I have referred to my time spent at this facility as similar to a horror movie in a mental ward. I was threatened with violence, false reports, and drugs, if i did not agree to their theories, treatment, and definition of civil rights. If you need or want drugs this is the place for you. Otherwise never ever go near this facility. The treatment is degradation, intimidation, manipulation,and extortion. They prey on the weak and powerless. I was denied every civil right listed anywhere. Stripsearched & loss of all personal property including glasses. I could have stuffed my eyeglasses up my assper in case I needed them during my stay. Right. LOL I went to talk about an abusive marriage and was locked up for an ""incinuation."" (Somebody falsly interpreted something as I said as threatening) Do not say anything to these people. I made no threat of any kind. There is no law governing what they say...they interpret it to mean any sick thing they want to say. You do not have any rights at all. You have much more rights at the city jail. I cannot describe the sickness I felt here for the ladies in my ward. What a pathetic excuse for treatment of the emotionally disturbed. But it is pretty easy to rip off medicaid and even insurance companies. The so-called group therapy was a joke. Ive had deeper conversations at the lunch table on a construction job. No one could ever answer questions. Higher paid employees seemed to be narccistic while lower ranking employees tended to be much more humane. I was repeatedly scolded for asking for my glasses. (From the more elite staff members, of course.) They never quit putting papers in front of me & demanding I read, sign, or otherwise participate without the ability to read. They seemed angry about everything, especially that I would not take thier drugs. There was nothing ethical about this place in my book. Liars & theives with the power to drug you beyond recognition is my take on it. It scared me beyond anything I have personally had to deal with and thats been alot of stuff. Only in communist Russia or China...no, right here in the good old USA. And yes to all that the other ladies said. no answers, no proper records, no judge,Hippa violations, They seem to set the patients up to return. More of the same drug...forced back to the abuser...pimp...same household where sexual abuse occured etc. Attempts to talk about these issues were thwarted. #1 RULE: Just do & say what they tell you to and dont ask questions.(followed by threats of extended stay or injection of drugs) EXTORTION. Fraudulant reports to my insurance company. Slander. Defamation. more

Oh my goodness, listen to what I'm saying to you! If you love the person you are sending here at all you won't. It. Is. HELL. I'm a young lady and they stripsearched me 4 times. It is the worst treatment center I have been to. The staff are crule mean people and ... its like you're not treated like a human in there. Don't do this to your loved ones. -samantha more

I went to SMS because of a mood disorder caused by hyperthyroidism, I was there 2 weeks. There is a lot of support by group therapy thru-out the day and some of the best nursing staff I've seen anywhere. The CNA's were better than average, too and I liked everyone. I really am grateful to this place for my life. The food is GREAT! My psychiatrist, Dr. Ortega, however, thought he would outsmart me over my thyroid condition but NOT. He wasn't very accessibe, either, coming in late nights and I learned, you have to demand to see the medical doc from the get-go or lose out. but other doctors there impressed me a lot. Despite this doc, I would go there again, it was that positive an experience, overall. more

You will have to smoke if you want to go outside. There is no area to be quite or quietly converse. I had to hide in my closet for some peace. Televisions supervise the patients, usually Matlock. There was an age limit of 40+ so it's an uninspiring carnival of noise and lethargy. The last place on Earth to be helped. more

My name is albert amante and I was admitted to this rehabilitation center as an inpatient. All I want to say is this place completely changed my life and that I would recommend you go here for any of your serious troubles. I remember when I was first sent to the gym with a group, I was scared, too shy, and reluctant to play any activities with others. That all changed after a day or two significantly. I changed positively so much, that I felt as a new person. I made many friends here, including the staff members and nurses. They were very nice and it was a pleasure talking with them. I learned about the other inpatient's lives and their stories about in general and how they got here. I never thought they could have done it since i've had my mental disorder for 8 years but thankfully, they've given me a new start on life. Everything they do here is like what you would get from a perfect family. This place was like my 2nd home, or even a new life. They keep you in all day but I even found that to be better for my benefit. They closely monitor your situation with a team of doctors or phychiatrists to help you become better. They even provide group therapy daily to help better yourselves even more. I have a ton of people to thank who work and helped me here as it was like my second life. I am now a much more positive, kind, confident, and more full of myself person thanks to this facility. This place offers 100% help and support with no favors in return! and I respect that with so much gratitude as they are so generous. I am thankful and will finally continue to be a positive person. more

Very limited medical staff. ABSOLUTE refusal to answer phone calls from family. 3 days and NO physician will return a call. Have left message after message for a return call. Staff refuses to disclose their medical background and many have NO medical background. Cons: very unprofessional, more

Very unprofessional staff! They were more interested in their lives than helping the patients. When my parents insurance ran out, they kicked me out..They are all about money not helping teenagers with serious mental health issues. They told me lies, they told my parents lies. Do not take your child to this facility......if you care about them!!! more

I first went here as a patient and received wonderful help. They supported me in the areas i needed it and helped me grow. They taught me alot and helped me become less shy and more of a leader. The staff were all nice and truley cared what happened to me. years later, i got a job working for them as a staff member and am so glad i have a chance to repay them for all the help they gave me :) more
