My Horse Loves Singletree Stables 10/15/2010

I have been boarding my horse at Singletree Stables for the past 5 years. I am very happy with the stable owners and staff, as they take excellent care of my horse and he is happy and in excellent condition. Singletree owners and staff are completely responsible for my horse's care; as I only get to visit him on weekends. If I have any problems or concerns, all I have to do it call Joan or Jill and let them know what it is and it's taken care of. In my opinion, you can't go wrong boarding your horse at this stable. Check it out, as they always welcome visitors and will show you around and you can see for yourself how the horses and stables are taken care of. I have never seen any horses being abused; quite the opposite. Everyone who works or boards there have been polite, helpful and friendly. more

Give them a try!! 10/14/2010

In response to the review submitted by Ashlee, I would like to tell you what I have observed at Singletree Stables. I began riding at Singletree over 25 years ago when I was 12 years old. Regardless of where life has taken me, I have remained in contact with both Joan and Jill. I have had numerous horses with various trainers over the past 15 years around the country. My husband and I relocated earlier this year back to Wichita with our 17 month old daughter. I currently have horses in training in Kentucky but ride at Singletree to keep in shape as well as familiarize my daughter with horses. I know many other families whos children ride at Singletree and they have all had positive experiences. I have not seen a more safe group of lesson horses. They are well cared for not only by the owners, but the full time staff and the children that love them. As for privately owned horses, I have never wittnessed an animal being abused nor would I tolerate it. As a boarder, it is each individual owners responsibility to ensure their horses feet are maintained and their horse is in proper condition. It sounds like this person needs to educate herself a little more on how to care for her horse. If such problems persisted and her horse was being neglected, why stay for ""a few years""? I can't speak for things being stolen - I haven't had that problem. The stalls are average size and cleaned daily. The indoor arena is extremely large and anyone is welcome to ride in it, even if lessons are going on. There is an indoor roundpen, outdoor arena, two tracks and numerous other areas to ride in. As far as making minors pick sticky weeds?? What??!! Singletree is a fun, safe environment for you or your child. I know they welcome visitors anytime so please go check them out and let the truth speak for itself!! more

If you want to LEARN, this is the place 10/13/2010

I've been riding and volunteering at Singletree Stables a couple times a week for 3 months. I was a frequent and experienced rider when I was younger, but I haven't riden for years and had never been formally taught how to ride. Joan and Jill have years of knowledge to teach and if you're there to learn, you will. I have learned so much. The horses they use for lessons have one great quality in common, they're SAFE for all riders, which allows you to concentrate on improving your skills as a rider. Yes, many of them are older, but when I'm ready for a younger, spunkier horse, I'll buy one. After all, I'm going there for the lesson, not a pleasure ride. I'm currently riding a horse that will do anything I ask ... walk, trot, cantor and neck rein. Joan & Jill are ""yellers"", but its instruction and if its for your safety or the riders around you, they need you to hear them and respond, not to mention you're moving in an open space and it can be hard to hear. My first day volunteering, the class I worked with had a special needs child in it. They did so well with him, that I've taken my son there for a lesson. He is ADHD/Asburger and they did very very well with him and he did great too. I've been to other stables that have instructors in their 20's. They wouldn't have had the knowledge base that Jill & Joan have, nor would they have been able to instruct my son. And the 10 one-hour lessons for $150 is a great value. I'd recommend lessons at Singletree for any age beginner or anyone looking to brush up on their skills. I really enjoy volunteering and helping pass on what I'm learning to others. Volunteering gives me a chance to learn on the ground as well as getting some time with a few of the other horses. Oh, and I've never seen anyone have to pull weeds, or been asked to pull them myself. I can't say that I can find a bit of truth in Ashlee14Ashlee's review. I've never seen a horse beat with a whip, the stalls and the facility has always been clean, and the other riders and borders have been courteous and friendly. Go See for yourself!! more
