Birthday party @ the zoo 10/29/11 11/2/2011

Even after reading some bad reviews we decided to have our sons 4th birthday party @ the zoo and it was well worth the money we paid. All the kids agaes 1-12 where all happy and loved the aniamls they brought in for the party. Our host Natalie and Deanna where awesome with the kids and helped out w/everything. We never had to lift a finger. Was cheaper than doing chucky cheese and way more entertaining for the kids!! more

DO NOT HAVE BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE!!! 8/27/2011

The staff "personal host" was extremely rude to our guests. She did not provide any accomodations to help bring our gifts to the parking lot. She refused to let us use the wagon to pull the gifts saying it was due to health and safety regulations because the animals are transported on them then later she put our food and cake on the wagon leaving it in a hallway. She kicked our guests out of the party room stating there was another party but come to find out she lied and the party was in another room. The room was not decorated, there was no scavenger hunt at the end (all of these were included in the family package). My guests ended up serving the cake because the "hostess" was not around. If you are looking for a party that is hosted by friendly, competent individuals...this is NOT the place to have it. I am disgusted by how our guests were treated. Definitely go somewhere else. I can see why this poor zoo is starving for money....they hire animals to work there too! If they tell you that your host is named Gina....RUN! more

Excellent place to take the kids 12/2/2005

This is a very nice, expanding Zoo. The kids will love coming here. The arctic display is excellent. They have small hands on sessions with a Zoo keeper and some of the animals. Our favorite are the penguins and the polar bears! more

small park 11/7/2005

If you're looking for a day to spend at the zoo this isnt your zoo. Its a fairly small zoo, you can get done looking at all it has to offer in about an hour or so. However, It is slowly expanding and the newer parts of the zoo are great fun for the little ones. The new hands on pretend play area is wonderful, the playground area gets very busy with kids and thier laughter. We are membership holders which is great, the zoo allows us to go to most zoos in the US for free or a small fee. Its well worth the money for the membership and it offers discounts at the zoo and snack bar too. more

Fun family day 9/26/2005

There isn't a lot of animals here, but the zoo has a lot of learning stations and activities throughout the zoo. They have a nice arctic section with penguins and polar bears. The zoo looks well maintained and is a great place to go. There is a park behind the zoo that is a great place to have a picnic to make it a day out of going to the zoo. . more

Great Zoo 8/21/2005

The seneca park zoo is a great zoo. Sure it isnt the Bronx zoo but we dont live in New York City. For the Rochester area a zoo like the senca park zoo is better then expected. They have a number of different animal displayed. The admission cost is what you would expect. The exhibits and zoo is clean and well taken care of. The zoo also puts on benefit events which are a good oppurtunity to help raise money for the zoo and have a good time. more

Needs to be Bigger 8/18/2005

The Seneca Park Zoo has come a long way from my first visit 10 years ago, but for a city of this size, it need to be larger. Don't get me wrong, it's a good zoo, with lots of nice exhibits, but compared to Erie (PA) it seems very small. The Zoo does a great job of getting in "touring" exhibits, such as the black bears (which if you haven't seen, go check them out - they are pretty cool) and the warthogs (from last year). Their newest exhibit with the Mountain lions, seems to be catered to the kids with the new "up close and personal" viewing area they have (they now have a periscope kind of thing working for them). Your best bet, if you plan on going more then once, is to buy the family membership, since after two visits, it is paid for. The member ship allows you to be invited to a lot of "members only" type of events. more

Seneca Park Zoo 8/2/2005

Okay, it’s not the San Diego zoo, it’s not even the Buffalo zoo. But it’s a great place to take your kids when you are dying to get out of the house. They actually have a lot of animals – and it’s the perfect sized zoo for the younger kids. The polar bears and sea lions are always exciting to watch, and they have a learning center where the kids can pretend to be vets. It kept my little one busy for 45 minutes!! If you plan on going often, it’s worth getting the pass early on in the season. more
