Took my boys there for a school skate night & their first time roller skating. Started off nice enough, especially when we learned that there were wider, plastic skates for the newbies or little ones. Problem was that the kids could not wear their shoes with the skates because of the way the toe portion of the skate & shoes were made. We all let them wear them with socks only & made sure they were nice and snug. After over an hour, when the games were starting, the kids with those skates were pulled off the rink & told they couldn't skate unless they put shoes on with them. It was soooo unsafe. Didn't matter that the average shoes would not fit in the skates or that the children were much more dangerous to themselves & others in regular skates. For some of these kids, it was their very 1st time skating & they ended up in tears because they didn't understand why it was ok for most of the night but not ok for the games or the rest of the skate time. The asst manager (son-in-law of the owner) was a MAJOR NOT NICE when I expressed my frustration. I was informed the business only owned 3 pairs of the those type of skates so the other 10 kids wearing them brought their own. NOT TRUE!!!! All of them had rented them from the rink. Was told how unsafe they were without shoes and that he had to look out for my child as I was a ""stupid parent"" that didn't care if my child broke his ankle & then would probably want to blame them. UUUGGHHH!!! Guess it didn't matter that they gave children skates that were for the same foot or that we had to use duck tape (provided by them) to get the straps to stay tightly closed. One would think that since this was a night of ""family fun"", they would not have wanted to make most of the 1st time parents angered or have the majority of children leaving in tears.\r

If you have any other alternative, please take your children and business elsewhere
Pros: Would be good family fun if staff didn't leave children in tears
Cons: skates are below sub-standard in quality and several aspects make them unsafe
