I am an "" old school catholoic"" I called myself a half cath ha when I decided to further my faith and commit myself to my confirmation. I grew up catholic and my children started to prepare at St. Barts for thier first Communion I realized that I was lacking in my own renewal of Faith . I started to renew my faith by taking some classes. The class was very relaxed and open.I feel like all these things I had stuck in my head that I could not stand about the church were no longer in existance. The churhc did not expect you to pray pay and obey ---and smile about it . I could actually get to know my priest and be able to really speak with him and the other parishioners about real life issues. I have found that the more I volunteer the more I get to know and meet new people of all ages. I am now participating in the Childrens Liturgy at our 11:15 mass where your little ones learn about the word in a little less formal matter and some of us do a fun crafts to tie it together. I hear the youth groups meeting laughing & music playing .There is a new Welcome Committee for new parishioners.St. Barts has lot's of Ministries one of my favorite is Our Daily Bread and the Drop In Center or try Coffee Talk or Faith Quest to meet others.You can volunteer as little or as much as you want . The festival this year was a blast! You have to come just to try a fried OREO-ha! Everyone has encouraged our family to become better people and isn't that what it is about plus 1 hour to yourself to reflect and to really stop in our hectic lives & think about where you want your life to be. We have made great friends. I will say our choir is great . We had a town meeting where everyone broke off into groups seniors,singles, moms told us what thier concerns & needs were . All this information was tabulated and interpreted and now they are executing a master plan to try to achieve to meet everyones needs.God Bless .wherever you decide to go &... no I do not work for the church ha! ha!
Pros: parking, social activities, ministries, childrens liturgy and youth groups
Cons: some people may consider being large a con I just think it's more variety!!
