Best Bakery West of the Mississippi 1/7/2012

Growing up in Chicago one of the best memories I had were of the bakeries. Although I've been in Colorado for 40 plus years there hasn't been a bakery that WOW'ed me until we stumbled upon this one. Although lacking my favourite Polish classics (kolochky and cherry nut bread) we were not disappointed. The strudel was a culinary version of heaven! The little nut rolls amazing.......everything we tried is brilliant! This is what a bakery is all about - not a stupid cupcake in sight! YAY! We'll be back! more

Superb Gluten Free Cakes 8/26/2010

It was such a joy to discover the sugar free and gluten free selections at this bakery. Their gluten free cakes are sooo much better than anything else I have tried. We ordered a chocolate mocha cake and it was superb. It had the most amazing creamy filling and four layers of it too. Rheinlander we love you. more

Absolutely Delicious! 8/26/2010

My Boy's 10th Birthday party cake was phenomenal. He is into swords and the intricate work that goes on the handles of them. This bakery's cake decorator delivered a superbly intricate sword cake for our partly. My boy was extremely happy and we really enjoyed its creamy texture. We will be getting all of our cakes from this bakery. more

This Bakery will wow you! 8/26/2010

We spend a Saturday afternoon sitting at this bakery's patio in Olde Town Arvada. We had a box of the most amazing delicious pastries. My sister got their nutcorner pastry which is a yummy german cookie with marzipan and my niece got the cutest marshmallow butterfly. The girl at the counter said these were homemade marshmellows and was she ever right. We are planning to spend more afternoons enjoying this bakery's goodies it's quite a treasure. more

INCOMPETENT BAKERY!! 8/18/2010

I have NEVER been so disappointed in a bakery as Rheinlander! I ordered a huge cake for my mother's 80th birthday. I paid approximately $150. I emailed a photo of what I wanted the cake to look like and I wrote a very detailed email. It was a circus-themed party and there were to be 8 clowns on the cake. The photo showed clowns all over the cake.\r \r The owner went on vacation and I spoke with another employee on 2 separate occasions to make sure that everything was going smoothly.\r \r When my sister picked up the cake, there were NO CLOWNS whatsoever! The cake looked like Syrofoam! \r \r The bakery was not willing to do ANYTHING about the cost of this cake. If this had cost $50, it would have been one thing - but a $150 cake??? Where I had been explicit in the directions?\r \r Luckily, Visa came to my rescue and issued me a $50 credit because they felt so badly for me.\r \r This bakery is INCOMPETENT and they have the WORST customer service in the world! If you are looking for a special cake more

WORST GLUTEN FREE EVER!!! 5/14/2010

This was the worst gluten free product I have ever tasted. Even my boyfriend who is used to eating gluten free because of me described the cake as tasting like eating hay! Yes. It was THAT BAD!!! We got a small gluten free chocolate cake just because I could eat it. It had absolutely no chocolate flavor whatsoever. My boyfriend and I each took one bite and looked at each other with disgusted faces. We then threw the rest of the cake away! I will never step foot in this bakery again and strongly discourage anyone from wasting their money on their gluten free products! Gross. Cons: tasteless, poor service more

Good Sometimes, but With Serious Problems at Other Times 1/22/2010

I am celiac and diabetic and like to go here for great gluten free, sugar free, low carb snacks. They are well stocked with yummy goodies that I cannot eat elsewhere and it is so nice to have an occasional treat.\r \r However, their products are not always good. Last year, I ordered a pie from them for Christmas dinner, and paid dearly to get the GF/SF version. They required me to pay in advance, and so I had no recourse when I went to pick up the pie on Christmas Eve, and was given a product that was burned on the outside and raw on the inside. It was so yucky that even the children in our house refused to eat it. They offered no apology, and no refund.\r \r I still like to go there for a quick treat, but will never trust them again with an important job. more

Their decorated cakes rock 10/25/2009

We ordered our little boy's birthday cake from this bakery. The staff was superb in helping us get the right decorations. When we picked up the cake we were elated. They nailed the theme and it was so beautiful, truly a work of art. It tasted great too. We highly recommend getting a decorated cake from here. Pros: Edible works of art! Cons: You will want more of it! more

Fabulous Wedding Cakes! 4/3/2009

The moment you walk into this bakery there's someone friendly to welcome you. On Saturdays, they hand out generous pieces of their fantastic cakes just to try. That's how my fiance and I got to find the wedding cake of our dreams. Our wedding was last week at the First Slavic Church in Arvada. Not only did our cake, exceed our expectations in beauty, but our guests lined up for seconds. We should have gotten a bigger one. We highly recommend Rheinlander Bakery for their cakes and strudels. They have been in Arvada since 1963 and their staff is top notch. The lady that delivered our cake was so professional and made sure everything was perfect before she left. They made a small sugar free cake for my mother in law who's diabetic and small cakes for our close family to take with them. Arvada has a jewel here! Pros: Layered Cakes are the best. Cons: Price, but's its so worth it! more

This is the Best Place for Gluten Free Desserts! 4/2/2009

We have never had a better gluten free dessert than here and we have travelled all over the US and Europe. The selection alone will astound you. Try the chocolate cream cheese bar cakes and their lemon dreams are to die for. You will not be disappointed. We specialled order a gluten free, sugar free cake for my father in law and he just could not tell that it was ""special"", until I started eating it. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging. The breads are delicious too. Pros: Best Cakes Period! more

Not Edible 12/25/2008

We are gluten free and had heard that this bakery catered to those needs. We are used to the fact that gluten free foods sometimes taste and feel a little different, but have always managed to find alternatives that are very acceptable. Professional bakers who understand gluten free are able to create very good items. This is not true of Rheinlander Bakery, and our experience with them has been extremely dissappointing. Pros: The staff are helpful and friendly. Cons: The food is terrible. more

yummy German chocolate cake 10/16/2007

I had the best tasting German Chocolate for my birthday from this bakery. Layers of moist cake and rich coconut pecan filling that melts in your mouth. I thought I had them all, but this just topped the scales in awesomeness and yuminess more

Best Gluten Free Bread 6/7/2007

This bakery offers the best gluten free bread I have had since I was diagnosed 3 years ago. They even have gluten free hamburger buns and hot dog buns. They have multigrain, but the white is my absolute favorite. I had my first real sandwich, and it was heavenly. They make gf pizza too. My family who does not have to eat gluten free really enjoyed the delicious sticky buns. The service was extremely knowledgeable too and you cannot beat the wafting aroma. Pros: Very knowledgeable and special needs friendly more

Rheinlander Bakery 3/30/2007

This little bakery in Arvada was our family's favorite until we asked Rheinlander to redo the cake decorating on my son's birthday cake. The response was that the cake decorator has worked for twenty years and that they were sure that the cake was fine. They then offered to redo the cake even though the man admitted he was not qualified. (The cake decorator was not on duty at the time and I do appreciate his honesty.) The man went on to say how wonderful their reputation was and that I was having a ""monologue with myself."" So much for friendly service. I agree that the customer is not always right, however it would have been gracious if Rheinlander would have invited us to return the cake and have the cake decorator redo the frosting. Bottome lines: The cakes are wonderful. At the same time, repuation alone does not mean that the business is always right! more

Even your nose gets treat as you walk in the door. 2/25/2007

WOW! We got few things to try nothing was just good - it was VERY GOOD. The strudel got a double thumbs up from my friend whose family is from Germany. The Shokolate is decadent. Even the Rice Krispie Pop is coated in great chocolate!. They have a selection to impress and highly reasonable prices. The hard thing is deciding what you want. This has become one of (if not THE) favorite bakery on my list. Rheinlander you will be seeing me again...and again... Pros: Everything they make, Cons: not closer more
