Vintage Clothes 4/30/2006

If you still have your concert T-shirts from Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers, bring them here; my husband got $5 for one and $7 for another. This store buys, sells, and trades vintage clothes and accessories from the last eighty years—as well as jewelry, hair dye, and action figures of notorious politicians—conveniently organized by decade. And if you think the good prices they pay their sellers equate with high prices for their customers, of course you are right. more

Vintage Clothing Store with Flare 3/9/2006

I love this store simply because of the display windows. They are awesome! The chicken costumes are the best. I love this store during Halloween because they have the best costumes to choose from. The clothing as a whole is different. If you are one of those people who can take a piece of cloth and make it into an amazing outfit than this is your place. They also carry new clothing items as well. more

Cool vintage, used, and new clothing, but not always budget-friendly 3/5/2006

The hipster's dream - a new and used clothing store with an ample supply of vintage shirts, Dickies pants, jeans, costume-suitable clothes, and ironic accessories. It's generally expensive for a store selling used clothing; I've rarely found any clothes I liked there for under $15, but everything is also in excellent shape. Check out the $5 bin for deals. Red Light is also a mecca for Halloween costumes and costume ideas. more

Red Light for vintage 2/19/2006

While it can take some digging, Red Light usually has some gems when it comes to vintage, or just kinda funky clothing. There are two locations, one in the University District and one in capitol Hill, although the one in the U usually has a bigger, better selection to choose from. more

need vintage attire 10/22/2005

red light clothing exchange is a great place to go if you need to buy, or sell vintage clothing. they have a very wide array of vintage clothing, tons of levis genuine camoflauge army jackets, and uniforms. large assortment of vintage women's clothes also, in back room , many dresses, shoes, purses, and jackets, jewelry,etc.. at front of store .happy vintage shopping, or selling! more

VERY COOL 9/29/2005

Truly vintage stuff. Red light has been around for quite a while. They have a huge selection of items from the 70's and 80's. Currently they have a pretty healthy selection of Halloween stuff too! This is a great place to accessorize. Cool glasses, shoes, classic jeans. You name it. Ive not seen such a healthy selection of vintage thrift! Also dig in your closet (or your Mums) and take her stuff in to sell to add to the selection! more

Great Vintage. 9/22/2005

Red Light is dark, musty and has snobby sales associates, but their clothes are amazing! Although their inventory is constantly changing, this is the place to go for vintage cocktail dresses. There is a pretty good selection of 50's-80's clothing as well as some new (overpriced) items. If you are selling, they pay a little more than other shops, but are really picky (which is why their selection is better). Beware of Halloween: During the Halloween season, RedLight makes room for tons of costumes (new and used). It's great fun to look through, but can get packed, especially in the UDistrict. more

vintage & new/alterna boutique 9/1/2005

i buy most of my clothes used. i and for a long time i have divided used clothes stores into 3 categories: thrift, vintage boutique, and upscale re-sale. thrift stores are cheap with a wide range of merchandise (e.g. st. vincent de paul). vintage boutiques are more expensive - they are basically charging you for picking out clothes that are popular now and in decent shape. if you have time and your own sense of style, thrifting is more fun. if you're in a hurry and want something that's pretty standard vintage (cowboy shirt, old levi's, etc.), then a vintage boutique can save you time because you know there will be several to choose from. i have yet to find a thrift store in seattle that i think is as good as some in the bay area. as far as vintage boutiques go, red light's pretty good, but not that great. i like the one in the u-district better than the one in capital hill. more of a vintage shop than say buffalo exchange, which focuses more on current styles/items. i don't like the amount of new clothing they sell, which has been increasing. i think this jacks up the price of their vintage stuff and changes the kind of staff they have (and thus their vintage knowledge). but, it seems to be the trend in seattle for vintage boutiques to carry new stuff now -- even goodwill does it some now. i've worked in both thrift and vintage boutique stores. to the people who complained about bag checking -- hello -- people steal a lot from used stores (and worse). once the tag is off, it's impossible to prove they took it from the store, since they could have also owned the same used item. more

I guess it's cool, if you are into that kind of thing! 8/30/2005

This place is kind of over priced for what they have. I just remember it being really dark inside and smelling kind of bad. They get all weird about taking bags in there and are really into watching people like we want to steal their junk. I guess you can find funky things to wear, but wearing used clothes is not really my thing! more

all kinds of wierd stuff 8/30/2005

If you're looking for vintage or costumes (one and the same) look no further. Red Light has all kinds of vintage clothes, shoes, and costumes. I bought a crazy lion outfit here for Halloween once...and that was that. I didn't see any clothes that I'd wear on a regular day...unless I was a nurse, policeman, or dominatrix. more

Blast from the Past 8/16/2005

Would you look good in a pair of 1960’s-era glasses, or how about a 1970’s era cat suit? Maybe you want a 1950’s-era prom dress and costume jewelry for a special occasion? Red Light has everything you need to complete your special look. Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or consign, this is the place to do business when it comes to vintage clothing and accessories. more

vintage clothes source 8/5/2005

The Red Light is a nice used clothing store, but they specialize in vintage stuff so if you are interested in bringing in things for trade, you really have to have just the kind of thing they're looking for or they won't buy it. the prices are also a little higher than other places, but they do have good quality stuff. more
