Judging by the number of people always waiting out in the cold for a table and the fabulous reviews, I had high expectations of this restaurant.
We ate here on the weekend before Valentines day, so of course it was busy. Our reservation was for 8:30 pm and we weren't able to be seated until 9:00, and I was given the feeling that this is not uncommon. The bread was oddly dense and sponge-like, not very appetizing. We ordered the antipasto mixto, which was a huge mistake.. I assumed it would be a mix of the other appetizers, but what we got was a plate of mushrooms and dips that seemed to come out of a can or jar, along with some cold polenta. My gnocchi was much better: rich and chewy, obviously homemade.
Service was outstanding and the owner seems like a great guy. Overall mixed feelings about the place. I may try it again.
