I tried to go here the other day - and apparently it has closed down! :( more

Great for takeout! 11/21/2007

We have been to Saltimbocca several times (close to our house) and we love it for take-out. They're doing a take-out service where they bring it to your car, which is great, especially when I have the kids. I also tried their online ordering this week and it worked great. The people who work in the front are always nice and helpful. It's become one of our new favorite quick places. more

OK Spot! 10/10/2007

I was expecting more from this small friendly restaurant. Service was prompt and the gal was very friendly. However, when my order of Chicken Saltimboca arrived, the plate was swimming in watery stuff. Like the pasta had not been drained enough. Off to a rough start. more

Tastes homemade 8/31/2007

Overall, we had a really good experience here. I'm an excellent cook but would say the food was as good, if not better, than some of the Italian fare I've made at home. Average dish price is about $7, but we didn't think that was any more or less than some other neighborhood establishments that have similar themes (Barbacoa, Pei Wei). We also ordered the Tiramisu and I'd have to say it's the best I've had in Salt Lake. The staff was also very friendly. Pros: Delicious dish and snappy service Cons: Only open til 9pm more

Casual italian = fast food? 8/23/2007

My husband and myself were very surprised that we ordered at the register off the board on the wall instead of an actual menu. 2 meals and 1 dessert, $20. Our meals came out quickly but that was the only thing worth noting. The 5 cheese penne was bland but edible. My husband ate a few bites from his chicken parm but decided that it wasnt worth the calories, even though he was very hungry. The famous raspberry bread pudding was nothing more than a slightly sweetened warm sponge. Next time we want italian fast food we'll go to fazoli's, at least there we get bread. Pros: empty = tons of seating, good service Cons: food, price more

Needed something quick and yummy -- score!! 6/15/2007

I thought I'd have to settle for Wendy's as I was in a hurry, then I remembered reviews I'd seen for Saltimbocca. Whew!! I will never settle for ""typical"" fast food again. I asked the counter girl for a recommendation between two items, and she steered me to the five-cheese penne dish, and I was very pleased with it. It came with a salad, which was the deciding factor for me (though there is a side salad on the menu for entrees that don't come with one). The only recommendation I would make is that for their dishes marked ""vegetarian,"" putting sausage slices in the salad kind of negates the ""veggie"" rating. The pasta dish was quite yummy, piping hot, and filling. I will definitely go again! Pros: Good, fast, reasonably priced Italian more

It's ok, it could be better 6/8/2007

So my group of friends have been there three times since they've been open. We keep going back to see if the place improves. The food is ok but could be a tad better for the price. We really wish they would include a breadstick or two with your entree. As their menu stands now, they should knock a buck off everything for what one gets with the entree. The people are good and they're trying really hard. We would really like to see this place succeed. Pros: Good Location, nothing else like it in the area Cons: A bit overpriced for what it is more

Great lunch spot 4/4/2007

This restaurant is a bit hard to find, but worth it. I was there at noon and it wasn't crazy busy and noisy. The staff was pleasant and offered some tasty suggestions. I went with the 5 cheese baked penne and it was really great. The top was crispy from the broiler and the flavor was excellent. The atmosphere isn't anything special, but it was nice to be able to sit across the table and have a conversation (no loud background music interferring). The prices were really reasonable and I plan on returning again in the future. Pros: Inexpensive, casual, quiet Cons: Toasty bread was not included with meal, had to order separately more

Great Italian dishes and awesome desserts 3/8/2007

My husband and I are from the East Coast and have been eating real Italian food our whole lives. Saltimbocca is as good as our favorite quick Italian restaurants back home. They have great pesto and the chicken saltimbocca is awesome (my husband's favorite is the chicken marsala). Also, we had the best cannoli in years over there and the raspberry bread pudding is a must! Pros: good food, great prices Cons: hard to find more

it is closed 3/7/2007

went by 2/20/2008 and it is gone. signs say for lease but all tables/chairs even flowers still in space Pros: was good Cons: closed more

Not great 2/27/2007

We are always excited to see a new restaurant in our area but were very disappointed when we ate dinner with our friends at Saltimbocca. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo which really lacked flavor. I also ordered the homemade chocolate pudding which was a mess. The flavor was very bitter, the pudding was runny. The top of the pudding had a tough skin which can easily be avoided by covering pudding with plastic wrap. Pros: Quick, less expensive Cons: terrible food more

Awesome chicken parmesean and great atmosphere! 2/17/2007

We tried Saltimbocca for the first time last week and were pleasantly surprised to find such a great casual Italian establishment in Salt Lake (for once!). SLC is lacking a little in the real Italian food category and this place is the real deal. It had the best chicken parmesean and cannoli I've ever had. In addition, the girls who work the front counter are very friendly and the atmosphere is laid-back and inviting. We're already planning on going again toinight. Pros: Great food, tastes very homemade; helpful staff Cons: Difficult to find parking (it's in the back) more

Disappointing 2/15/2007

I ordered the Pasta Siciliana and the Cheese Lasagna to go, just to try a couple of different things. I guess some pastas come with salad and some don't, anyway the caesar salad that came with the lasagna was put into the same container as the hot food. By the time I got home the salad was so wilted it could have been soup. The lasagna was okay, but not great. It looked like something from a TV dinner. The tomato sauce was thick and gloppy (straight out of a can?) The Pasta Siciliana was about the same, not much flavor, not much sausage, or anything else. The food was better than other places (i.e.Fazoli's), but nothing to rave about or make me want to go back. The people who wrote great reviews about this place are probably the same people who think that Buca de Beppo has good food also. more

Distinguished Italian 1/8/2007

To start this review I must qualify myself as a connoisseur of good food. Pros: service, value, fresh and made to order Cons: Blink and you may miss it. more

Deeeeeelicious Italian Food 12/13/2006

The food is prepared fresh, daily! The service is quick and very friendly. The taste of every dish is very desirable. It can be a quick eat and dash opportunity, or it can be a long relaxing dining experience. The price is perfect. And to wrap it up, you have to try the raspberry bread pudding. Pros: Need I add anymore? more

SALTIMBOCCA =LOVE 12/13/2006

The food here is amazing! Its sort of a little secret for people not farmiliar with just how the word saltimbocca rings music in the ears of those who know real Northern Italian! LOVE this place! There is not an enormous wait either thankfully (not yet). I will never never never return to noodles&c up the street....price is better and they have bread pudding!! Only thing missing is a strong coffee for that bread pudding! =( mm....mmmm! Pros: Lasagna Rolls,5 Ches Penne,Saltimbocca, Bread Pudding um pretty much everything Cons: needs some italiano coffee Si! possibly wine Si! more

Fast, quality Italian 12/11/2006

I've been waiting for a casual Italian restaurant like this one. The Chicken Parmigiana and the Lasagna Rolls were tasty and reasonably priced. The house salad is great. You can tell this place uses high quality ingredients and cares about the details of the food, like fresh herbs in the Alfredo sauce. Yet, it doesn't feel like a stuffy Italian restaurant; it is a modern-feeling but comfortable place where you can go eat good food and hang out with your friends(or even with your family). ;-) If you want a new place to frequent, try out Saltimbocca-- it is one of our new favorite restaurants! Pros: quick tasty food, almost everything is reasonably priced, service is good, parking is not a problem, good for groups, and for smaller parties Cons: new restaurant still slightly on their opening-up learning curve, but other than that, there don't seem to be any cons to Saltimbocca! more

try the panini 12/11/2006

Far more like a full service restaurant than quick service, both in terms of food and atmosphere. Great service and great food...try the house salad, the fried mozzarella, and the proscuitto/mozzarella panini and the raspberry bread pudding; those are my favorites so far. Pros: freshly prepared food at a very reasonable cost, great service Cons: closes at 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! more

Great food and service! 12/11/2006

The service is great. We are always greeted with a smile and a visit from the cook. The food is amazing! I havent had anything there that I havent loved, especially the desserts! Great atmosphere for a casual, fun place to have a meal. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Great Affordable Food more
