What a Rip-Off. We went there with a groupon coupon for $29. Ryan didn't let us on the promise without paying $40 ""gratitude"" in advance! So we had to pay $69 altogether. The Website said the ""Romantic Ride with Wine"" consists of 30 Minutes bonding with the horses and a 1 hour ride. OK we started ""bonding"" which was totally unnecessary because I can ride a horse and the bonding of my wife let to the horse completely ignoring her commands. Ryan saw that my wife was not so good in horse riding, so after the bonding he decided to take a steep hill right after we left the barn. My wife was scared. Then he wanted to led us down the hill and because the horse of my wife didn't react to her commands, she was terrified. So she had to get of the horse and had to walk down the hill. That was after 10 minutes of riding. Ryan led us back to the barn. I asked him what now? He said the time was up. Just 40 minutes had passed since he had us start the useless “bonding”! He said the whole thing was only 1 hour and 50 minutes have passed. He could do some bonding for the remaining 10 minutes. When I offered that my wife leaves the premise and at least I can ride the remaining time he said I have 5 minutes left, very unfriendly. He showed no sign of service, I even think, he did that hill ride on purpose to get rid of us! We rode several times before and all those rides where great, even without this bonding! Ryan stole our time, our fun and our money! Taking Gratitude in advance is a cheek and: on the groupon he is asking 18% from the original price of $199. That's $36 and not $40. So I have to strongly advise you: DON'T GO THERE! SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE! more

Scam Artist...\r \r We purchased 4 ""Harmony N Horsemanship: One-Hour Riding Lesson and One-Hour Trail Ride"" vouchers from Half-Off Depot for $20 each in April. When scheduling our ride, Ryan Garner stated, ""There is a MANDATORY 18% GRATUITY based on the Retail Value of each voucher."" I told him that a gratuity is something given voluntarily based on receiving good service, not a ""FEE"" charged before the service is even provided.\r \r Then I told him our vouchers didn't say anything about a mandatory gratuity and he said, ""It's there in the fine print."" I said our vouchers state ""Gratuity not included"", but nothing about additional MANDATORY fees. He said, ""Well I told them it had to say that."" I said we weren't paying an additional $18 per voucher when we already purchased the vouchers for $20 each. He said, ""I guess you'll have to get a refund from Half-Off Depot then.""\r \r What a complete scam! more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Beside the fact that it took over a month for a representative to call me back, once I finally did receive that call, the gentlemen was extremely rude. He did not have any concern with the fact that I have been contacting them over a month (phone and email), and told me that they will run their office as they please. This goes without saying that I would never refer anyone to their horseback services. more

My boyfriend and I went on the hour long Romantic Couples ride with wine at the end. The sunset was beautiful and we had a really great experience. Ryan was really nice and passionate about his work. My husband and I used a Travelzoo coupon this past weekend and had a fabulous experience. The 1 hours experience was the perfect amount and we got to tour the grounds of their new location which has breathtaking views. The horses were well trained rescues and I cannot think of one negative aspect about the day. We are looking forward to going again in the fall! more

Worse Than Terrible - HATE TO GIVE 1 STAR BUT FORCED BY SITE 4/23/2012

I took my horse to this ""so called"" horse trainer (NOT) more like SCAM ARTIST for some very specific problems that I had throughly discussed with him and he assurred me that he could correct the problems (correcting problems was his speciality) more like causeing problems was his specilaity) if I left my horse with him for 90 days. Upon accepting my horse at one barn, the barn owner kicked him out and he moved to a new barn (2 hours away). He did not even own or have use of a horse trailer to move his own horses much less the couple of horses he was supposedly training. I had to help him move as well as another person who had his horse with him (a smarter man who took his horse away the next week). I went every weekend to visit my horse to ride and see how things were progressing) I did not see progress with him and during this 60 days and at that point this CON MAN wanted to start charging more to show me what my horse had NOT learned. My horse lost over 350 pounds and looked horrible it literally broke my heart. My horse had always been stalled or out in his own turnout, This jerk decided to put him out with other horses that kicked him, bite him and left some nasty scars on him. Not long after being at barn #2 he was thrown out of that barn and as they say....ON THE ROAD again. Needless to say I brought my horse home at that point and took a loss on the money, and have spent the last 10 months putting weight back on my horse and building back the trust we had before he was tortured by this hoodlum. DO NOT TAKE YOUR HORSE, YOUR PERSON or YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS FRAUD! more

Terrible 2/20/2012

I purchased the Travelzoo coupon for $29 for a ""1 hour trail ride."" First of all, I would never get back on any of those horses ever again. When one guy tried to get on a horse, it freaked out and just about trampled the owner. That same guy got knocked off the horse on the trail ride, the horse went nuts and started running, all of the other horses got spooked and the horse my girlfriend was on took off running back to the barn with her still on it. Luckily she was able to get off eventually before it knocked her off. The owner told everyone to get down off their horses and we started walking them back to the barn. He didn't seem too concerned that we were still missing one person (my girlfriend). A few minutes later she comes walking through the woods and the owner yells, ""Where is my horse?"" Shows you how concerned he is with the safety of his customers. We get back to the barn and he is slamming gates and is very upset with all of us for getting his horses worked up. He even complained that now he has to work with them for 20 minutes to cool them down before his next group of unsuspecting victims shows up. I thought it was strange that he kept saying before we began riding that some people say that his horses get spooked easily but ""obviously they don't know my horses."" Now I know why some people say that. I end up asking him for a partial refund because we were promised a 1 hour trail ride but all we got was a 5 minute ride through the woods, a few minutes of terror, and a ten minute walk back to the barn. He said that he does not give refunds and it is not his responsibility if someone loses their balance and falls off the horse. I told him that maybe he should warn people ahead of time that these horses are not for beginner riders. He then starts getting very defensive and yelling at and threatening me and my girlfriend to get off his property. Terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend Harmony Natural Horsemanship or Ryan Garner to anyone. more

Do not waste your time 1/11/2012

Ryan Garner was unprofessional and rude during phone conversation, he wanted to know just what didn't I understand about online booking. Against my better judgment, I did book online about 1week in advance and had email confirmation. I drove over an hour, with 2 excited teens, to be told by Ryan that he had no record of any lessons booked and no time to do it. No apologies, no explanation-nothing. He stated this was a weekly occurrence. Obviously, he is the one with difficultly booking online. more

Doesn't treat customers well 12/29/2011

My daughter started taking lessons from Ryan last spring until she broke her arm in June. We had a $100 credit for lessons. By the time the doctor gave his okay for her to start riding again, she had lost interest, so I asked Ryan if I could take the lessons instead, which he said I could do. When I had my first lesson at the end of September, I paid an extra $40 to get a package deal for three one hour lessons. The first two lessons were fine, but Ryan canceled on me last minute for the last lesson. We rescheduled, but I found out I had to work that day. I sent several e-mails and left several phone messages to try to reschedule. I finally heard from Ryan and he told me to schedule online. He was booked for the entire month of November. I decided to wait a couple of weeks and try to schedule something in December. When I went online to reschedule, the computer wouldn't let me and when I e-mailed Ryan Garner he sent me a very nasty e-mail telling me I had waited too long and I couldn't have my money back or a lesson and if I wanted a lesson I had to pay him again. You have to be kidding me! Like I could help it that my daughter broke her arm or that Ryan cancelled my lesson or that he was so overbooked that I couldn't schedule another lesson! This guy does not treat his customers well! more

Scam Artist 10/21/2011

Well after reading the other reviews here, I really wish I had thought to research this business before purchasing a voucher from ""Half Off Depot"" for a riding lesson and trail ride. I too like many others here have not been able to get this business to respond to phone messages left or emails sent, regarding booking my lesson. I then thought I had finally got a booking by using the business's online scheduling tool and received a confirmation via email only to have that appt cancelled 2 days later with no explanation, apology or offer of an alternative day. So I will be seeking a refund from Half Off this coming Monday. more

Don't Book A Ride! 10/21/2011

I bought an online facebook deal in July. When I tried to book online, everything was booked until October. I received a confusing email several weeks ago asking me to reschedule my booking. I have called several times, sent emails and received no response. I am not willing to make the trip without confirmation. I would not recommend this business to anyone! more

We had the best time of our lives- We are starting lessons 7/9/2011

My wife and I had a great time, we really enjoyed ourselves. We purchased the facebook two hour deal and was able to use it last Saturday. We met another couple while we were there and we all got along great, We upgraded our ride to the romance package and were able to enjoy a picnic down by the river, on the backwoods trail. We were treated like vip's and we just loved the horses, Ryan, and the great time that we had the chance to experience, we are seriously thinking about joining Ryan's Equestrian Club and making harmony our permanent horses home. I am planning on moving sonny our 4 year old quarter horse for training with Ryan, and I myself I am taking advantage of the new *Guest Ride Pass, and getting started in weekly lesson to advance my skills. This place is great, Ryan is a one man show, and you can see the hard work he has put into his gentle horses, and the beautiful facility. Give this guy a chance, he will do you right. We are for sure coming back, you should try it too!!! more

This place is worth the wait, and a grand ol' time! We will 7/9/2011

We will be running back to enjoy this adventure again next month. Ryan helped my children and I to better understand the horse. We loved out group training session and trail ride. This is a popular venue and Ryan is very dedicated in helping you achieve your goals and have fun at the same time. We are already scheduled to return next month, and we are enrolling our daughter in the weekly lesson program. This is a great place to escape the every day daily grind, and enjoy gentle horse and nature. You should give this experience a try. more

Stay Away! 6/26/2011

Purchased a coupon for lessons. Called a number of times during ""business hours"" and did not get a call back. Visited the facility during ""business hours"" and no one was there. Finally got a call two weeks later. Told him I found something else and he was flat out RUDE. Had to get my money back from the company I bought the coupon from.\r \r Check Kudzu and their Facebook page to see how many people have had problems with this company and his awful, rude customer service. With all of the other horse places around, you are better off with ANYONE else. more
