Commerce Street Grille 9/28/2009

My entire stay at the Renaissance Hotel was close to perfect. Parking was nearby and we could just walk out the door to find the great downtown scenes. (Tootsie's, The Ryman, etc.) I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm so glad we tried the Commerce Street Grille at the hotel. Our food was cooked perfectly, the service was quick and very friendly, and the price was just right. The Renaissance Burger was the best bacon cheeseburger ever! Pros: delicious and convenient Cons: none more

Awesome Hotel 1/1/2009

My husband and I stayed here for our 37th anniversary-new years eve celebration. We enjoyed ourselves and the staff were very helpful and courteous. The view from our room was wonderful. I recommend the 24th floor for a beautiful view. The room was great and the floor club louge was worth it. We were close enough to walk to downtown broadway and enjoy all the sites. Looking forward to returning there. Very classy place to stay. Pros: good parking options, close to everthing Cons: none more

Nice and quiet 11/30/2008

Hey! Pros: Great service, awesome food, very close to downtown, free valet parking Cons: Inside the hotel, not well advertised more

A Nice Hotel 5/16/2008

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. It was very convenient that it was attached to the Convention Center. The hotel is modern, the rooms were very nice. The staff were also extremely courteous. My only complaint, it was difficult to get a Taxi to the Airport. I had to wait about 15 minutes in a heavy thunderstorm and the area was not well protected. more

Don't go for the cozy atmosphere and warm ambiance 12/5/2006

Big mistake thinking white tablecloths and an enthusiastic menu equaled a romantic dinner for two. Went because we were attending a show and didn't want to fight traffic to and from the hotel. Will never go again - the target clientele seems to be unsupervised children and people satisfied with filet from the buffet. I had made a reservation but we still waited 10 minutes. The hostess is the rudest, least personable person - she positively glared at us when we requested a booth. There is no wine list, and the wine brought was spoiled. Dishes with food left on them sat on a table behind us the entire time we ate, because there was only one busboy. It is disgusting to look around and see plates of half-eaten food! The two steaks we ordered took 35 minutes, primarily because our waiter forgot about us until I was getting up to get a manager. He never came back to check on us, and if we didn't go to the front to get our check we would have been late to the show. Sad thing is, the food was very good. Even if this restaurant was the last resort, I would not dine there again. Pros: The food Cons: Everything else more

Anniversary made special 3/26/2006

My husband and I had never been to Nashville and found the Renaissance Hotel listed in a book about Nashville. We called and made a reservation to celebrate our 6th anniversary. From the Valet parking people, to the doormen, to the front desk check-in, to the housekeeping staff, to the conceirge, to the restaurant staff everyone made our stay special. We will definitely be back! Pros: great location, friendly staff, spacious rooms Cons: none, none, none more

Great !! 1/16/2006

I won a trip to Nashville on our local Counrty Radio Station. We had never been to Nashville and was looking forward to the trip! When we arrived, the hotel stands out it is the tallest in downtown, the staff wonderful. Made us feel like we were someone special! The location is great, right around the corner from the Ryman, the Gaylord Arena, and Broadway (the local honkey tonks). WE had a wonderful time, and found none of the above mentioned problems. Pros: location, staff Cons: NO shuttles more

Good service, nice atmosphere 9/28/2005

When staying in nashville, i had a chance to dine at Commerce Street Grille. At first i didnt plan on eating there believing that hotel restaurants arent typically good. However, i was very surprised. They had live music at the entrance, good food, and great service. My server was on top of my every want or need. At the end of dinner the server made me feel like a regular. He truly was interested in my having enjoyable experience, not just see treat me like i was nothing more than a tip. Will return. Pros: Service, Entrees, Friendliness Cons: Dessert menu more

nice change 8/2/2005

This restaurant located inside the Renaissance Hotel was truly a nice experience. There menu contained a nice variety of selections. I chose the filet and it was surprisingly very good. I didn't think a restaurant located inside of a hotel could have a steak that good. In addition, the service was impecable; from suggesting appetizers to being intuative to our every need. It was a nice relaxing dinner. Pros: service, comfortable, food Cons: bread basket, parking more

The Ultimate Hotel Experience 7/16/2005

Check in was simple. The staff was incredibly friendly. The accomodations were simply wonderful. I rarely get a treat like this. We chose to use valet service for the car and found it to be one of best luxuries we could have invested in. The hotel is within walking distance to many of the popular tourist attractions on 2nd Ave. It is also very close to the Ryman Auditorium. There is a crosswalk connecting the hotel to the parking garage across the street...in the crosswalk, there is a bar and a snack cart. The snackcart sells food that is better than some of the leading casual dining restaurants. If you stay, have a bagel for breakfast. You will not regret it. Also, I had my first room service experience here. It was absolutely wonderful. The service was top notch and the food was absolutely cooked to perfecion. Will I stay there again? Absolutely! more

The best 6/20/2005

I loved our stay at the Renaissance Hotel. Terrific treatment by the staff and wonderful clean rooms helped me rest peacefully. The view from our room was amazing. To bad we live here now and don't get to stay there. more

We love it 5/16/2005

My husband and I stay there every year for our anniversary. They treat us with the utmost respect, are friendly effecient and most helpful. They quickly do what ever is need to make our stay the best if it's only one night or we are there 4 days. They are extremely helpful with ideas and things to do and will go the extra step to make reservations and set schedules for you without the least bit of hassle. We greatly appreciate the staff at the hotel. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Pros: staff, respectful, helpful. Cons: Pricey more

Terrible service, rude staff 7/4/2004

The food was great, but the service was terrible. We let the waitress know that we would be having the breakfast buffet. After that, she failed to even acknowedge us during the rest of our visit. She did not refill our drinks or ask how our meal was. The hostess on duty wasn't much of a people person either. We will never eat there again, nor will we recommend it to friends staying in the adjacent hotel. It takes more than just good food to make a pleasant dining experience. Pros: good breakfast buffet more

Overpriced! 6/20/2003

$200 + per night was not worth the room we got, small and bathroom condition was fair at best. Also at that price you would thing there would be a few freebies (like coffee). Everything had a price tag and $12.95 for Breakfast Buffet, no way. Sorry but will not stay again! more

high hopes, low results 1/24/2003

We would have been better off going to Motel 6! My finace & I planned a romantic evening. We chose the escape honeymoon the hotel suggested. Upon arrival, it took two hours for us to receive our champagne and truffles. The room was no better than any other motel & the bathroom tiles had mildew on them. Our bathtub for two barely fit one person. When we went down for breakfast, it turned out to be cold tasteless food. It was NOT worth the money we "wasted". Pros: good valet, close to downtown, nice health spa Cons: overpriced, bad food, no TV channels more

A relaxing experience in a bustling city 8/16/2002

My husband and I stayed one night at the Renaissance on a trip for my business and I wished we could have stayed longer! We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff truly made us feel first class. We had an incredible room on the 21st floor with the most amazing sunset views of the city. The decor is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Best of all is the service - truly first rate! Everyone from the Front desk clerk to the bellhop was pleasant and helpful - and especially wonderful was the Valet. He had our car ready at a moments notice and was invaluable in helping us find our way around the city with maps and excellent directions! We enjoyed our stay and will be staying here again when I come for business every year! Pros: Service, View Cons: Price more

10 6/23/2002

I had an absolutely excellent experience with the Renaissance. I coordinated a 4 day meeting for my department with the most attentive and professional hotel sales staff I have encountered in a long time. Our group was small in comparison to the other large meetings the hotel was accommodating and usually handles. However, one would never have known the difference. Every detail was handled according to the specifications we had prearranged. Any additional needs that arose were handled promptly and seemlessly. I never had to ask for anything more than once. Additionally, there were very nice hospitality touches to the three meeting rooms we had reserved. The quality of the property is superior and every facet of the staff is well trained and presents genuine care for their role in the organization. Both the management and staff make this an A+++ property. A fine example for others to follow! Pros: Event Coordination, Location, Mgt and Staff Cons: No dinner alternative more
