Underground Sushi Unite! 4/25/2006

This place is awesome. It's ambienance reveals itself through the descention of a stairwell and the greetings of the one and only Ryoko, a classic SF character! It's genuinely hospitable and kitchy without the smarmy pretense. For example, I am not a fan of DJ culture, but somehow the dj here is a great touch just doing his thing behind the turntables and not trying to overwhelm the place with his found sounds. Oh yeah, and the sushi... ask the chef to make you what he's feeling that evening and you won't be dissappointed. more

A japanese cheers 5/26/2004

so the other day the sushi chef says to me, ""Logan - everyone orders the same stuff - I'm an artist let me create something for you"" And I let him do it and it was good. For the adventerous try the jumping sushi and the tuna wraps - for the daring hand over your credit card and tell them to go wild. It's an exquisite japanese culinary rollercoster that will take your tongue for a wid ride... Pros: Great Food, Funky Ambience, Warm Staff more

A hidden jewel... 9/9/2003

Smiling, straightfoward, unpretentious, warm, inviting. Fresh fish, expert chef, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. This place deserves only the nicest of people to patronize it. Truly. Because it has such a generous, family type feel. I've seen them help you out the door if you've had to much to drink, send you home with a little hangover cure for the morning, recommend only what's the freshest that day... Ryoko is a very special place. more

Ryoko's rocks! 7/31/2002

Ryoko's is a great place to go, especially for late-night sushi as they're open until 1 or 2ish nightly. Super-friendly service, great prices for the yummy food, and a cool atmosphere to boot make it one of my favorite spots. There's live jazz occasionally; if not they've always got some ultra-hip tunes playing in the background. The one night my friends and I got there too late (they'd just closed their doors), the awesome owner Yoshi brought us out some free edamame. Arigato!! Pros: food, service, atmosphere more
