Editorial review from Citysearch 1/25/2014

The Sufi Coffee Shop is a rare find. You won't taste a better cup of coffee anywhere, and the experience is simply out of this world. The proprietor roasts 2-3 small batches of coffee a week, so it's always fresh. He waits patiently while you consider the possibilities, then he grinds the beans you request for an individually dripped cup of coffee that you can savor inside or in the peaceful outdoor patio. \r \r Another house specialty is the Turkish coffee, or you might enjoy one of the many delicious espresso drinks and smoothies on the menu. If you're hungry for more, you can take your pick of pastries, paninis, and homemade soup.\r \r For more than 11 years, this little gem has graced the local Mountain View community. It may not be quite what you expect when you first cross the transom... but if you're looking for a unique haven from the daily grind, you might find it's just what you need. more

Bay area best people and best coffee 8/13/2010

Compassion at the sufi coffee shop\r I was in a coffee shop in Mountain View (Sufi coffee shop) last week, on W. El Camino Real and Castro doing my homework. An Indian Family came in, older man and wife and a young couple who seemed to be married and expecting a new comer soon. The owner of the coffee shop welcomed them and was very courteous especially toward the old Indian man. The old Indian man approached the owner and asked him some questions about Sufism. I did want to be a busy body so I kept my head down and contiued doing what I was doing before, reading my text book. They were served and went out to the patio garden to relax to drink their drinks. The owner of the coffee shop, after a while went out and sat with them. Later he gave the old Indian man a Sufi magazine (free a $6.00 value) and was extremely compassionate toward him\r \r \r Later that day he shared what the Indian family told him.\r \r He said this man is a Sikh and he was surprised why he wasn't wearing his turban. So the coffee shop owner asked his daughter about his turban. She told him some people had made comments about his turban and so he is scared to wear his turban in public.\r \r Later on that day as I was contemplating over the Indian fellow and how the Sufi coffee shop owner was so caring and kind, I thought really what it takes to become a true human being...................!? more

Best Coffee Shop in Bay Area 8/16/2008

If you want to find a truly relaxing and soothing place to enjoy a cup of joe, the Sufi Coffee Shop is your place. This coffee shop provides a wonderful atmosphere that invites you to enjoy a serene and peaceful environment while also experiencing the taste one of the best cup of coffees around. The aromas fill you with a sense of comfort and warmth as you enter through the door. They also provide a tranquil outside patio where one can converse in intellectual and stimulating conversation, surf the net, or enjoy a good read. I would recommend everyone to stop by and see what is in store for you! Pros: Comforting Atmosphere, Wonderful employees, Excellent Coffee Cons: 2 hour min. for Internet usage more

Best coffee and spirit in South Bay 7/30/2008

If you're looking for a great tasting cup of coffee and soothing atmosphere, Sufi coffee shop is the place. Variety of coffee and mocha flavor drinks. I was told that coffee beans are roasted few times a week in small patches for freshness and quality. On different occasions, I tried Perfect Kobari and Yauco from the menu and they were magnificent as it was described in the coffee shop's menu. The shop has a patio garden which is worth a visit alone. It has a very serene and beautiful atmosphere. This coffee shop is the place to sooth your mind and satisfy your taste for great coffee, yet let your mind gets relaxed away from the daily busy life and being evoked by the great writings on the shop's wall. Don't forget to try the Panini sandwiches. Pros: Best coffee in South Bay & Peninsula more

Coffee evolution 7/16/2008

This is an evolutionary place.....everything is evolving.....the coffee, the ambience, people and truely it is out of ordinary place. The coffee is heaven, smooth aromatic and peaceful. This coffee shop offers you what you don't expect to have...it goes above your expectation. It is just wonderful. Pros: Thums up Cons: nothing more

The Best coffee ever and the best heart. 6/26/2008

Only I want to say Sufi coffee shop is the nicest place I have ever been. Sometimes I've seen reviews that seems not to fit the place. It makes me very sad. Sufi coffee shop is a place to go look for God, it is unpretentiously spiritual and serene. The coffee is the best, dripped individually to order.\r Hope more people go there and keep it going.\r P.S. The old man working there has a bit of hearing problem! Pros: Thumbs up Cons: nothing more

A local treasure... 2/19/2008

I had to search to find the place but it was more than worth it. On cold days, I warm up on the tasty soups and pannini. On hot days, their smoothies are great - fresh, no artificial aftertaste and very yummy. Always, the best coffee ever and each cup really does taste as its made - freshly ground right before its brewed and dripped with old-world dedicated care by the proprietors. As far as the atmosphere, all I can say is it fits any mood I'm in, whether work-mode or needing stimulation or peace. I've been coming here since the place opened and now would not go anywhere else. Once you spot it, access is easy and nurturing to the spirit! Pros: cozy & peaceful ambiance, coffees & edibles Cons: hard to find at first, difficult to bring large groups in more

Simply beautiful... 9/4/2007

A lovely and intimate place to go to at any time of day but I must say that nothing compares to sitting in the back patio in the early evening. Small lights surround the entire patio creating a peaceful and romantic space to be in alone or with someone. Perfect for reading, working, talking, or simply relaxing. I live one minute away and feel privileged to have such an amazing place only a few steps away. A wonderful place to visit and to just take in the experience. more

More than a cafe... 9/4/2007

Sufi is perhaps the most pleasant place to sit in urban South Bay. In addition to the many rare and expertly prepared coffee offerings, Sufi?s back patio and friendly owners are a real draw. The patio is a shaded oasis of plants, chessboards, and?if you?re willing?profound conversation. I highly recommend dropping by for a moment of unparalleled coffee, kind conversation, and peaceful reflection. Pros: Coffee, Ambience, Back Patio, Owners, Parking Cons: Food is a little overpriced for what you get. more

Great place for excellent Coffee and atmosphere 9/4/2007

A most transquil and serene location 7/22/2007

This cozy little coffee shop has it all. The ambiance fits perfectly for the diligent as well as the social citizen. I came here with my brother one afternoon and every day since we have come for drinks and their wi-fi or simply to toke from a cigar and chat. It has an amazing patio in the back, complete with several verandas. I highly recommend it to anyone. more

Aromatic coffee, delightful atmosphere 10/27/2005

The freshest coffee you'll find in any coffee shop: taste and aroma are unsurpassed. The teas are also first-class: green tea, lechee tea, and others. Music from around the globe playing in the background; quotations, paintings, and artistic photos lining the walls; shelves bursting with books, magazines, and gift items; and personalized service--all add up to a magnificent coffee experience! A place like no other. more

For The Coffee Lovers 10/15/2005

This place is really unique. The amount of care and love that is put into serving coffee is like no other. They roast beans a little at a time and everything's ground right there in front of you. Then the coffee's brewed ""dripped"" style. I recommend trying it out if you get tired of drinking the same old stale coffee. Plus, the place is cozy. Has a personal feel to it, the kind of place where you can sit down and actually relax. Good music, good books/magazines, and non-commercial atmosphere. Pros: good parking in back, usually not crowded, tasty gourmet snacks Cons: closes at 8pm, small meal menus more

Absolutely the best coffee period. 10/5/2005

They way coffee is prepared at Sufi Coffee Shop makes for absolutely the best coffee period. Very comfortable peaceful atmostphere to sit, listen to beautiful music, and relax. more
