I have been to Salon Lechene several times. Each time I have had Anna as my stylist. She listens well to what you want and offers recommendations. Her cut really made my hair look thicker. I am very pleased. She also did a fabulous job coloring my hair and adding highlights and low lights. It looks so natural. The products she suggested for my hair have really helped make it easier for me to style as well as made my hair healthier. She goes out of her way to make sure you are satisfied. I am very impressed with this salon and with Anna. more

Chhalin is awesome! She has been our family's hairdresser for the past 6 years before she came to Salon Lechene. She has given my daughter and I all sorts of highlights and hair cuts from long/short layers to a pixie cut and we have always been impressed! My husband goes to her once a week to get a fresh cut/look and refuses to visit anyone else! Our family wouldn't know what to do without her! Thanks Chhalin! more

LOVE MY HAIR!!! Chhalin gave me an amazing asymmetrical bob! In the past, I've gone to different stylists showing them pictures and it never came out right. I visited Salon Lechene for the first time because a coworker came into work with an amazing cut and I had to ask who her stylist was. I was scared at first to try a new hair stylist but I don't regret it one bit! I'll be going to Chhalin from now on. Not only did she give me a great stylish cut but it's so low maintenance in the mornings...and, the soft layers that frame my face, LOVE IT!!! more

Pleasantly surprised! 1/4/2012

I just moved from Seattle. My old hairstylist was AMAZING...(only after he did my hair) I would be bombarded with whistles and the like. :) As you can imagine, I didn't think anyone would match up to him. Fortunately, I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!! Mary knows what she's doing. I like how she listens to what you want and caters to what is practical to you. At the same time, she gently throws in her suggestions/ideas, without being pushy. She cut my hair dry..(a sign of a good stylist). Then styled it into a beautiful hair concoction. :) The haircut she gave me is perfect for my face shape/hair texture. Also, she made/showed suggestions of how to put my hair up and style it. Also, did I mention, she's a pleasant, intelligent person to talk to! It's a nice bonus. I almost don't want to write a good review because I want her to be my secret fabulous hair stylist haha. :) more

Best haircut I ever had! 2/9/2011

This is absolutley the best haircut I have ever had. Mary is so caring and really listens to what you want. I was not used to having someone cut my hair dry (she assured me we would wash it when she was done) but I believe this is at least part of what made a difference! Once she explained why she was doing this, it made perfect sense. There are parts of my hair that tend to flip up (which I hate) and she would not be able to see those parts if my hair was wet. Mary is all about helping you get a style that flows with the way your hair grows, rather than just chopping away and then styling it her own way when she's done. How many times have you had a haircut that looked good when you left the salon, only to get home and not be able to duplicate it, or to find out that there are pieces that are not even but the stylist managed to hide that during the blowdry process. It has been almost 3 weeks now since my cut, and I have not had one ""bad hair day"" since! Thank you Mary for your kindness and for sharing your talents with those of us who so desperately need them! more

You will leave there feeling and looking GREAT! 2/1/2011

Been in Raleigh for 5 years. I DREADED finding a new hair stylist. First place was a disaster, second place was so-so, third place was ok, 4th place was good but out of my way...Then by luck after over-spending for hair cuts that I either hated or was somewhat satisified...I found Hair By Mary. Just picked her out of the phonebook. Mary: 1) knows her stuff from Cut, Color, new techniques, great product 2) Constantly offers advise, help, and great pointers 3) is respectable about YOUR time 4) Very competitive 5) Innovative 6) Fun to go to 7) My mom is jealous that she doesn't live here and can't go to her. 8) and Honest...always will do what makes you look your best and will tell you if your ideas just might not work. 9) If you bring a picture of a style you like....you leave there with your hair looking like that style. 10) She listens Give her a try, you will love her. more

Wouldn't Trust My Hair to Anyone but Mary 2/1/2011

I moved to Raleigh about 3.5 years ago. I went through about 3 different hair dressers before I found Mary. I went to Mary in December 2007 with what was beginning to look like a mullet (not cool). I have curly hair. All you curly girls know we need a hair stylist who knows what they're doing with our curls. I think that's what I love most about Mary...she understands my curl. more

Wonderful experience 9/22/2010

I was skeptical after reading some of the bad reviews and because I am very picky when it comes to my hair but Mary ended up knowing her stuff and gave me a great new do! I love the makeover concept because that's exactly what I needed! She listened to my ideas and mixed them with her own for an amazing product. I definitely will be returning and recommend her services to others. more

I feel gorgeous. . .like I belong in a magazine! 11/30/2009

I heard about Mary through some ladies that I work with. Impressed by the makeovers my colleagues received, I had Mary work her magic on my hair. Wow! What a difference! I didn't know that I could look this good. I really feel like I stepped off the page of a magazine or something. Anyway, I am so glad to have finally found a look that works so well for me and my styling ability. Pros: great stylist! knows how to bring out your best Cons: I don't know of any more

Worst Hair Cut I've Ever Had 5/1/2009

Mary gave me a haircut that resembles a mullet- i left her salon looking a lot worse then when i arrived. My hair was long and she was going to take 2 inches off of the bottom and ended up taking off twice that amount to adapt to the layering she did which was too short and looks terrible- this is feedback that i've gotten from everyone that's seen my hair (not a fun week). This is the typical nightmare that most women have about a hair stylist- i would not let her near my hair with a pair of scissors again. Beware of the previous reviews (many of the dates seem contrived and in response to the bad reviews posted). more

Saving Grace... 3/4/2009

The first time I called Mary (who was recommended by my boss) I needed an appointment for the next day, which she was able to do by fitting me in during off hours. I came in a bleached out mess and was desperate for someone to fix the damage done by an EVIL hairdresser. She listened and talked with me about what I wanted (because I didn?t know exactly) and was able to come up something FABOULOUS! She showed me how to style my hair at home and also some alternative looks. Mary is a truly talented stylist and colorist, and has an amazing personality to match. She made me look gorgeous; and I have gotten so many compliments. She is truly talented at what she does! Thank you Mary! Pros: Talented, warm & professional Cons: Didn't find her sooner!!! more

I Would Give Her 10 Stars If I Could... 4/13/2008

MARY is by far THE BEST HAIRSTYLIST I have ever been to. She has a great talent for seeing what your hair will look like before she even starts the first cut. I never have to over-explain what I want, or worry that I will be disappointed -- because Mary always provides perfection. Plus she understands that her clients live in the real world, and that we don't have time to style and blow-dry our hair every day. So she makes it so that I don't have to fuss with my hair for it to look good... I'm basically stylin by the time I step out of the shower. Not only is she great behind a pair of scissors, she also has an exceptional personality and she's totally adorable!!! I took my girlfriend to get her hair cut by Mary, too, and she agrees :D We love love love! Mary! Pros: Expert Skill, Courteous, Professional, Super Charming, Fiery, and Totally Sweet more

The best hairstylist EVER! 2/2/2008

Mary has been the greatest thing to happen to me since moving to the area. My daughter set up the appointment, then sent me an email the day before, so that I could not back out at the last minute. I am the type of person that comes home and washes/redoes whatever haircut I have received. Mary asked me what I wanted and honestly I gave her free reign. I am thrilled with what she has done to my hair. It is never in a ponytail anymore, always styled, and its EASY. She made sure that I knew how to take care of it and make it look almost as good as she does. Mary is a GREAT person too and very easy to talk to. more

very good experience 1/30/2008

I have had my hair cut by numerous people in the 15 years that I've lived in the Triangle, and have not been truly pleased until seeing Mary last week. She was very accomodating to my busy schedule, working me in during off-hours. She was fun to talk to, and her price for a cut was very reasonable for the 1 1/2 hours she spent on me. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but she made a wonderful recommendation, and everyone tells me that I look younger. She is great to talk to and spent a long time making sure I felt comfortable recreating the same look at home. She also showed me several different techniques for achieving other looks. I will definitely be returning to Mary and would recommend her to my friends! Pros: stylish and reasonably priced cut, friendly stylist who listens to you Cons: an hour from my house (but worth the drive)! more

EXCELLCENT CUSTOMER CARE, she cares about what YOU want in a hair cut and color 1/27/2008

Many stylists no matter what you tell them do what they want anyway, Mary, will do what you want for your hair and color, when she colors my hair or cuts my hair it comes out perfectly, there have been times when I wanted a different look but did not know what and told her to do what she thought would look good, every time it comes out GREAT! She also uses products that are more natural with less chemicals and are less irritating to the scalp. I would recommend her to anyone and have recommended her many times. Pros: Mary is great Cons: she is in Cary, I am in Raleigh more

She has cut and colored my hair too--and she's awesome. I trust her completely and from what i'm reading of most of the reviews, so do a lot of people. more
