Service Magic Inc

I find that ServiceMagic is shady in its business practices. They agree to only provide quality leads to service contractors, but in fact most leads do not pan out. They provide bogus leads that the contractor has to pay for. At times they will provide the same lead to many more service contractors then they originally agree to. They will also charge service providers for leads that are no good. As a contractor I saw that other contractors would call them to see how their service worked and they would charge me for the lead. This was in no way a quality lead. Of course I cancelled my service and now I am spreading the word about them. They will most likely remove this review but it will not matter for I will find many more outlets to let people know about them. Stay far away from ServiceMagic they are not an ethical business in any way. They also hijack the contractors business by providing a SM phone number and a SM web address which redirects traffic to their website. I would have rated them less than 1 star if I could have. more

We bought a ""fixer-upper"" a couple years ago, and since then have used Service Magic referred contractors for everything from a bathroom remodel to new hardwood floors to landscape architect to roof and concrete (and more!). In almost every instance, we met some great pros and got the work done cost effectively. I highly recommend ServiceMagic. Pros: efficient, quick call-backs Cons: may get a lot of calls more
