature allow her to figure out exactly how to alleviate your pain while still making you feel relaxed. She may not fix you up within one visit (some problems often cannot be fixed within a day), but give her a few sessions and you'll be as good as new. \r \r Also, do not use Fred Lising. He is the one blemish on this great institution... Though he has a few years of experience, he gave me one of the worst massages I've ever received (and I've had hundreds). His technique is awkward and unfocused at best, and he has an insensitive bedside manner. Anybody else who works there will be much more worth your time and money. Pros: Experienced RMTs/LMTs, great prices, excellent follow-up Cons: Payment methods, decoration, occasional noisiness more
