don't listen to the hype 5/3/2012

Ive been attending this skating rink for about 3 years now. all the negative reviews aren't entirely accurate. They have all the rental equipment needed and not in ""unreasonable"" limited supply. People have their ""off""days and don't seem too customer oriented. That is entirely understandable if you've ever worked in customer service. This is a wonderful skating rink and i really like how the dj really gets on the mic and interacts with the crowd. Carousel dj's sound really bored with the annoucement of someones birthday table being ready. Ive been on saturday nights and friday nights and fridays are way better dj hosting wise, but i have yet to have a bad night whether it be a regular skate night or a school night. So please dont mistake a bad attitude for a poor experience. be the parent and let the child know that person is having a rough day. even on ""family"" night. Every person reading this needs to understand that it isn't customer service all the time that makes a bad experience but how you react to it that does. I love this place and i am sticking by my guns more

why so rude?! 3/25/2010

i decided to take my kids up to roller city a few weeks ago for a family fun activity. we went on a sunday, the ""family"" skate day. when i came to the window to pay there was a woman handing out the tickets and taking the money. from my understanding she is the owners daughter. when i gave her what she said i owed she snatched it out of my hands and rudely threw the tickets out of the opening in the window, i just let it go for the kids. we stayed for the entire skate session and had a great time. the employees were respectful and very helpful with their new ""skate mates"" for the younger ones. the kids had a blast. as we took our skates back up to the front i saw the same woman raising her voice to whom i was told her mother, the owner. seeing her talk to her mother like that made me rethink on if we would come back or not. when i hear a family skate i think of games and laughing not loud angry voices. since then we have not been back. i hope this woman can change her attitude so we can go back to a fun day of skating. \r \r \r Pros: great work staff Cons: attitude more

This place makes little kids cry!!! 10/6/2008

Took my boys there for a school skate night & their first time roller skating. Started off nice enough, especially when we learned that there were wider, plastic skates for the newbies or little ones. Problem was that the kids could not wear their shoes with the skates because of the way the toe portion of the skate & shoes were made. We all let them wear them with socks only & made sure they were nice and snug. After over an hour, when the games were starting, the kids with those skates were pulled off the rink & told they couldn't skate unless they put shoes on with them. It was soooo unsafe. Didn't matter that the average shoes would not fit in the skates or that the children were much more dangerous to themselves & others in regular skates. For some of these kids, it was their very 1st time skating & they ended up in tears because they didn't understand why it was ok for most of the night but not ok for the games or the rest of the skate time. The asst manager (son-in-law of the owner) was a MAJOR NOT NICE when I expressed my frustration. I was informed the business only owned 3 pairs of the those type of skates so the other 10 kids wearing them brought their own. NOT TRUE!!!! All of them had rented them from the rink. Was told how unsafe they were without shoes and that he had to look out for my child as I was a ""stupid parent"" that didn't care if my child broke his ankle & then would probably want to blame them. UUUGGHHH!!! Guess it didn't matter that they gave children skates that were for the same foot or that we had to use duck tape (provided by them) to get the straps to stay tightly closed. One would think that since this was a night of ""family fun"", they would not have wanted to make most of the 1st time parents angered or have the majority of children leaving in tears.\r \r If you have any other alternative, please take your children and business elsewhere Pros: Would be good family fun if staff didn't leave children in tears Cons: skates are below sub-standard in quality and several aspects make them unsafe more
