Shag Bark Pet Retreat & Spa

We have been taking Harley (5 year old Samoyed) to Shag Bark since he was a little boy. He just loves to go to day care and play with his friend al day long. When he comes home he is so tiered after the busy day he just poops out.\r All of the workers at Shag Bark are excellent animal people that just love to see Harley for his over night stays and day care.\r I would highly recommend Shag Bark Kennel for any services you may need. more

We have been boarding and grooming our two dogs Mia and Nola here for several years. We have been extremely happy with the quality of service we have received. Our dogs are always very happy when they hear us say that they are "going to camp." The front desk staff are always extremely nice and we always feel like valued clients. It is clear that everyone who works here is an animal lover. We are also extremely happy with the grooming services here and I will not take my dogs elsewhere! I would highly recommend anyone who needs boarding/grooming services to give shag bark pet spa and Kennel a call! more

For 15 years we have been bringing our huskies to Shag Bark for grooming and boarding. We could not be more pleased with the way everyone at Shag Bark treats us and our dogs. The facility is clean, staff is friendly and our dogs are always happy and tired when they come home from a nite away! The dogs are their top priority,we always use Shag Bark for boarding and grooming. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. more

Our dogs love going to Shag Bark for the day if we are going to be gone or for boarding overnight. The staff members go out of their way to make sure that the dogs are cared for and treated well. more

Our dog loves spending time here when we go out of town. I recommend signing your dog up for the doggie daycare in addition to the overnight boarding; that way, he/she gets to play a ton during the day instead of staying in his boarding space. It is probably more cost-effective anyway, if you want your dog to be exercised and played with (without the doggie daycare, you'd have to pay for each specific add-on you'd like, such as a walk, play, exercise... and that adds up quickly). Staff has been a lot friendlier over the past couple of years than they were before and seem to really get to know your dog. We've been really pleased! My only complaint is that, although I haven't done any price comparisons to other places, every time our dog is there for a week, we spend like $400 on boarding him! I also am not a fan of the idea that if you don't add any extras (a walk, play, exercise), your dog literally stays in his/her boarding spot with the exception of potty a couple times a day. Thank you for taking such great care of Ozzee and Stella. After I picked them up on Sunday morning, they slept all day. For Stella to sleep that much, I know that she must have played hard!\r \r The facility was clean and all the people I met there were so very nice. For such great quality care, the price was great too, because I got a discount for the second dog.\r \r I will board our dogs at Shag Bark again! more

I hadn't been able to break through with any training with Dudley until this class. He didn't sit, come, stay, down or heel - Now he does- It is possible to train a very active dog! Thank you, You have been most helpful! more

Fine for boarding but I would not recommend for training if you have behavior issues, the trainer did not seem to have a clue! He did not ask any questions before assuming things that were incorrect about the dogs behavior, calls himself behaviorist when he's not a credentialed behaviorist. I did not like the training program, or the trainers methods, based on speaking with the trainer. more

Shag Bark has been in business for a long time. Originally it was run by a retired state policeman who worked canine. He trained German Shepherds. His son now does most of the training. They do a wonderful job with training the dogs.\r You can also board your dog there. It is not a totally enclosed kennel. Our dog did fine there and was well taken care of but if it was very hot or very cold I think iIwould chose somewhere else.\r Excellent for training. more
