I have been his patient since 1984 and refuse to quit seeing him on the basis he is so personable and often goes way beyond the call of duty. He helped my mom through some marital issues when I was a baby. When I was in college he did whatever he could to save me money, loading me up with samples instead of having me pay for prescription medicine. To this day he continues to make himself available to me whenever I need anything from advice to serious medical care. He's like the cool Uncle I wish I had. I guess I do in Doctor Spector! more

The doctor is quirky, but I love it. He is simply the best doctor around. I take my kids there and even though they don't like their routine appointmens (usually because they know they are going to receive shots of some kind), I think they like him. He is also some kind of neonatal blood specialist. Check him out on Seattle's best doctors list (voted by his peers), he has been on there almost every year.... more

In 19 yrs. of life I haven't experienced much yet. But I can honestly say that the best doctor I have ever met would have to be the one I laid my baby eyes on. Dr. Spector is kind,meaningful and I love being around him. He makes all his patients feel welcome and cared for. He has the best bed side manner and He is there when ever he is needed. I suggest him to anyone and everyone meet who are about to have a child. They will love to be his paitent...I know I have....and I am sad that my years with him as my pediatrition is almost over. i really like dr. bowe as my son's pediatricts. it's been 3 yrs now. he is very helpful and he is willing to answer all my questions and worries about my sons every time he gets sick. just one call they will try to squeez my sons for appointment.....excellent service also...more power. more

My children have been going to Dr.Spector for over 5 years. They actually look forward to seeing him.......they play "Dr Spector" at home. His humor and commitment are marvelous. Be ware, however, he gets sick children in the same day so the later the morning or the later the afternoon that your appointment is, the more chance you have to wait. However, the wait is so well worth it. I am already dreading when they will eventually outgrow his practice. more

Dr. Spector is such a good doctor, I made sure that I came back to Seattle from Trinidad for my 3 year old visit. I wanted to make sure that his doctor was going to check him out to ensure he's growing well. He has been his doctor since birth and we moved back home six months prior to his third birthday, so I made the trek back up because Dr. Spector is worth it and so is my son. more

I know Dr. Spector in a way I only now can really talk about. 22 years ago my first Son was born at Swedish Dr. Spector was "assigned" as our doc-at the time he struck me as a little goofy. Two years later our second Son was born, this time we already knew who the doc was...Dr. Spector by now we had grown to love him and the way he treated us. Now here is were it gets a hard, our second Son died of SIDS two months after his birth. In times like this you really see what you are made of. Dr. Spector had my ex-wife and I in the office after hours to try and make sense of this mess. We spoke for what seemed like hours. Doctor or not how do you deal with this kind of thing? Well in this case Dr. Spector was a great comfort and truly helped. He has my deepest respect, I only wish he worked with adults too. I have not spoken with him in many years, but I will say that I KNOW he is still the best choice one could make for their child. Dave M. more

Interviewed several highly rated doctors but we were most comfortable with him. Quirky jokes but great guy and knowledgeable. Always fits us in appointments; even takes our calls while on vacations. Respects our views on medicine; going as natural as possible. more

A true professional in his field of pediatrics. His french nurse is about as sweet as they come and always remembers you and your child. Dr. Bowe is very thorough, if something is serious, he will solve it as fast as he can, he will make sure he does not miss even the slightest details and always has time for questions. Because of that attention to detail, the wait to see him from when your appointment was scheduled tends to be a little long, but he is well worth the wait. more

Upon moving to Seattle with our three children, my sister said I HAD to take them to Dr. Spector. Dr. Spector had saved her oldest son's life and virtually lived at the hospital until he was out of the woods. Fortunately, we have never needed his expertise for a life threatening illness but we have all the confidence in the world that he would be there for us if we needed him. He gets sick kids in daily and returns all calls daily before he goes home, His blue jeans and humor is his trademark. My kids call him Dr. Gary and they frequently play "Dr. Gary" at home, sometimes getting into heated arguements as to which one will be the doctor that day. more

Gary Spector has been our pediatrician since the day our son was born. He is an incredibly dedicated and talented physician. Besides being brilliant and incredibly up-to-date on the latest in medicine, he is thorough, proactive and decisive. Dr. Spector is exceptionally well-trained (he was the youngest med school graduate in the U.S. at the time), and has a background in hematology. Gary is a gifted clinician on a par with the best internal medicine docs around. He is unlikely to miss even a very difficult diagnosis. Gary does have a great sense of humor (he was a stand up comedian and pianist and put himself through med school with a stage act). He is irreverent and charming and always makes our visits a laugh fest. You'd have to be pretty "uptight" to not love this guy. IF you can get into his practice, you'll never regret it. Your child will get the best possible care from him. more

We started going to Dr. Bowe based on a recommendation from my Ob/Gyn. I couldn't be more happy. He is patient, listens, and never seems rushed. He offers advice for child rearing when asked and I love that he has two kids of his own. I have never had to wait long for my sons' appointments. Highly recommend him to everyone. more

We have been seen Dr David Bowe for almost 2 years now and we do have points of comparison with other Seattle pediatricians (in Swedish and a small clinic as well) and so far, he is the best doctor we have had. He sees or 4 and almost 2 year old daughters and they both like him. They get to practice their Spanish a little bit with him (he is totally fluent) and my husband and I feel like we have someone who truly cares for our little ones. He is a humble, unpretentious, friendly but also polite and very professional doctor. We highly recommend him and of course, give him 5 stars! more

I too agree with everyone else who has posted a positive rating for Dr. Bowe. He has been my daughter's doctor since birth, and we found him quite by accident. We were having some issues with our insurance and ended up seeing Dr. Bowe on a whim. We liked him so much that my older son sees him now as well! He has been our doctor for almost 3 1/2 years now. He is open, honest, patient, and not at all judgemental. I also LOVE Murielle his nurse! She too is fabulous! It is quite busy, but I have never had to wait long for our appointments. The front desk staff is also very helpful. We do have a little trouble scheduling our children's yearly appointments-but I believe that is because both of their birthdays fall in August-right before the Back to School Rush. I give Dr. Bowe 5 stars! more

My wife and I moved to Seattle a few years ago. We had three children and a fourth on the way. One of our children has a very serious birth defect. We were referred to Children's Hospital for care. Upon asking which pediatrician would be best for our children - especially our youngest- Dr. Spector's name was suggested by every doctor we talked to. As he was only taking newborns at the time, a few of the doctors at Childrens did some arm twisting and got us into his office. He is fabulous!. He arranged our first visit at the end of the day so he could spend the appropriate time with our son and our special needs. That visit was over 3 hours long! The care he has provided has made an incredible impact on all of us. He starts hospital rounds at about 6 AM and I have been told that he rarely leaves the office until 9PM. He returns all calls each day. His covering doctors are excellent as well. He is a character. He used to do standup comedy and irreverent humor and his blue jeans are a trademark. He says "life is far too important to take too seriously". I have been told that if he does get serious, get worried; there is something really wrong with the child. My children love him and look forward to their visits. P.S. if you are an intensely politically correct person, he is not for you. (This year for Halloween, he was the tooth fairy>) more
