** Parent's Warning ** Do Not Send Your Child!! ** July 2010 It is with shock and deep regret that I am sending a strong warning to parents NOT to send their children to Red Hill ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/9/2013

My experience at Red Hill Montessori has been enriching, rewarding, and pleasurable. The success of our school can be attributed to the hard work, commitment, and determination of the entire administration and staff. The school's emphasis on academics, discipline, and independence can be illustrated by the success of the students and the commitment from administration, staff and parents. Furthermore, Red Hill Montessori promotes health and fitness through all types of extracurricular activities, and by implementing a hearty and healthy lunch menu for the students. Red Hill Montessori will prepare each student for academic success for years to come. more

Red Hill Montessori is a great school of academic excellence. It provides all the care and supervision needed for your child s academic growth as well as social development. Red Hill has a highly qualified and experienced staff. The director Ms. Leila is educated, experienced and above all a very dedicated leader. She cares for each of her students individually and monitors their progress. She has strict rules for code of conduct, cleanliness and the over all environment of the school. Red Hill offers swimming in the summer months and gym in the winter months as extracurricular activities. Many other schools do not offer it. more

After extensive research on schools for my son, I found this school to be the best. The Principal is highly qualified and committed on getting the best teachers, materials and programs for the children. The school follows in an excellent manner, Maria Montessori's method and complements it with the Glenn Doman's method. The programs are constantly reviewed and updated in order to bring the best out of the children. Beside, both the Principal and the staff are very open and enjoy working with parents. There is also a Parent's Board that works hand in hand with the school and other parents. I highly recommend this school. more

I can't tell you how much of an impact you had on Andy this year. Peter and I are so pleased and the important thing is Andy is pleased with himself. Your patient and caring manner helped Andy see that he could do anything he wanted to do. He has a wonderful foundation for 1st grade and we thank you. more

We have two children 11 and 6 years. Both were students of RedHill Montessori. 11-year old was with this school for 3 years and 6-year old was there for 4+ years. We live in Novi with about 15 miles away from this school. Both of our children are now in Northville public schools. Choosing this school for our children was one of the greatest gifts given to them. This school has provided best all-round curriculum that our kids can absorb. Both have received structured and well-organized academics and extra-curricular activities including Music, PE and field-trips. As parents, we have encouraged our kids to follow teachers' directions and complete Homework. That's all we did for our kids during their stay at RedHill (formerly Farmington Hills Montessori School). Both of our kids are doing great in Northville public schools with advanced-curriculum. Many thanks to Ms. Leila, Mr. David and others. more

Our daughter LOVES to go to school!!! 6/6/2012

Our daughter LOVES to go to school!!! At 2 ?? years old she was reading books and has grown to be an even more confident and bright child. She even sleeps with her books. The teachers are amazing or in her words ???I love my teacher, she???s my friend.??? We recently moved back from Chicago and our daughter didn???t really know many people here, but since we enrolled her, she has blossomed socially. The one-on-one time that Ms. Leila devotes to each child???spending extra time to teach them to read and write is a wonderful asset to their development. Five other parents I told about this school, scheduled an appointment and has enrolled without delay. It is our greatest investment. more

Education at its Best!!! 9/20/2010

All I can say is WoW! Red Hill Montessori is an excellent school. My son has attended Red Hill for 3 years and I must say I am completely pleased with the education he is receiving. The teachers are very dedicated and nurturing to the students. They gently encourage all of the students to do their very best. That is why the students excel academically. In addition to all the successful teaching going on at Red Hills, it possesses a family atmosphere that will give any parent comfort that their child will be cared for. Last, I must mention that the director, Leila Charleworth has a vested interest in the academic growth of all of the students. She personally listens to every student read and calls the parents just to see how the school year is going. Red Hill is a wonderful place for a child to be educated. more

Education Excellence! 9/16/2010

I have had such a tremendously wonderful experience with my daughter at Red Hill. My daughter, now 6 is beginning her 3rd year at the school; and she has not been an easy child to teach! The owner, Leila Charlesworth and her staff have been extremely patient with her. We had to work together to ensure my daughter's progress. It wasn't easy being told my daughter was a disruptive, disrespectful child. But by meeting with Leila and her staff, we put her on a development path with a remarkable outcome! I am proud to announce that my child is now reading books and adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers! I couldn't be happier with her present teacher, David who in my estimation is a saint. In fact, he will be taking his young wife and baby to Tanzania for 10 years to do missionary work in 2014. He truly is a loving, caring and nurturing teacher. One any parent would be thrilled to have. Another beautiful advantage to sending my daughter to this school is that they teach the children development through singing and dance. The musical productions they put on in December and May are unlike anything I have ever seen. It was a true highlight to see my daughter gracefully dance on front and center stage! Some schools are not a good fit for their children and it is incumbent upon the parents to determine which school is best for them. I tried 2 other schools before making a home for my child at Red Hill Montessori and I am thrilled that I did. more

Personal Statement 8/17/2010

It is with great sadness that I am writing this note in response to recent allegations. As some of you might already know, a former parent whose child was enrolled at our school had recently made malicious statements on this website clearly for personal and vindictive reasons. This parent?s detestable statement was aimed at hurting the academy by cruelly criticizing and spreading wrongful judgments and rumors about our school as well as personally attacking me and other staff members? credibility as educators. more

One of a kind 8/2/2010

As a parent I could not be happier with Red Hill Montessori. I looked at a ton of schools and none of them come anywhere close to this place in terms of teaching. This is not cookbook style montessori, it is a unique approach and the results are incredible- kids reading books by the time they are three, and loving to learn. Miss Leila the director knows a lot about children and is very honest and direct. If you want a fast food 'customer is always right' approach to your child's future, by all means seek out your local Kindercare. If you want to see your child bright, happy, energetic, with love for learning, this is the place for you. Pros: early reading curriculum, montessori basis more

** DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE ** 7/23/2010

** Parent's Warning ** Do Not Send Your Child!! ** July 2010 It is with shock and deep regret that I am sending a strong warning to parents NOT to send their children to Red Hill Academy. The five-star ""rave review"" you might read below was written by me last year (entitled, ""Best Pre-School in Michigan), and at that time, what I wrote was true. Back then, the school was filled with competent, loving teachers, among them -- Mr. Gabe, Miss Ouzanna and Miss Annmarie. Those teachers have all quit or been fired. One has to wonder why, in my opinion, such beloved teachers have left the school. I am deeply concerned about what appears to be a higher than average hiring practice. Based on my personal experience this July, I did something I never thought I would do -- I re-enrolled my son in summer school and pulled him out within one week. Why did I do this? Because after enrollment, I learned that as a kindergartener, one of the teachers physically pulled my son out of his chair causing him to cry. In disbelief, I contacted other parents and staff who remembered and corroborated this incident. Upon questioning my son, he described the incident as ""really scary."" During a meeting to discuss this incident with Miss Leila and the teacher, the incident was denied. But that wasn't the worst part for me. The worst part was the complete lack of personal responsibility for the incident despite evidence to the contrary. Not once did Miss Leila offer to investigate. Not once did she apologize for even a ""hint"" of inappropriate behavior in the classroom. My conversation with Leila and the teacher turned contenscious and produced three things -- denial, anger and blame. How can a school claim to promote personal responsibility and character building when they don't embody these values at the top? My experience is that this is an environment that has the propensity to blame you and your child for any problems or challenges in the classroom. My experience is that when you ask to discuss issues related to your child, you will experience long lectures and unsolicited parenting advice. You may, as I did, experience having to hear your child referred to as ""lazy"" when you voice your concerns about their struggles with their work. And most sadly of all, you may -- as I did -- witness your child go from being joyous and happy at the thought of going to school to voicing fear and anxiety, only to be lectured to about the value of tough love, discipline and the benefits of being ""strict."" As for this mother, I look to my son to tell me how I'm doing as a parent. Soft words, tons of involvement and a nurturing environment have created a happy, funny, loving, generous, kind-hearted 7 year-old boy who is beloved by parents and teachers alike. I'm agreeing with you, Leila, that Michael doesn't belong at Red Hill. I can do better for my son. Cons: Miss Leila's poor leadership, inappropriate teacher behavior more
