Knapp's has always had terrific food and service. I've been a customer there for about 35 years. Apparently sugraddict does not live in Rochester (I do, and it's a very nice place), as the visit described in that review obviously took place during Rockin' Rods, an event that brings thousands of visitors into town. With all those classic car enthusiasts, obviously many of them will end up in an authentic '50s-style diner (which it is; it's not one of those fake-""retro"" places), hence the crowd. It doesn't take deep thought to figure that out, but it's also popular due to the quality involved. Burgers at Knapp's are terrific, the buns are made next door to there, at Home Bakery. The shakes (or malts, take your pick) are the best in town. I have never seen a ""paper plate"" served there, that claim sounds absurd. The parking isn't ""tricky"", but rather easy: huge, free municipal parking lots are behind the building and within very close distance of the location in other directions, as well. (Don't parallel park on Main, that's for lazy people). Prices can be slightly higher than fast-food chains, but I just got 2 burgers for the price of one recently, and they are 1/3 lb. burgers. Service is fast, 10 minutes is typical for burgers, and the employees are quite attentive and quick. Anyone who lives here is well aware of all of this.
Pros: terrific service and food
Cons: slightly higher pricing, on some items
