Rocky's Italian Grill

The first time we went to Rocky's at 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday, we were immediately seated on the outside deck. However, we left after sitting 15 minutes without a single server addressing us while four servers stood around a work station laughing with one another. That was to be my last time but my father asked us to join him for my second trip. Again, our server could not be found when we needed napkins, silverware, drink refills, and our check. I left the table three times to ask the manager to assist us with our needs. He apologized each time but service didn't get any better until, of course, the server finally brought us our check with a big happy tip-hungry smile. That's it, not again. Rocky's was a great restaurant when it was in its original location. It's a shame I can't go back to a place my family trusted for over 30 years and get the same great service and food. I can only guess that the good reviews on here must be Rocky's management trying to save face. more

My family and I love Rocky's. It is a great Italian restaurant and has a nice river view. Always good service and great food! more

Another good view of Louisville, They have the best whole wheat pizza crust I've ever had. It can get a bit noisy sometimes, making it hard to have a conversation. I like going in the spring or fall and sitting out on the patio and enjoy the view of the river. more

I don't know where some of these other people ate, but our service was fantastic. The food was incredible, best I have had in some time. This was our first trip to Indiana, now we wish there was a Rocky's near where we live. Pros: Calzone and lasagna were incredible Cons: N/A more

i went there with my wife and on 2 separate occasion our service was terrible because the wait staff was getting drunk in the corner rather than help us. homemade I doubt. everything that came to our table was out of a box and would doubt there was a microwave involved at some point in the cooking process. if it wasn't that company needs to hire people who have cooked before that day. most people's view of what good is is at the hand of a lifetime of passable food and they have low expectations at the gate and think warm tomato sauce on noodles is italian, it is but i doubt they spend hours making one sauce there. not practicle and low kitchen skill level. stop infecting the earth with good enough to get by food. My family loves to eat at Rockey's The view of the river is wonderful and we go there every year to watch Thunder Over Louisville! \r The food is great and the pizza is to die for! \r I highly recommend them! more

First trip to Louisville and staying downtown. My family decided on Rocky's because of the view and the location. Restaurant was clean upon entering but it went downhill from there. The service was slow but that may have been because the server was actually trying to save us from eating the horrible food. I had the Calzone (apparently pre-made because they can't customze it), my wife the cannelloni and my kids had various kids dishes. We were hungry and no one finished their meal. It really was one of the worst dinner's I've had in years. If this is Louisville's version of good Italian food, someone could make a fortune with a mediocre NY transplant restaurant. The tab was $40 for all of us and we really should have just ordered Papa John's - it's a better option for Italian in Louisville. Pros: Clean restaurant. Awesome view of downtown Cons: The Food. Rocky's has great food, and great skyscapes of downtown, but I would not recommend for a quick lunch or dinner. The food is meant to be savored and enjoyed in Italian style, and rushing through is a disservice to yourself. This is definitely a favourite!\r \r They have GREAT Italian food, and very good prices. The staff is friendly and there is never a very long wait. \r \r The best thing about this place though... is the view. Its right on the Ohio River... you can see the whole city of Louisville while you dine outside or in. \r I love to go just to see the view. Its beautiful. =) \r The environment is great as well.\r \r Highly recommended. more

My co-workers and I went to lunch there today and we sat for 45 minutes and never got our food! We went in and ordered our drinks and food because we were on our lunch hour. I ordered soup and salad, one ordered veggie lasagna, one orderes salad and cheese triangles, and the other ordered spaghetti marinara sauce. I know that the soup and salad should not take that long. The waitress never came back and checked on us, we had to ask someone else for bread, and another waiter had to fill our water glasses. As time progressed we never saw our waitress for 15 minutes and FINALLY I saw her get up from a table in the back where she had been talking to another waitress and come over to fill our water glasses!!!! My co-worker told her we had to go back to work and she disappeared again! The owner came over and apoligized and asked if we wanted to take our food with us!!! We all declined because we had to come back to work and if the food was ready to go with us why didn't we have it on the table!!!! Granted we didn't pay for anything but that was the WORST service I have ever had in my life!! Pros: Great food if you can get it. Cons: Horrible slow service!!! more

My very first visit to Rocky's with the good friend who introduced me to this fabulous restaurant on June 9, 2007 was a complete delight! Our server was new and excellent. Very friendly and fun and made our dining experience great. We got off on the right start with a plate covered with a small mound of fresh parma cheese. Herbed Olive Oil was on the table to pour generously over the cheese. We were also served a superb round loaf of fresh baked and bagged bread for dipping. Our salads came out quickly and were very delicious. For the main course I ordered the Meat and Sweet Sausage Cannelloni and I was not dissapointed! It was covered in a delicious Alfredo sauce. The flavors of the meat and sweet sausage stuffed in a delicious pasta shell adorned with the creamy alfredo sauce was so delicious and very memorable. I must also make mention of the iced tea! Not all places make a great glass of tea as simple as it sounds that may be. Although you can get as much bread and salad as you like, our portions were so plentiful we did not want for anything more. We were so pleasantly full we decided we would have to try dessert next time. I can't wait! If your in the area you MUST try Rocky's Italian Grill, you will not be dissapointed. We also enjoyed sitting by a window and enjoying a view of the Ohio river. The whole experience was great and I look forward to visiting them again in the near future! Request a seat by the window, outside or fire place. If you are in love it is romantic!! I get the Chicken Marsala EVERYTIME! The service has always been great. They're bread with fresh olive oil and grated parm. cheese is delicious! And they're fresh bottomless salads are delicious, I recommend the "red wine vinagerette" it's wonderful.
