Great Spa for wax services 4/13/2010

This is the ONLY location I will go in Mpls/St. Paul for a Brazillian wax. Michelle is wonderful and treats people with respect and dignity. You don't have to be embaressed there; she makes you feel comfortable. Does a thorough job on the service. I'll continue to go back. Have been going for over a year now. more

Wonderful!!!! 2/24/2009

I have frequented the salon for you for a few years and have never had a bad experience! The massages are wonderful, the Spa is warm and cozy and if you come with your significant other like I did recently, you get a tray of fruit and chocolate (very unexpected) :) My boyfriend is not a fan of going to the spa and told me that he wont go any where else for massages! We had a great day there and will recommend the salon to friends and family. The haircuts I have received have always been easy to duplicate at home and the product recommended for me really works for my hair. Most recently I had a facial and my skin felt so great afterwards. This is the place to treat yourself even in these hard times. Pros: parking lot across the street, friendly and smart staff Cons: still under construction so it seems a little dirty more

Dirty salon & horrible service!! 12/29/2008

I went to this Salon because I had a coupon for a free cut... The "stylist" I ended up with was the worst I've ever been to. She was not helpful at all, she didn't seem to know anything about products or anything else for that matter, when I got there, she told me that ALL clients have to change out of their clothes and into robes and flip flops & pointed me down a strange looking hallway-she didn't even tell me where I was going~ I thought that was very weird & should've left then-I was there for a haircut and had knee-high boots on-I was not planning on taking my socks & shoes off for a haircut!! I came in with shoulder length hair and asked for a trim and to have it thinned out a little. What I ended up with was chin length hair that looked like a 5 year old cut it. She kept asking me if I thought the layers were even!! I am not a stylist & had no idea the damage she was doing... my hair is very thick and has some wave in it so I use a straightener--this stylist used a hair dryer and sent me on my way with frizzy, unstyled hair!! I had to cancel plans with a girlfriend I was supposed to meet after my cut, I was so embarassed! The receptionist was also shockingly rude when I checked out... I called the manager because my hair was such a mess. She was very scripted and insincere. She tried to put me off until the following week! I insisted that she fix my hair and she told me that I had to be there by a certain time or she couldn't do anything for me and made it very clear that it was after hours & inconvenient for her. She never once apologized for my experience, she made excuses for the stylist, which I then found out was a new apprentice that didn't really have any experience (I think clients should be told when they are seeing an apprentice). She cut my hair, and when she was done, had the nerve to tell me that she didn't think the style suited me at all...she recommended shoulder length hair! Funny...that's what I had when I started! I will never go back!! Pros: None that have anything to do with the salon... the neighborhood looks nice... Cons: Management, stylist, receptionist, dirty looking/feeling salon, all around gross place. more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! 7/26/2008

This salon was DIRTY! the people are very unprofessional. The owner talks to you as if you were a little child. There are cobwebs all over. The robe they made me put on was dirty and had massage oil on it and was wet so I know it was used right before me without being washed. I don't even want to talk about the bed shhets on the massage table! The hair cut i recieved wasn't even and then when i came back so wanted me to pay again to even it out. The employees look like they just rolled out of bed and weren't very into what they were doing. also i was told she, the owner does not pay her employees appropriately. JUST DON"T GO HERE!!!!!! IT IS GROSS AND THE PRICES ARE TO HIGH FOR WHAT YOU GET!!!!!!!!! Pros: Theres always open appointments since they don't have any clients that come back Cons: EVERYTHING!! It's dirty, prices are to high for what you get, the services are not good more

Overpriced and Overrated 12/3/2007

Living by the salon for a year, I was hounded on a regular basis by employees that the owner had walking the streets. Many people in the area would go out of thier way to not walk by the business because of that, very uncomforable when all you want to do is take a nice quiet walk. I received a pedicure just to see if the hype they give out was worth it. $65 to trim, scrub, and paint my toes in a dim room ,where when you walk out, a student at Saint Paul College could do a better job. Nothing special about it at all. For a overpriced salon, the employees, especially the front desk worker, should look a little more professional and there shouldnt be cobwebs, leaves, and dirt all over the front of the salon. Very dirty and dissatisfing. Pros: none Cons: Overpriced, Dirty more

Brazillian wax 6/29/2007

I have seen the owner at Salon For You twice now for a Brazillian wax and she makes you feel extremely comfortable. She's quick and dirty as she likes to say and she understands how humiliating the experience can be if you're not confident with yourself or your body. The results of the wax have been great both times, and I'll continue to go back every 10-12 weeks or so. Pricing is good compared to others in the Cities but I'm also paying for the service and how I never feel embarassed or weird when I'm there. Pros: convenience, pricing, easy scheduling, no pressure, service Cons: parking can be a hassle sometimes more

Always a good experience 5/19/2007

I have been to the Salon a number of times over the last few months times and always had a good experience. A bunch of 50% off coupons were dropped off where I worked so I thought I would go in for a massage. I definitely would have paid full price! As I was led to the changing room, a hairstylist said she had some free time and "would I like to get my hair complimentary shampooed and styled?"' I had planned to get my hair cut the following week but I'm one to live for the moment. She had time to cut my hair and I walked out of there feeling like a new person ( and only spending $87...with tip!!!) The staff is always friendly and they remembered me after only one visit! I never had that happen at any of the snootier chain salons I had been to before. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Pros: parking lot across street, casual atmosphere more

Terrible place 4/13/2007

I worked for the Salon for you and so can verify what an awful place it is. All massages are cut short. If you pay for an hour chances are you will get about 45 minutes. We were never scheduled time to get ready for our next appointment. So things such as changing the sheets and everything else was done during the paying customers time. All this leads to every appointment running late. Nothing there is ever ontime!! It seems as though the place is understaffed but really the owner is just really greedy and overbooks appointments and then pays minimum pay for all those who work for her. There have always been a lot of unsatisified costumers. There are a lot of other salons in the area that are worth checking out and more than likely way cheaper! more

Whatever........ 3/15/2007

I have given this salon two chances, since it is close to my house, and I won't go back. My first experience was a massage, which turned out to be about as good as my boyfriend's........the second was a pedicure. I wanted to treat my girlfriend to a pedicure for her b-day. I made an appointment for both of us on a Sat. Needless to say, they were unprepared, rushed and overpriced. Half-way through our dual pedicure another worker came in to help out the one lady that was switching off between us. No foot massage even! $130 later, my friend and I walked out dissatisfied and broke! Whatever......better luck next time I guess. Pros: Location, if you live near Cathedral Hill Cons: Value, overpriced for what service you get more

My worst experiences ever! 1/3/2007

I have had 2 terrible experiences at this salon. The reason I went to this salon was because my friends at work had given me a gift certificate as a going away present just before my baby was born. They chose Salon 4 You because it was so close to my house. Two weeks after the birth I went in for a much needed cut and color. One of the owners cut and colored my hair. The color was much darker than I asked for it to be, and she barely dried my hair and didn't style it at all! When I pointed out the dark color, she told me not to worry because it would fade in a couple of days. (It didn't!) I felt worse when I left than I had when I came in! I went home and cried. The gift certificate was for more than my services cost and she gave me a certificate for the difference. That was 3 or 4 years ago. I have not had the courage to return for a service to use the rest of the gift certificate. However, leading up to Christmas I needed an eyebrow wax. Since funds were tight I decided to go to The Salon for You. I had them waxed and they looked OK. However, when I went to pay, I was told my gift certificate would not be accepted! THERE WAS NO EXPIRATION DATE, but they said they wouldn't take it! I was SHOCKED and embarassed! I was angry and didn't know what to say, especially since I was hesitant to go there in the first place! I payed with my own money because I just wanted to get out of there. When I got home I told my husband what happend. He of course was as angry as I was so he walked the 2 blocks to talk to them. He asked to speak with the owner but had to settle for a phone call later because she was in with a client. When she called him later, she stood by what I had been told and even refused to refund my $18 and just call us even. So along with the $45.00 gift certificate they took away from me they also got and additional $18.00... A $63.00 EYEBROW WAX!!!! Having had the 2 worst salon experiences of my life it is safe to say I will never set foot in there again! Cons: Parking, Customer Service, Completion of Services more

Loved It!! 7/8/2005

The day prior to my wedding I went to The Salon For You and had about 5 different services performed... all of them were SO relaxing, even though it was a busy day for the Salon I the staff made me feel like I was their only customer, and recieved the full amount of time for all of my services. I have been to several spa/salons and I would highly recommend the salon to anyone and will go back again! The Salon really helped me to relax through my stressful wedding weekend. Pros: Reasonable pricing, personal attention, variety of services more

I Love It 6/20/2005

I've been going to the Salon For You for a couple years. The owners are terrific. They really get to know their clients and offer up wonderful suggestions to make you feel and look great. Their prices are very reasonable and if you get there early you might get a bonus shoulder massage while you wait!! I'll never go anywhere else. more

Nirvana in the city 7/30/2002

Everything you need in a calm, relaxing atmosphere in a convenient location in St Paul. I have wonderful facials (try the hour and a half), scalp massages, salt rubs and more. Any treatment I have ever wanted for the body and mind is here and the staff will accomodate all needs. The waxing is fantastic...more than one type available which is rare these days. Try the hot (thick) wax for all over thoroughness and minimal irriation. And they do packages...for events! Pros: Up to date treatments, Wonderful staff, Open Sunday Cons: Not cheap more
