Worst

This is a place for fraternity boys and girls who want to be with them. Not authentic Nashville at all. A bad addition to Broadway. Pros: Nothing Cons: Clientele, Music

Great atmosphere, excellent service 10/29/2010

There's a reason The Stage is packed almost every night, because it is by far the best honkytonk on Broadway. It's as simple as that. If you are looking to have a great time, receive great service and listen to great bands The Stage is the place to be! more

Avoid! Bouncers here have a God complex! 10/12/2010

I went to this bar this past friday as an out of town guest in Nashville. I stepped outside for a few minutes and the bouncers refused to let me back in. I pleaded with them to at least allow me to find my friends because I was out of town. I never laid a hand on the bouncer and out of nowhere, he began saying ""f-you, f-you"" and pushed me backward into a parking meter as hard as he could. I am a small female and this was a large built man. I now have horrible bruises all over my back. I'm actually lucky that I hit the parking meter b/c as an alternative, I would have been pushed off of the curb and fallen into the street, possibly hitting my head. I feel that what was done to me was truly an assault and certainly excessive given the situation. To add to this, another bouncer witnessed the event and both of them lied to the police about the assault. Any man who would physically injure a woman deserves a special place in Hell and so does this bar. more

I worked at The Stage for about 6 months talk about great 8/17/2010

A true Honkey Tonk. Working there was like getting paid to hang out at your favorite bar and stock beer one in a while. Ruble and Brenda did another fine job with this one. with the original painting of tThe Highwaymen above the door to the murel on the wall. all class/ I was there when it was real. Peter Weiss Bouncer/Barback Legends Corner/Second Fiddle/The Stage/ Roberts Oh Yeahhh more

Good Fun 8/16/2010

A great place to hang out and hear good old country music. Fun atmosphere real country. Don't where your good clothes, but if your not in your jeans you probably shouldn't be here to start with. more

Warning-this is a 21 & over establishment at night 6/7/2010

Do not attempt to get in if under 21 with someone else's ID or fake ID. Bouncer does not merely turn you away. He will have you arrested. Tenn. penalty is fine plus up to 30 days in jail along with ruining your record. Can cost you thousands in legal fees. Beware college kids!! Go elsewhere to an 18 & under establishment. Pros: .. Cons: .. more

Favorite Bar on Broadway 2/15/2010

The Stage has everything a native, or tourist, could want from a Nashville Honkey Tonk! I go every Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm to see the amazing Sarah Montgomery and the Patch Work Band play and hang out with the Awesome Bar Tender Casey. She'll be the gorgeous blonde serving drinks to the customers and getting up on stage to sing some Miranda Lambert every now and then. Come on over and hang out with us some time! Pros: Great Music, Awesome Staff, Cool Atmosphere more

Best time I had in Nashville 7/27/2009

Worst Service I've Ever Received From A Bartender 6/26/2009

I've never been treated so poorly, by a person making a living on tips, before I set foot in this bar. Let me start by stating that I was a bartender before and throughout my college years (just graduated) and I knew how to treat customers so that they would enjoy their time, and I ALSO knew how to ensure that I was left a nice tip. Apparently Casey (was that that blonde's name?) didn't quite grasp that concept. Would you consider a driver's license far more valid than a government-issued military identification card? I wouldn't... but this idiot did... and treated me like I was a child trying to sneak a few drinks. There isn't much information on both the front AND the back of this type of ID, but the bartender 'read' it for nearly one and a half minutes. When she was done, she demanded that I give her my driver's license so that she could compare the two. Almost another minute went by before she LITERALLY flicked them back to me across the bar. Now, people.. like I said, I've bartended for over five years. I know how to be nice to people. When I walked in, I had my ID ready so that she wouldn't be inconvenienced by having to ask. Needless to say, I wasn't a rude customer nor did I deserve this treatment. Beware if you are in the service trying to find a good time at The Stage. Pros: quite touristy Cons: service more

The Stage 3/17/2009

The Stage and Legends Corner are my fav places to dance, drink and have an absolutly fantastic time! And Both managers are way cute! Pros: Large place, Great Fun more

ONE OF THE LARGEST COUNTRY MUSIC STAGE BARS ON BROADWAY! 4/1/2008

It was a nice, comfortable bar. The live music was great. They have a large area for dancing if one desires. It seems this place has more of the ""above average"" talented bands performing here. The beer was a little expensive though ($4.00 just for a Pabst). I didn't stay too long.....just had one beer and watched the band. Pros: Large Stage, excellent bands, large dance floor, large bar area Cons: Overpriced compared to other bars in the same area more

Avoid any time. 1/14/2008

I went in on Friday night with my boyfriend to have a few drinks. We weren't there long before someone grabbed my butt. My boyfriend laughed and told him to go on. That same person grabbed for my breast. I was shocked. My boyfriend asked the bartender if they allowed this kind of behavior and she said she would get someone to take care of it. The next thing I knew my boyfriend and I were being thrown out. Once outside, we were told that the person (and I use that term loosely) is good friends with the door guy. I couldn't believe it. Don't go unless your friends with the door man because you could be next on his list. more

Rockin 4/30/2007

This place is almost always packed and they usually have good bands. I always drop in for a few drinks when I'm downtown and it's a good time. IF you don't like crowds, this place aint for you. Most of the time there's a line waiting to get in. You never know who's gonna show up though, and that's always cool. more

Fun atmosphere. 10/22/2006

Great bands that play popular covers. A mixed crowd, college students to 50 year olds. No cover charge. The line can be pretty long Thursday through Saturday. Pros: no cover! fun bands Cons: long lines more

Great Band 7/6/2006

I was recently in Nahville and friends took me to The Stage. What an evening. The service was excellent and the band Jackson Hill was fantastic. They have an amazing blend of country, southern rock and good ole rock and roll. Not at all what I expected out of Nashville but it was a great night. I am a non smoker and bars sometimes get so bad you can't get any fesh air. This place made me very comfortable although folks were smoking. I will be sure to get there my next trip to Nashville if Jackson Hill is in town. Pros: Jackson Hill, the music and the service Cons: smoke but not horrible more

Best place to visit on Broadway in Nashville 6/25/2006

What a night of good ol' fashion country rockin' and stompin'. Made it in and saw a new young singer named Lewis Copeland; what a great singer and entertainer! If you're in Nashville, stop in The Stage and if your lucky, they may have Copeland playing again. Great Place! Pros: In the middle of everything Cons: no food more

Most Entertaining 5/2/2006

This is probably the most exciting place on Broadway. First time there it was great!! The band was good, beer was cold, people were fun. The next time we were there we saw and heard Jackson Hill perform. They were absolutely fantastic. We have seen and heard them now 5 times and can't get enough. Their music, whether country or rock is the best. The bar has an atmosphere unmatched by any other. Fun, exciting and something to look forward to again. Pros: Jackson Hill, Great People, Exciting Cons: Finding Parking more

Awesome! 3/19/2006

You are guaranteed to have a good time at the stage. It was the first place we went we got there. An awesome band called Raisin' Cain was playing when we walked it at 4pm and we sat there and listened to them for a couple hours. We went back another night and another awesome band was playing!!!!
