Picked up my dog from boarding her entire face has bleeding cuts all over it. When questioned the vet said that every time they would walk another dog past her cage she would slam her face on the cage. She was there for 5 days because Sunday and Monday they were closed. If someone would have called and advised of any issues we would have come home from Orlando or had family pick her up. The vet showed no concern. Wish I could post the pics to this site... They are unreal.please don't ever leave your animals in their care more

Making a comment regarding Dr. Chupp is not a task, nor a chore. Actually, in this man's opinion, it is one of the easiest and most pleasant activities which a person could ask to fulfill. Regarding the treatment she has provided for my two dogs is 'second to none'; and, that means: better than anything or anyone else! She is truly the 'kreme de la kreme', the 'cream of the crop', when it comes to veterinarians, as well as being a member of the 'best-of-the-good people of this earth' club. I would hate to think that my two little guys would not be able to receive her services as, again, she is truly the 'best of the best', having that special touch to which no one else can compare. God blessed His K-9 friends with Heidi Chupp. \r more

The vet is a bad person. I have an inside dog that is not on heartworm medication. I took the dog in for a check up. The vet proceeded to tell me heartworm medication is needed and is not an option. I told him the dog has never been on heartworm medication because he is an inside dog and I don't want to over medicate my dog. The vet told me with a blank face that my dog probably has heartworms and could be dying. The dog is perfectly healthy, but the vet scared me into getting the test done. When the test came back a vet tech opened the back room door and told me ""congratulations the test is negative"". She then told me to have a good day and closed the door. I was amazed at the ability for this group to be so money hungry and heartless. The vet should have apologized for telling me my dog was dying. Instead I got a $50 charge for the heartworm test. more

Wonderful Hospital 4/24/2012

I've been seeing Dr. McCall and Dr. Chopp for 4 years. I am so very happy when the services. Dr. McCall even met me at the clinic one day after they were closed to see my cat when he was sick. I have had both of my pets neutered by him and wouldn't go anywhere else. My dog is on special food and the doctors helped me to figure out what food he could have and couldnt have since he has allergies to some foods that make him sick. Every time I have ever called up there they have been real helpful with my questions and trying to answer and help me. If the people who answer the phone dont know they have th edoctor call me back . I have been to some oterh clinics in Jacksonville and I am much happier here than I have been with any other vet. My dog even will walk thru the door without having to be drug in!!! I totally recommend this vet to anyone looking for a doctor for their dogs or cats. more

Terrible Vet 3/28/2012

I called on 1/3/12 to verify that I could bring my cat in to be put to sleep. I dropped him off that same day. He has been going to them for years. Two days later I received a voicemail from Dr. McCall. When I called back I spoke to Amber who told me that another one of their clients wanted to adopt my cat. After mourning for two days that I had to put a member of my family down, I was flabbergasted. I asked why he wasn't put to sleep when I dropeed him off and they said the vet had just come back from vacation. No one told me that when I dropped him off so I could bring him back at a later date rahter than him live in a cage for his last days. When I asked how anther client had access to my cat they told me she was a regular customer. I told them to put him to sleep as I requested. Amber was very rude and tried to make me feel guilty by telling me that I should not put my cat to sleep if they had a home for him, like he is a stuffed animal or something. I did not make my decision to have my cat put to sleep lightly. It took 2 years to do it. I am very upset with the whole situation and cried for weeks. They told me that their ""regular customer"" has 3 dogs and they wanted the cat for their mother-in-law that lives with them. She would keep him in a single room with her and never let him out. My cat was an indoor/outdoor cat and it would be torture to lock him in a room. He would howl and go crazy trying to get outside. I explained to them (which I told them when I dropped him off) that I was having him put to sleep because he would not use his litter box the past few years and would poop all over my house. He had early stages of demetia that was causing it. I explained the reason I did not try to find him another home is that first of all he is my family and also I did not want someone to beat him or toss him out when he pooped in their house. They told me that if the mother-in-law could not handle him she could bring him back to them. I still cannot wrap my head around their reasoning to do this to someone. I can only assume that they thought it would be better to let him live, but without living with him for the past 14 years they had no right to ignore my wishes. After mourning for 2 days and learning he was still alive I had to deal with it all over again. My boyfriend and I went to the vet's office the morning after the call to verify that they did put my cat to sleep as I couldn't trust them. He had to cut open a trash bag and open my cats eyes to make sure it was him. When I asked Dr. McCall how this could happen and how did another client have access to my cat all he could say was ""I don't know"". I don't ever want another person to have to go through this terrible pain of losing a part of their family in this way. I reported him to DBPR and they told me that because my cat was eventually put to sleep that they couldn't do anything to him. What a system. more

Best Vet Around 9/15/2011

I COULD NOT BELIVE what I am reading above about Dr. McCall who has been my vet for over 25 years. He is the most GENTLE, THOUGHTFUL MAN I KNOW, and is even called the ""DOG WHISPERER"" by some of his clients because of his way with animals. If you thought him uncaring, you were misled by his very quiet, thoughtful nature. Euthanasia is never easy for the pet's owner or the doctor administering it. For me however, Dr. McCall, made a HOUSECALL FOR THE EUTHANASIA when he helped me put my animals down. HE WAS CRYING WITH ME. Emotions are always high and keep in mind it is no easier for the doctor than the owner. I am so sorry for anyone who has to go through this experience period. But, it is sometimes the right thing to do to end an animals suffering even if it causes us pain to be the one to make such a decision. \r \r I assure you, this man has a heart of gold andhas received the OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA COLLEGE OF VET MED IN 2011 for his work with training service dogs for the disabled. He takes these dogs when they are 8 weeks old and puts a year and half of his own time and money into training them and then GIVES THEM AWAY TO A HANDICAPPED PERSON. He has raised four of them.\r \r HIS PRICES ARE REASONABLE. The exam charge at San Pablo AH is $44, not $80. You should take your receipt back if that was what you paid. As for the animal license of $22, it goes straight to the City of Jacksonville, Animal Care and Control. He gets zero. DON'T BLAME HIM, BLAME THE CITY OF JAX. more

They woke up one day in a Vet office. 9/7/2011

I have gone here for 13 years and when my dog passed away dr mccall or as I call him Dr Kevorkian, was so rude and showed no compassion what so ever. He was going to examine my dog first (we thought it might be time) he spent a couple minutes and then reached in his pocket for the euthanasia shot. He said it would be two shots, he gave her one shot and she was gone. It was a horrible experience on its own but he made it memorably awful. He has always been one of the coldest people I have ever come across in life. He seems confused when he examines your pet, as if he just woke up in a veterinarians office. When we got a new puppy we made an appt with Dr Chupp, who is the ONLY reason we stayed with them for so long, they made a mistake at the front desk and we got Dr Kevorkian who came in, acted like he didn't know us and asked ""where'd ya get this one?"" and was just plain weird. Even still we stayed with them, too busy to find a new vet. Just recently we took in our puppy for a grooming (our minature Schnauzer) and they completly shaved her. We said the usual and for some reason after bringing a schnauzer there for 13 years and getting the traditional schnauzer cut, they shaved her. I Brushed her for months, trying to get her coat nice and healthy, and they shave her, and she had a cut on her private areas, up all night licking herself and trying to ""run away"" from her self, in pain. We are finally getting a new vet, those people are just too weird and don't seem to know what the hell they are doing. Why would I want my pure bread Mini Schnauzer completly shaved? Weird.\r The only good thing is there is a very nice lady at the front desk and Dr Chupp is wonderful, when our dog was sick she really took care and always called us back and remembered us. REALLY wish she could have been the one to put our baby girl down :(\r Its just an odd place, with odd people.\r Only gave an extra star for Dr Chupp, wish she'd go else where. more

Do Not Go Here!!!! 7/8/2011

If you like to wait 30 minutes when no-one is there for a 5 minute exam, and you like to be over charged for services, this is the place for you. I was even charged $22 for a replacement license that only costs $6!! over $50 for a heartworm test, and $80 for an exam! As a former Vet Tech, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! more
