I had no qualms spending my dollars here... BACK when it was Kroger. Sorry Rockford but Shnucks isn't nearly good enough of a value or service for me to waste my time there anymor...

I had no qualms spending my dollars here... BACK when it was Kroger. Sorry Rockford but Shnucks isn't nearly good enough of a value or service for me to waste my time there anymore. I will be taking my business to the Kroger store (yes everyone, you can STILL get the amazing Kroger deals, just have to be willing to drive a bit) in Sterling, IL. more

NEVER TO SHOP HERE AGAIN! 8/14/2010

Well we had shopped at Hilander for 10 years but today something we experienced will stop us from ever setting foot into this store again. My 15 yr old daughter walked into the store today carrying a tube of change she was going to exchange for dollar bills. The change was in being held in an old, empty tube of my husbands that used to hold a liquor bottle. She was stopped by the manager the minute she entered and was told to follow him upstairs. With obvious confusion and fear, she asked why - in which an answer was not given. She was brought upstairs and left to sit alone for a bit. Then my husband was brought in with police officers in which he was informed that she was trying to steal liquor. Knowing this was insane.....he asked if they had checked the container as it contained coins, not to mention that they don't even sell that brand of liquor. They continued to argue with him, even after they were proven wrong. They begrudgingly apologized to my husband who told them t more

Highlander 4/11/2008

Highlander is a grocery store. I started shopping there 2 years ago and really like it. They offer you what is called a "Highlander Plus Card", which gives discounts to the food you buy. They also sell other supplies and flowers for special occasions. more

Check your receipts for overcharges 2/15/2006

You should always check your receipts for overcharges when shopping at this Hilander. They have good sales sometimes, put the prices aren't really that good when they are overcharging you. I have contacted the store manager and the district manager and the home office about this yet I still get overcharged a lot of time and it's a pain to always have to check my receipt and then go to the customer service desk to get $$ refunded to me for the overcharges (once it was $19!!!). And the staff dosen't really seem to care. On weekends they have a lot of very young checkers and you don't see any adults supervising so the lines are even worse than other stores on the weekend. Unfortunately it's the closest grocery store to my house. more
