I wish I'd read the reviews here before using Smith and Noble. The in home design consultant was very underwhelming, really didn't provide any suggestions or inspiration. When the blinds finally came, one of the top-down components was broken. The installer said he's asked for them just to give him extra parts to have on hand, but they won't. So that meant a whole new shade had to be ordered, made and sent. Another 2-3 week wait. Then the WRONG shade arrives. When I call they said oh we'll send you a new one in two weeks. Make a mistake once, ok, but twice. And they were very unwilling to accomodate me. They did credit me $50 (still to be seen if they do), but I think at the price they are charging the full shade should have been comped. The 3rd replacement shade took not 2 but 3 weeks to arrive. Not impressed at the prices they are charging their customer service is AWFUL! more

Very happy with the entire experience – great quality - just what I wanted 6/14/2011

I hesitated on my final purchase after reading past reviews. But I weighed the pros and cons, and this was the only place that I have found that offered exactly what I wanted without having to settle for anything I didn't want (type of chain/cord, color of chain/cord, color or type of fabric, etc). The online store was great to browse through. Customizing my order was easy, very informative and lots of notes to help make decisions on every detail. There was also detailed information to take the guess work out of measurements. The custom roller shades I ordered arrived earlier than I expected. They were the exact size, everything was there that I needed, all the instructions were very clear. I put them up tonight (they arrived today), they look fantastic and work perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase and the entire experience. more

Delay, Delay, Delay... 2/12/2010

I placed an order with Smith & Noble for the purchase of 5 roller blinds. After the sales person let me know of a 2 week delivery, she ended up putting 3 weeks in the contract. After 2 weeks since submitting the order, I was then notified of an additional week delay! It's now the date of the delayed delivery and I called to check up on the status of my shades - another 3 week delay!!! It's going to be almost 2 months since placing an order with this company to POTENTIALLY receive the shades. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! A company prepared to significantly not deliver on promises AND to treat their customers poorly does not deserve our business!!! more

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but my experience with this company has been so bad that I feel others should be warned. I ordered approximately $2,000 worth of tri-cell fabric blinds from Smith & Noble last July for a new house that I recently purchased. The quality is terrible with roughly 50% of the blinds being longer (by about an inch) on one side than the other. I have had repeated problems with one blind not being able to be mounted properly and the company has sent me two completely different sets of mounting brackets and neither works. I now have multiple holes drilled in the window frame to show for it that will need to be patched and repainted. I have repeatedly called, faxed and e-mailed detailed information, photos and drawings about the problems with no refund or resolution after 7 months. Each time I call, I have to start all over again explaining what the problems are and trying to get a resolution because they say they "have no record of the problem" and I can never get the same person on the phone twice. This, after I have called every month for 7 months! I send the same information by fax and e-mail each time and NEVER GET A CALL BACK even though I have confirmations that they are receiving the information. While the people on the phone are always polite and curteous, there is never any follow-through or resolution. At this point, I am simply giving up and am out my $2,000. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! more

Wow...what a mistake 11/8/2009

Silly me, I thought I'd save some money and order blinds from this company.....huge mistake. 1st shipment, wrong sizes, 2nd, wrong color, 3rd wrong everything. I finally gave up and canceled my order, they said that I was past the 60 days, so they couldn't refund my money...well, AMEX said differantly and I got every penny back. I went local (Northwest Window Coverings) and not only got what I wanted the 1st time, everything was correct and the saleperson gave me a discount for what he calls "Buying Local", but I think he just felt sorry for me. :) Anyway, lesson learned, no more going cheap! more

Forget Smith & Noble 6/5/2007

I agree with Jill B. I ordered the sliding panels and the installation instructions might as well have been written in ancient greek-it took four people three days to get them up and we're still not sure if they're right. When I called the company i was told "oh, that's an internet order-we can't help you". The quality of the material is very cheap and the edges-which are unfinished-are already fraying Avoid Smith & Noble. more

DO NOT USE SMITH & NOBLE 4/15/2007

I just got done with Smith & Noble and having them install blinds. Nothing but problems from start to finish. It took 3 months from start to finish to get everything done and with all of the re-installs due to a lack of quality control of their part. Do not use these folks. more
