We had a great experience at Shleifer Furniture. We found the people at Shleifer to be very helpful and patient. I'll admit that I am picky but had no trouble finding the perfect fabric for our new sofa, they had a great selection. They had what we were looking for at a reasonable price. We were especially happy being able to shop at a locally owned store. We were also pleased with the delivery service, they were professional and showed up when they said they would. We will definitely go back when we need a chair, a bed or any furniture. Pros: helpful staff, easy to find Cons: none more

Shleifers has helpful in store customer service and reasonable prices for average quality furniture--which seems to be hard to find in portland. I purchased a bed as I'm new in town and had it delivered. On the day of delivery everything went well, but one of the delivery guys obviously stole my phone. I say obviously, because at this point there is literally no furniture or packing boxes (everything was shipped and hadn't arrived yet), just a sofabed, myself, and the new bed. There was literally nowhere I could have lost this phone, which I had used five minutes before shliefers showed up to send some texts to my boyfriend. I was also at home all day waiting for deliveries. I called shliefers to see if I could get my phone back (this is a $400 phone and I just moved, kind of a big deal!) and while they put the delivery guy on the phone, his answer was evasive and weasely. He tried to make me feel bad for accusing him of stealing my phone, without actually saying "No I did not take your phone". Stupid me, for leaving my phone on the sofabed while I helped him with opening the doors. I wasn't expecting the spanish inquisition, but I wish they were a tiny bit more helpful, or hired slightly more honest people to deliver furniture! I have lived in major cities (much bigger than portland) my entire life until now, and have never dealt with anything like this before. Shleifer Furniture is truly a store that takes care of their customers. When my husband and I decided to purchase a dining set three months ago, after a year of searching through catalogs and local stores, we were so relieved to have finally made a decision. But to be honest, if it weren't for our sales person who bent over backwards helping us to find the perfect finish to match our existing woodwork, I don't think we would have ever ended the search. Although the set took a little longer to come in then what we were told originally, it was well worth the wait. Believe me, if you've ever special ordered furniture before, you know that glitches and delays can happen... and its not always the store's fault, but the manufacturing process. When the store manager called to inform me of the back order at the factory, he was kind enough to offer us a loaner dining set for our dinner party we were planning the following week. Bought a new set of furniture recently and the quality was great. I special ordered a few pieces that they estimated would take 4-6 weeks, it came in 6 or 7 and the wait was well worth it. I had a damaged nightstand that you could tell came from the factory that way and they had it taken care of very quickly. Most stores would have taken weeks to get something like this done, Shleifer's did it in days. Of all the store's I have been to in my life this was one of the friendliest I have been to. Great products and great Customer Service!! Highly recommended, I will definitely be back!! Pros: Service, attentiveness, quality Cons: none, if you've actually bought furniture from somewhere before and then buy from here, you won't go any place else, so you might as well start here!! more

We shopped at several local furniture stores and found this one to be the best in town. They gave us the best services, spent more time with us and answered all our questions to help us make the best choices. We ended up purchasing a leather sofa and 3 chairs. The chairs were a special order and one of them was no longer being made by the manufacturer. The owner called us and made arrangements around our schedule to select an alternate chair. Once again they were a big help is making this selection. We picked a new chair, the order was placed and they even waived the additional charge (our new selection was more expensive) and the additional delivery fee. We can't say enough good things about their business! more

I have to disagree with the previous editorial. We went to Shleifer Furniture for the first time after hearing an ad on the radio. I was pleasantly suprised at the selection...and the prices!! After selecting my style there was a whole wall of fabrics for me to choose from and my salesperson couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgable. I was quoted 6-8 weeks for my couch and it came in only 4!!!! Overall, I would have to say that I'll be shopping at Shleifer Furniture for all my rooms in the future. I recently placed a special order for a chair and was told by the salesperson that it would take 5-7 days to arrive. I phoned back a week later to check on the order only to be told that it would be another MONTH before it arrived. When I explained this is not what I was told the only response from them was 'you signed the paper saying no refunds'. Yes, I signed it after being misled and told it would only take one week to arrive. So...if you order something from this store in 'green' and it arrives in 'polka dot' you may be stuck with it because 'you signed the paper'. READ THE FINE PRINT and don't listen to the sales asscociates are my two pieces of advice when shopping at this store that obviously has a ways to go in etiquette department. more

We went to Shleifer on the recommendation of a friend and we couldn't be happier with the service we were given or the products that we purchased. The staff was friendly and the salesperson was honest. We have owned our furniture for over a year now and have not had a problem with it.
