Rose Automotive

I've been coming here with all 5 of my cars and trucks for years and never had a problem with service or attitude. I have a 1986 camaro and it still passes smog. The State has given me the test only on this car for the past 12 years. Rose Automotive has a Pass or Don't Pay Smog policy. What could be better. They don't want to test your car or truck for nothing. I feel that this has them working on my behalf. If your car fails you don't pay and you can go home and repair it yourself or take it to another shop to get it repaired. Bring it back and they will test it again. But you just can't keep bringing it back week after week hoping it will pass without doing some repairs to it. That's wasting their time and no one will put up with that. The first time I went to Rose a lady came to pick up her car and asked how much she owed them. Their response was nothing because it failed. Hers was a easy fix. He told her that the service engine soon light was burnt out and to replace the bulb and bring it back and they would test it again. Want your car to pass? Try a clean air filter, a bottle of injector cleaner and some Chevron premium gas in the tank and you do have to change the spark plugs once in awhile. If your gas cap leaks vapors it will fail also. I haven't had a car fail yet since 1980 when the State started this smog program. 80 pontiac sunbird, 86 camaro, 86 oldsmobile, 89 astro van, 95 chev truck, 02 jeep wrangler and 04 astro van. In a few years they will be testing my 09 MX-5 mazda. As for TJ273, There is a lot of sensors that the computer monitors and some time the error code only points you in the direction to start diagnosing the problem. There is a flow chart to take you step by step through the sensor testing process and you also need testing equipment. It isn't always as easy as plug and play. I was lucky on my 02 jeep. When the check engine light came on I checked the code P0122 which is a throttle position sensor. Put in a new one and I was of and running to Rose for a smog! I don't want to wast my time either. I do what I can to make sure it passes. more

i took my trucks here several times for smog, greeted with a smile and hello but when i came to actually smogging my truck that's when it turned sour. these guys are ""know it alls"" talking to me like i was an idiot, and to give them the benefit of the doubt i thought well mabey they deal with idiots all day but every time i would come back its the same deal. and they are not helpful they tell you what it ""could be"" and send you on your way. the idiot who checked the timing on my truck said it was off 99 degrees....my truck wouldnt even be running. This recommendation came from Sears. When asked if I was their sister who would they recommend - They said Rose. They were so right! I called, they immediately answered the telephone and my questions and said I could come right in. I did and from the time I made the telephone call, drove from my office and had my car smog tested it was approximately one hour. They were fast, efficient, family like and showed me where my tire had worn and needed to be changed in order to be safe. There was no feeling that they were rushing me and they took the time to show me where the tire was worn. At the same time, they were friendly and helpful. It was my first visit to their facility and a man and woman sitting next to me stated they ""love"" the guys, they do great work and they bring in all of their vehicles. I will too. I have had nothing but courtesy from them, never had to do a call back on them, they always did as promised without unilaterally changing the terms mid stream regarding what we agreed on, and my wife likes them too. The customers I talk with are regulars, some coming as far as twenty miles away from the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. They also have come up with less expensive diagnosis and repair than what I was expecting such that I believe them to be very honest. Okay ... gave them the benefit of the doubt after my first visit that maybe they were just having one of those rare 'bad days .... during my second visit I was treated even more rudely than during my first. You don't need to details, you just need to know that if you want someone who will treat you with mutual respect then you should keep searching! I trust this place implicitly. They are honest, do great work, and at very competitive prices. They will not recommend service you do not need. I went in for a tune up and they told me I had 30K miles left on my spark plugs. Many places would replace them regardless. I tell everyone I know to go to Rose Automotive! these other people that have commented about rose automotive are stupid...take the woman claiming she had bad service, she also has bad reviews on almost every place in san diego. this woman has no clue what she is saying. when i had my car serviced from rose automotive, the employees were the kindest nicest gentleman i have ever met. they were extremly polite...AND MADE ME FEEL LIKE FAMILY. i would HIGHLY recomend them to anyone. Avoid this Smog station. There are many nice people that work here, but Warren Jones has no respect for any costomer he encounters. He is rude and snappy. I would highly suggest avoiding this smog station at all cost Cons: Rude employees more
