I starting going to Sankofa due to pain in my neck and between my shoulder blades due to a highly stressful work environment. Now that I'm in a different environment, I love to make an appointment at Sankofa as part of a virtual spa day I create for myself. I fast beforehand and after leaving I drink water, eat fresh fruits and put aside time to pray and meditate.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sankofa:
1. Superb professionalism and attention paid to the customer's entire well being
2. Obvious superiority of technical training in various massage techniques
3. Relaxing atmosphere that instantly starts to relieve stress before massage even starts
4. A variety of services available to relieve soreness from workouts, tension from stress or overzealous
stretching, etc.
5. The therapist's/owners' personal devotion to health, fitness and spiritual growth (truly, calmness and clarity of Purpose makes a difference; it's the difference between Sankofa and other places I've been...)
Really, I could go on.
When times are tough, we cut back on doing things for ourself when this is precisely the time for maintaining (or initiating) self care. If you can, I definitely recommend Sankofa for yourself. I really like the back and shoulder or the deep tissue.
Pros: Plenty of parking, nice atmosphere
Cons: I have to drive, but it's soooo worth it
