Should we move into a retirement community, now that we have arrived at a stage in life where our daily living requirements seen to be presenting us with many unforeseen problems? It takes a lot of serious soul searching on one's part to come up with the right decision for this question. Giving up a known lifestyle and moving to an unknown is a very daunting and emotional experience.
My husband and I had many serious discussions on the pros and cons of such a move. In the end we concluded that many of the neccessary things that we needed or desired- such as help in an emergency, transportation to medical appointments, the availability of meals, annd physical and social activities commensurate with one's overall health - would be available in a proper retirement community.
Somerby has offered us a lifestyle of independence, more activities thanwe can possibly participate in, opportunities for exercising our minds and bodies, and an abundance of friends. The staff at all levels excel in their friendliness and their desire to be helpful and caring. Somerby is located conveniently to shopping, restaurants, hospitals and a variety of entertainment. The beautiful decor and well maintained grounds are impressive and inviting.
